As someone who has tried both, let me give you my opinion.
I went through a huge effort to get the G4 on this deal, and eventually got it. Got the plastic back, which I wouldn't recommend - feels cheap. Definitely go for the leather if you want one of these. Overall, I wasn't satisfied. The camera was good, but really requires more manual intervention to get the most out of it, something I'm not bothered with (I wanted more of an "out of the box" camera experience). The software is really unrefined I found. It just feels "loose" and not very well thought out, kinda hard to explain. Review videos will tell you exactly the same thing. I found the battery life to be very poor too. So after returning the G4 back to Vodafone (who thankfully took it back along with the top up), I went for the O2 refresh GS6 deal.
So far I've been very happy with my choice. Battery is as good if not better (maybe I had a bad G4!), it's still not great mind you - I have to do some battery optimisations to get it to last me through the day. The lack of expandable storage is not ideal but I don't store lots of stuff on my phone anyway. Everything else is just stellar. Build quality feels miles and miles better than the G4. Design and overall fit and finish is superb. And I'm super impressed with what they've done with Touchwiz; no lag at all, and it all feels very well thought out. Nearly all features are genuinely useful and it's nicely customizable. Other than that, the fingerprint scanner is amazing - I can unlock my phone securely without having to think about it, or have to punch in a code or worry about patterns every time (let's face it, most of us have to look at our phone many times a day - why not make it seemless). The wireless charging is a nice touch too, I've bought one from Amazon and it's nice to just put it down without plugging in at night - will save the port from getting worn down that way too.
I'd say if you really need more storage and a removable battery, maybe think about the G4. But in my experience the GS6 has been far better than the G4 in literally all other areas.
Obviously it's just an opinion, so don't shoot me people - my needs/tastes may be different to yours ^_^

For me its the G4. Bought an S6 and returned it looking at the abysmal battery life. Would not say G4 is great but much better than S6. Of course not to mention the additional benefit of removable battery and sd card.

The S6 is a better phone by a bit in nearly every respect, screen, camera, processor, build quality. However this does have the leather back, removable battery and micro SD slot it is a very nice phone and well worth the price. I personally went with the LG because it was cheaper and less hassle, but for those that have to have the best phone the S6 is a no brainer. Also note that the LG 4G has been superseded.

I have been looking at this in detail and it does seem to have everything most people would need in a smartphone, plus of course the physical keyboard. Just a shame they won't be doing a dual sim version. Would have thought that's a feature more suited to a business class phone.

G3 UK edition was slow. Laggy. Kept crashing. Screen became unusable and was replaced under warranty but it still wasn't great to use. Excellent camera though I will say that. Needed more memory like the European edition. UK rip off as usual. Why we got a different model who knows... Oh and TV broke after 2.5 years. Not in warranty as bought from dabs.

I would be interested to know how these latest flagships stack up to stand alone mid range compacts for last 2 years ive always bought a fairly low end handset (currently smart ultra 6) and paired it with a very compact wifi enabled compact (sony wx200) this combo seems to produce very good photos and the wifi transfer is fast and reliable, however if these lastest camera phones are now as good as my compact camera I may be willing to pay a bit more and go for an s6 or g4 to save carrying 2 devices.

Frankly I wouldn't bother. Had the run around from their phone customer service center (jump hurdles and hoops to chat to someone) and their live chat. When it comes to hot deals like this, Vodafone customer services are worse than useless. I along with many others experienced that with the LG G2 sale in 2014. It's basically a case of ordering and then simply hoping for the best because if something goes wrong at Vodafone's end, you're highly unlikely to get the phone you ordered, even after spending hours on the phone, chat, email etc. with Vodafone. It's completely pointless.
Jiggy188 to kgman
12 Jan 16#61
Totally agree. I am going to give a day or so and see if a dispatch via the warehouse is made at all or even an order is made to them. Apparently I haven't paid them and need to prove to them I did so...

You're right, I too ordered the G2 on blackfriday 2014, and didnt get the phone. Instead I got a much nicer Sony Z2 for £150 and couldn't be happier. I just had to wait! I bought my G4 from ebayer for £279.00 in the end as I did not want to mess with removing the Vodaphone skin or unlocking it etc. What a cracking phone it is for the money. The only real fault I can find with it is that the camera lens is flush with the back of the phone so it will be very prone to scratching. As I bought the leather backed version I had hoped to get away with not buying a case but I think I will have to because of that.

Recieved mine today.
Ok, so it looks small and slim than my nexus 6, 5.9 " screen.
I thought it has a leather back case, No, it's hard plastic leather look !
I had to download every app again on my play store
The box from outside was very dirty I'd say.
Question, does the £10 top up start straight away? I already have £3 left from my 3G network.

Yes, I got involved in the LG G2 Black Friday Fiasco.
I've been after a couple of G4 for a couple of weeks.
I rang the CEO's office on Friday to complain about the way the stock situation with G4 was handled. The magically found me 2, and I received them today.

It's a good idea to have a Vodafone sim registered online which you can use for these type of deals. I registered one for £10 when they were doing the LG G2 deal, and have used it for various PAYG phones I've bought from them since.

I have and NEVER will be signed upto to these clowns i am with 3 have been last 5 years are they are superb. I have 3 contracts in my household with them me my wife and son.. and a PAYG for another of my son's on EE who are pretty decent too.
Soooo this deal over 2 years works out at £9.79 a month for the phone and my rolling 3 contract is £12 a month for AYCE data and 5000 texts 200 mins.. So a decent phone over 2 years with a great package deal at £22 a month. NO contract could touch this anywhere.

Yeah I was thinking to grab something similar, sim only plan cheapish, now I pay 26 for 600min/1gb data (it is enough given I have wifi at home/work/uni), and that I swap my phones every few months anyway (geeky me). Either way, no more dealing with vodafone, unless I could find one in store, then Id buy one:) but no ordering from vodka online, ever...

mmm yeah 1gb fine for standard if you are connecting upto wifi for most of it.. Hi guys, just got my red leather back (511) on Friday, the phone is great but battery lasts 1 day max currently, hopefully after a few days it will start lasting more as it gets used to my using of the phone. Need some help with a couple of things if anyone can advise:
1)Need to get rid of Voda branding (splash screen & update services/apps) to hopefully improve battery life and performance, how do you do that and is there a risk of bricking the phone?
2)Would you guys suggest upgrading to Marshmellow? Will it improve battery life? And also what's the best way to do that? Will it remove the Voda splash screen and update apps?
Hoping for some help to make the best out of this phone! Thanks!

i did mine using the lgup utility. LG bridge couldn't find any updates for some reason. flashed the stock H815 v20b rom, and the Vodafone splash screen is now gone. now I have to work out how to remove the Vodafone update app.
Battery life is rubbish. I've had mine a week now and it doesn't last much more than a day. my mate 7 was superb and had a bigger, but lower resolution, screen. it also had a much bigger battery though.

Once you've pirchased your unlock code, follow instructions below to unlock. I used the second method.
Insert An Unsupported sim card in your phone [NEW ONE ] Enter NCK CODE OR SPCK CODE
NCK = NETWORK CODE
SPCK = SERVICE PROVIDER CODE
OR
2nd Method
1. Power on the Phone with Accepted Sim card or Without Sim Card.
3. On your Keypad Dial 2945#*xxx# Press Send xxx is your model Number For example if you have L70 MS 323 so Dial 2945#*323# Write Your phone model number
Choose Network Lock and Use NCK CODE
If you get a message "Your Phone is not personalized"
Then
Choose Sim Service Provider Lock and Use SPCK CODE .

I had success yesterday, OOS in my two local stores, but one extremely helpful guy (sorry, didn't get his name) in Sutton Coldfield Whatsapped other stores and I got a grey one from another nearby store. Almost feel guilty now that I've unlocked it, popped my 3 SIM in and used LG Up to upgrade it it to Marshmallow (I used v20d kdz file, I'm hoping that's ok - it certainly seems to be ok). I upgraded rather than "refurbished", which is I guess is probably why I haven't been able to lose the Vodafone splash screen or Vodafone update app, but I was able to successfully delete a load of other bloat. I also put Nova on as I'm just not used to LG phones.
Was concerned about battery life, but it seems fine. The Doze feature certainly seems to do the job, barely losing any juice at all when it's at sleep, and when it's awake, the device is extremely responsive and just flies. All in all I couldn't be happier, as I was thinking about getting a Nexus 6p 64gb which would have been twice the cost. I reckon the only thing I'm missing is the fingerprint scanner, really. For about £250 difference, I think I can live with that.
This has got to be the best bang per buck phone out there.

I managed to get the last one in Farnham, it was contract which he converted to PAYG and had to buy the big bundle for £10 on top of £225, but still an amazing deal. The sales guy from Guildford tried to order me one but said they couldn't even back order because there weren't any in the warehouse, he told me there was 1 left in Farnham and bingo!
I just used this guy from ebay to unlock the phone, the code arrived in 40 minutes after I placed the order, £2.59! Phone is now unlocked!
Visited a store in Glasgow today and was told no stock, asked if they had any pay monthly they could convert and she gave me a weird look and asked if i worked for Voda

If we do unlock with ebay code, will that not give any issue like wiping IMEI number for that mobile? I'm just worried if we lost the IMEI number, I think we need to forget about 2 years warranty with LG. Any thoughts???
hukdus to londontrip17
27 Jan 161#330
I have done mine with the ebay code and the IMEI has not disappeared from my phone. Think about it logically - there is only one code and either Vodafone can charge you an arm and a leg for it, or you can get it off another company.
I would be amazed if Vodafone or LG voided the warranty because you'd used an unlock code. I can understand if you'd flashed the entire phone and change the software completely or opened it up and went crazy with a soldering iron....

The vibe alerts don't work on mine no matter what i do i cannot get it to vibrate when i receive emails etc and also the LED alerts don't seem to work all important to me!!! This is my personal view and i am sure others might feel the same.

If I'm completely honest it doesn't feel like a major upgrade for me compared to my Nexus 4 (released in 2012!). The screen is fine but I'm struggling to get used to the size of the phone itself. The best part for me is the camera which is great. I guess I'm just more into the "pure google" Nexus experience.
DocRobotnik to judging
28 Jan 16#343
For me it's the fact that comparably high end camera phones (Galaxy S6, iPhone 6S, Xperia Z5) are all near £400, making this a no-brainer bargain if you can get it, especially considering that it has a replaceable battery and SD slot. Also, the image stabilisation and low light performance of the camera are superb.

I was interested in how it compared to the Nexus 4. Mine still does everything I want it to. Battery life is still very good. I was hesitating as this is an excellent price and it's an LG like the Nexus 4, but I think I'll hold out for the 6P to come down in price a bit.

The main reason why I bought this phone is because I really can't be dealing with low storage on my Nexus 4 anymore. Also because it's LG. I have the 8GB Nexus 4 and no sd card slot as you know, clearly not enough storage! I would've got the 6P but I really don't trust Huawei phones anymore, I find them to be bad quality. LG phones are amazing quality and this is definitely a great deal for the price.

I still have the opportunity to return it. Then the Moto X 2nd deal comes out and its pure Android with screen off notifications which is what I want but poor camera and battery. If you've already made your mind up about the phone, then fair enough. I don't want to state the obvious, but have you tried googling your niggles? For example, the vibrate was too intense on one if my previous handsets, so I found an app called good vibrations that let me customise notifications.
As for LED notifications, you could try light flow or even no led.
I upgraded to a HTC one M8 last summer, absolutely hated it, despite it being very popular. Didn't like the notifications, didn't like that it didnt sync my Google photos, amongst many other things, so I sold it and went back to my Nexus 4 which is still going strong. I was considering the G4, mainly as it's manufactured by LG, like my Nexus, but I'm still on the fence.

Right guy's..I have messed with this phone LOADS!!! with flashing etc from standard lollipop to MM. 20C firmware with MM seems to give me less problems than the 20D one which i feel was messing with certain settings. I have now installed light flow which to be honest is not something i like to do normally as i feel the phones should be fine default as all my samsungs have been. Light flow is VERY good but it has a notification for MM that needs to be activated on screen which is annoying but at the moment the best i can get. So keeper at the moment...it certainly keeps ya hands warm it get very hot lol.
Well what I've done now is basically "forced" myself to get used to it. I moved everything over to the LG G4 and completely wiped my Nexus 4. Messed around with the settings to get it to be more like what I had on my Nexus. The more I use it the more I'm liking it. I find small useful things here and there which are great. Loving the camera quality, 4G, and SD card slot which are things the Nexus 4 lacks in.
One thing I dislike is the status bar at the top. It just looks messy and the layout is not nice. I prefer the status bar on the Nexus 4 where you scroll twice to get the various features.
I think the problem I had (and a few others who are still thinking whether or not to purchase this phone) is that it's so hard to let go of a phone that you don't have any issue with in the first place! Once you get used to it and make use of the features it's great, so thumbs up from me

Well said same here..I had to use it a bit try to get it similar to my S5. Like you say the software is a bit messy not very polished at all. Camera very good. The text sizes on different messaging apps os annoying. SMS its small whatsapp its big emails it's even smaller and very annoying that i have to keep bumping up the emails to load them onto the screen!!! Oh and battery life is HORRENDOUS!! i thought my S5 was bad but this thing eats the battery. First smartphone i have had that has not made the whole day during average use...I am not a heavy user especially at the weekend. And boy does this thing take a long time to charge also.

30 Jan 16#400
Do you mean you have to load emails manually? Because you can easily change it to autosync in the settings. That's odd about the battery, mine charges quite quickly and lasts long depending on usage and apps. I do the obvious things like disable all the apps that I don't use, keep the brightness at the lowest, charge only when it alerts me and discharge when it reaches 100%.

First make sure that everything is synced so go to Settings - Accounts & sync - Autosync data
Then go to Settings - Sound & notification - Notifications - Apps - then click on the particular app settings you want - change it to "allow peeking".
If "blocked" is ticked you'll get no notifications at all so see which apps are blocked by clicking on the "All Apps" dropdown and selecting "Blocked".
Go to Settings - Sound & notification - notifications - notification LED- make sure it is on - click on it and make sure everything on the list is ticked especially "downloaded apps". If it's still not working it's probably to do with the settings within the app, so go that particular app and check notifications are on, synced etc.
Tip for those that hate the default Whatsapp notification where it comes up like a bar at the top of the screen instead of just the icon - Whatsapp settings - Notifications - Notification tone - change it to Silent - change vibrate to Off - change popup to No Popup - do the same for group notifications if you want.
Now you'll get just the small whatsapp icon at the top when you are messaged and the LED flash too if you've selected it.
Same goes with text message notifications. Go to your text message settings - Notification settings - Notifications ticked - Message popup unticked - Preview unticked - Notification sound Silent - Vibrate Never - and Repeat Never. Now just the messaging icon will appear.

Hi guys, today I have managed to get 1 lg g4 in store locally (surprisingly they got a fresh batch today, despite them telling me they would not get anymore). It was a contract phone but changed to pay no problem took like 10 mins. I have a question, because I have seen the unboxing and the piece i got, also had a gold plastic back (which was not shown in unboxing). It is a nice touch of course, but did you guys get a gold plastic back along leather one as well?

Well, Facebook has been investigated and reported by a few users. They mention it is not reporting how many processes it is running under app usage on the phone and those processes are instead being reported as being run by the system apps. Some users are using an app called 'Metal' instead.
I don't use the Facebook app and am getting more than a days usage (admittedly, I'm not using 1hr of video per day), but plenty of Whatsapp messages and music.
This might by old news to you but I'd thought I'd mention it for other users to consider. The article below gives links to the Reddit thread and another article on Android authority about the situation:

Mate most of us including myself have the MM update and its not made a difference at all. All these tips and tricks about deleting this and disabling that also do not make a JOTS worth of difference. Its simply a hardware combination from LG that makes this phone drain so quickly.

4 Feb 161#470
Reckon it's simply too powerful? Surely we could be able to pick up a battery with bigger capacity soon? Hopefully LG release an official one.
Normally drained 3% over 3hrs idling on lollipop. Last night drained 19% on marshmellow. It's running a bit warmer too. Going to have to factory reset.

But i havn't tried it and its probably as good as the £10 turbo Aukey i bought lol by the sounds of things, as that takes around 50 mins to charge so i wasted money, as the LG G4 does not advertise its charger as being a quick (Turbo) charger i bought the Aukey.

Mine still seems to drain quicker since MM upgrade. Unfortunately I didn't note usage before the upgrade so this is just gut feel.
Battery life at time of writing (12.40) is 73%, previously at lunch time I think it would be around 80-85%
I think I've used it less today, probably through caution, than because I didn't want to. SOT 35 mins 53seconds (screen used 25%) so far...
However in one article I read about Doze, it suggested it kicks in when the phone is completely still eg. Laid flat on a desk, when none of the accelerometers etc are active. Mine is in my pocket and I walk around a lot not necessarily using it. I wonder if the old battery optimisation was better for my type of use?
If it lasts until 10 or 10.30 pm I'll be happy, I don't need a phone that runs for 36hrs. Will update this thread later if it helps anyone compare.
rev6 to thedon
4 Feb 16#478
27% seems a lot for just 35 minutes on screen time. Do you have your phone doing much with the screen off?
thedon
4 Feb 16#479
Not that I know of, I don't really listen to music in the daytime or anything I think the phone should be doing. I do have WiFi, Bluetooth, Google now active when screen on, and location all on (but not NFC).
usage update 14.47:
Battery life now showing as 52% (est. 6h 25m remaining)
SOT 1hr 5m
So a drop of 21% of battery for roughly 30 Mins screen on time. Seems to be too much drain to me.
thedon
4 Feb 16#480
Dropped a further 3% to battery 49%:in the 7 Mins screen on time it took me to flick between windows and write the previous post.
Perhaps it's a calibration thing whilst the battery meter works out where full and empty is, and how much each process uses?
Interestingly under Android battery usage there an entry showing keep awake 4hr 22min - I wonder what that is?
thedon
4 Feb 16#481
Hmm not awful but not good either. Battery now (17:24) down to 23%.
Screen usage 35%, screen on time 1hr 53. Brightness is set to auto, usually around the 30% mark.
Only light usage and one short phone call since last check 2hrs 25 Mins ago above.
I'm going out later, so better put it back on charge.
Any ideas anyone?

Marshmellow has ruined the phone for me as it stands. Mine is draining over 50% on standby idling over 7 hrs.
I'll have to try the factory reset to see if it makes a difference. Or revert back to lollipop 10d.
Yh it looks about right, cross checked with instructions from XDA forum. The Kdz files are apparently genuine LG stock files, and as the LG up software is legit factory software, I'd imagine you can only flash 100% stock files with it. Meaning the KDZ files must be untouched. Is this correct?
I was concerned about downloading random Kdz files from the net. I want my phone to be standard using original, non rooted lollipop software.
At least doing this will unbrand the phone. I'm going to do it tonight. Battery drain is ridiculous. And I haven't noticed any obvious functional or speed improvements with marshmallow.

So after reading all 25 pages of this thread this morning I've come to some conclusions.
Hkphooey you must have a dodgy handset as i have been reading this thread for nearly two hours and my battery is showing 93% still. Plus my led notfucations and vibrate work perfectly fine. It's quite comical to read all your posts about this phone. Moaning like hell about it not coming and then getting a faulty one!
Still back to my question. I'm after one of the circle cases or maybe a different one and one got a recommendation?

I'd suggest holding off the Marshmallow upgrade until we know more about the apparent battery issues. I think the only new feature that was of interest is the "Doze" battery saver, but that seems to be doing the reverse at least in the first week after update.
My first day or two after MM on the G4 had fantastic battery life, but it seemed to plummet after that. Still love the phone though.

So many cases out there its crazy. I went for a verus case but I feel it adds too much bulk so I've ordered a hybrid case. From what i can make out, the circle cases dont protect the back camera and some dont shut properly.
I upgraded to MM and after 2 days i dont think the battery is as good as it was on lollipop. I'll give it a week but i may revert back to lollipop.
Edit - Will try the factory reset first as cakeface mentions.

Mate flashing the KDZ does not unbrand the start up Vodafone boot unfortunately, there is no solution to this. It will get rid of the small amount of Voda apps though. The Europe open KDZ was excellent it did this but had error on boot. I was thinking of flashing my carrier branded firmware!!! rather have that then the Vodafone rubbish but thought better of it while the phone is under warranty.

I tried a factory reset on marshmallow. And only reinstalled WhatsApp and Snapchat for now. Got 5 hrs sot mostly using whatsapp and 30% battery remaining (6hrs since fully charged). Lost just 3% idling over night, 6 hr time period. I think youll agree - Slightly better vs losing 50%+ yesterday night idling!!
Last bit of battery plummeting. Now 23% after typing this from 26. Wonder if it will still be OK after installing the rest of my apps....

I've been reading this thread carefully for the last couple of days, and yesterday took the plunge and got a PAYG red leather G4 from vodafone in Long Eaton - they still have a couple in stock as far as I am aware. Mine is a 512 serial so I am waiting to see other people's experiences of unlocking via ebay. So far it seems the only successful route is via http://www.unlock-network.com at £10.99.
Anyway having had a browse around the interweb I came across the following XDA page, which seems to imply it is possible to remove the Vodafone splash screen on G4, by substituting with the original animations:
As yet I've not touched my G4, and was wondering what the best order of operation was. I thought:
1. Update to MM if available either OTA, or via LG bridge
2. Unlock
3. Debloat Voda apps
4. Replace boot animations
Does this sound a sensible approach?
Sorry for the long post!
Cakeface91
6 Feb 16#499
On 11% now, 40 mins sot later. Just using WhatsApp mostly. Bit of browsing. 0% brightness set for this time. Battery saver since 15%.
I estimate at least another 15/20 mins sot at this rate. Giving 6.5hrs sot total. And 13.5hrs total on battery charge.

I linked to the same debloater tool way back on page 14 - post 269. I used it myself and it seems to work. I don't think it could get rid of the Vodafone software completely as I'm not rooted, but it prevents the Voda apps from cluttering your app tray and I assume stops it running.
On mine, the Voda app was near the bottom of the list of APKs (approx 1/3 down the whole list) and called com.vodafone.vodafone360updates
see screenshot
The only issue I had was a driver/usb problem when hooking up the phone, so the debloater tool couldn't see my phone at first.

I think so, I doubt that using it has caused my battery issue at the moment (which increasingly just looks like first weeks calibration) and Debloater doesn't seem to have any negative effect.
I'm much happier not seeing the ugly Voda icons in my app drawer.
After using Debloater I think the blocked Voda Apps still appear in "Idle Apps" if you look in Settings/General/About Phone/Update Center/App Updates at the very bottom of the list.

The only Vodafone app I can see is updates. Which when I tap recognises that I'm not using Vodafone so does nothing. I'm using nova prime launcher too so I could remove the app from the drawer anyway. I can't see how it could run or effect the battery in any way.

On Marshmallow and not unlocked yet 19:46 battery still 57%. Made calls, internet browsing, Twitter, Facebook use. Battery not as bad as some would claim
Has anyone worked out what to do with the £10 top up? I've got £20.
Anyone updated to marshmallow yet? I want to but keep hearing stories about terrible battery life.

My battery has definately improved since last week, although not quite as good as I hoped Doze would bring (in truth it doesn't seem any better than before the upgrade to marshmallow. This said it looks like the phone has to be ]motionless before Doze will kick in )
I've tried to keep a record of the stats showing the improvement over the past week or so, copied below in case it helps anyone.
So I'm still very happy with the phone, battery life is back at an acceptable level giving me a whole working days use with a normal'ish usage pattern. This said I'm sure I've subconsciously been using it less since the initial battery issue, to make sure a) my tracking results are consistent/comparable and b) the phone is still usable until I get home to my charger!
Edit: I've realised that I didn't clarify that my usage on Sat/Sun is very different to midweek, also the phone not being taken off charge until 9/9.30 am whereas on a weekday it's unplugged from around 7.15 am.

Im sure i was getting a SOT of 2hrs30mins on lollipop. Not getting that on MM. But I only had the phone a week before putting MM on. So could be that i wasnt using the phone much when i first got it. Still not convinced with MM though.
Cakeface91
10 Feb 16#531
What kind of SOT are we all roughly getting from a full battery?
On WiFi between 5 and 5hr 30mins. Mainly browsing and whatsapp.
Drops down to 4hrs with some data usage. And a bit of video.
With proper use possibly 3-4hrs. All with auto screen brightness.
speric07 to Cakeface91
10 Feb 16#532
5.5 hours of screen on time is pretty impressive!
thedon to Cakeface91
17 Feb 16#537
Wow, I'm not sure my G4 would do that on two charges! but my SOT has slowly crept up to the two hour mark (normal usage - 4G data, WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC all running)
I thought I'd do a factory restore this morning to see if anything improves, and so far it seems a lot better (much like MM did after initial install). I'll let you know if it makes any significant difference after it's settled down again - however I would point out that doing a Factory restore/reset is a pain in the @rse to put all your 2FA security stuff back into Authenticator and recreate secure tokens for my bank app etc - just be warned anyone thinking of doing it that it's not a 10 minute job
It did of course restore to MM (Android version 6) V20d-234-15
At the time of posting (20:30) my battery is on 61%, screen usage 31%, SOT 1hr 45m which seems pretty good to me?

For those that want good battery life and to rid themselves of the Vodafone boot screen try 20E, flash via LG UP so warranty is not invalidated.
A lot of people seem to say 20c is the best for battery.
Usage on battery 39hrs
SOT 1hr53
24% battery remaining
I think what drains my battery is the poor signal at home.

Well. I managed to get a £2.65 code from Ebay. The Ebay Seller sent it. Before I applied it I found that the phone was already unlocked !! Doh. I think it may have been a return as the box was different to my wife's phone. Anyhow.
This model was a 500 edition (seen in the inside of the phone) but the other I have is a 1000 edition which the Ebay guy could not unlock .. yet. I will try and flash the unlocked one via LG UP for the 20e. So far I have liked the Marshmallow but battery life is important. My Note 3 lasts all day but I think the LG will not.

That level of drainage appears to be good, similar to mine when I factory reset. However, over the past few days, a lot of the apps have updated themselves and subsequently I am back to the excessive battery drainage problem. Very annoying!
I'm likely to go back to Lollipop for now.

Penultimate day of honeymoon in Malaysia and guess what happens - the dreaded boot loop problem (505 model)! I was hoping this was something that happens to "other people" but sadly not... I've lost my photos (which for some reason did not backup to Google+ either) which is really annoying. The camera took some fab photos of the Petronas Towers at night which my Sony RX-100 could not (at least in terms of point and click mode).

LG products have been shockingly bad for me
It is just an rebadged Goldstar and the quality (or lack thereof shows)

I have this and posted the other deal a while back. Great phone but the battery life isn't as good as the LG G2 it replaced but I can get a day and usually down to 30% by 7pmwith 2.8 hours screen on time, some synching off. I'm kinda considering going back however, the camera is fantastic, with Manual mode too, and the fact it has a micro sd slot and removable battery is just brilliant... And it's newer.

8 Mar 161#552
Ok I've had my G4 for just over a month now and I could not be happier. I came from a G2 and have read hundreds of reviews both positive and negative about the G4, deciding to take the plunge based on my G2 experience and this offer from Vodafone.
My initial impressions were good right from the start in terms of build quality, speed and LG's additional functionality on top of the Android OS. I had an easy and immediate upgrade to Marshmallow the minute the phone was turned on and have had no issues at all with the exception of dire battery life. Or so I thought...
Immediately after upgrade to MM battery life was lasting about a day with moderate usage, clocking in at about 30% by about 4pm. A week latter I was at 30% by lunchtime with again moderate usage.
About a week ago I installed Greenify and after going through identifying those apps and processes that were rapidly draining the battery, a couple of reboots and I am now getting nearly 2 days on a full charge. I had also tried using Twilight to change the screen colour tone for late night usage, but found that this really zapped the battery despite claims that it doesn't.
So in summary, a great phone with battery issues, but work through them and you'll be rewarded

The Galaxy S6 has Marshmallow 6.0.1 on every network in the UK now except EE (no surprise there) and there's even a stock Samsung UK ROM. By all accounts this new ROM fixes all the main issues with the S6 in terms of battery life and horrible Lollipop bugs.
brookysm
11 Mar 16#615
Still doesn't fix overly saturated screen (user preference tbf), none removable battery or lack of memory expansion. S6 still can't touch the G4's audio either.
The S6 was a flop by usual Samsung standards hence why the S7 has stepped up and given at least one thing back users mainly avoided it for, the return of the SD card!

11 Mar 16#617
I own an S6 and I'm a heavy critic of it. The screen is one of the best on a smartphone period. The lack of sd card slot was obviously something that needs to wait, was too future thinking for the masses, it was obvious if you know the technical reasoning behind it. Non removable battery, well ok the S6 has bad battery life and should be much improved with 6.0.1, the S7 doesn't have a removable battery either as it's IP68 waterproof. The camera really is excellent on the S6, as I've said many times the S6 is exceptional hardware ruined by Lollipop.
Samsung took way too long to release Marshmallow and that's the reason I won't touch an S7 as it won't get Android N until a year after it was released.
The best flagship in terms of hardware last year was the S6, the Exynos chipset was better than any other flagship and the UFS storage way faster than even the NVMe storage on the iPhone 6S.
TL;DR
The S6 was last years best flagship but ruined by Lollipop. S6 + EE network = nightmare for updates.
What I dislike about the S6:
1. Battery life - improved significantly in 6.0.1? Possibly I'm on EE so I won't know until 2020+
2. Fingerprint sensor - Better than the S5, still useless though
3. Lollipop - A truly terrible version of Android, still not right even with 5.1.1, the earlier versions had memory leaks. Loads of bugs, what a crock of sh&t

No YouTube is broken on IOS, I use YouTube a lot and the functionality of YouTube is borked on IOS. Try this example:
Open YouTube on Android:
1. Search for a video
2. Notice that a suggestion videos are shown below the main video you selected
3. Notice that after you play the video you wanted to play you might want to go and check out some of the suggested videos
4. Select and play the video
5. Press back button and choose from the suggested videos
On IOS
Do steps 1-4
At step 5. Cry
Google have borked YouTube on IOS, there is simply NO way to go back to the suggested videos once you have played a video on IOS, you can swipe the video down and get rid of it, but it will only take you back to the main search page with the generic videos of the day, you lose the ability to go back to the previously suggested videos.
YouTube is broken on IOS, Google know this and also Google force you to install Google Chrome on IOS to use links. Google is evil. Google's motto is Don't be evil, Google lied.

I made my comment before February and it was about the g4 and the s6. You are a rude and pathetic troll.

12 Mar 16#626
No that's not the reason at all! Of course they could have put an SD Card in the S6. Samsung were forward thinking in that they want a unified experience, the problem is the amount of storage they offer is not enough, we need to start seeing a minimum of 64GB storage on phones now.
So to clarify, it wasn't because Samsung couldn't do it, they didn't want to. Look at the performance difference between UFS 2.0 and micro SD, a massive performance difference, so they're looking to unify everything by keeping everything on the fast storage. Think of it in PC terms your 256GB SSD runs out of space, so you have to resort to installing your game on a much slower HDD, this impacts your game load times significantly.
This is the reason why the S6 didn't get it and they backed tracked because consumers need more storage. The idea was right but none of the phone manufacturers are putting 64GB+ as standard in their flagship phones. There's no reason why you can't have 128GB even.

13 Mar 16#627
I would urge extreme caution in buying this phone.
I bought it in December and suffered the bootloop problem (S/N 505) in February, whilst on my honeymoon and so lost quite a few photos. I appreciate that tt was my fault that I did not back them up but when you're travelling, this is a low priority! Upon my return, I sent it to Vodafone for repair and received it a couple of days ago and was without it for 9 days in total.
Whilst the phone now boots normally - all of the original problems remain. The phone frequently overheats (reaching 38-42C) and the battery life is atrocious - even with minimal usage (and taking the usual steps like turning off location, minimising brightness etc). Yesterday (the first full day of usage after receiving it from repair), the battery was down to 50% in about six hours. During this time, I only surfed the internet casually (nothing strenuous like watching videos etc). My wife's Moto X Play was at 76% during the same period and she had been using it a lot (e.g. telephone conversations).
There's no doubting that this is a great phone (the camera in particular is superb) but who wants a phone with such reliability issues? I always thought that the types of problems you read about here only happen to 'other people' but I've been proven wrong!

13 Mar 16#628
Those with poor battery should observe how much the phone drains whilst just idling. Charge up to 100% and unplug from charger before sleeping. Then see how much it drains over night.
Sometimes mines drains nothing. Other times over 50% over 7/8 hours.

I love everything about the phone apart from the horrendous battery life. I charged it to 100% last night and I'm currently at 16%. I used it for maybe 30 minutes this morning when I woke up and have hardly touched it since. Can't believe how bad the battery drain is. I would use my Xperia Z3 strenuously and it would easily last over a day.

Got my phone (H815 with Red leather cover) yesterday and overall I'm impressed. The biggest surprise was that the phone worked straight away with my Giffgaff SIM, not sure whether it was unlocked or not locked in the first place. The Battery life with Marshmallow seems reasonable (SOT looks like 4-5 hours approx.) so with average use it should last a day. But my main problem is that the Bluetooth is getting switched off after some time without any reason. I have searched all the forums and tried all different methods like clearing Bluetooth cache and unpairing/pairing, turning off all battery saving options but still the Bluetooth is switching off after couple of minutes. This is very annoying as I use an Android Smart watch and I cant use the watch if this problem persists. Have anyone seen this problem? Other than that I cant fault the phone. I am aware of the bootloop issue but all my data is backed up in the cloud so I'm not that concerned about that issue. Also need to test the Mirrorlink functionality in my car.

God, I hate this phone. I've already suffered from the bootloop problem and now all my calls keep on cutting out (even in areas of high reception). Coupled with the awful battery life, it's been a really pain. If it worked as intended then it'd be great but in practice I really regret buying it!

Same here, battery life shocking, and gets dangerously hot most of time.any ideas anyone how to resolve these issues?

bad luck mate. bought it when this was about and haven't had one problem. been a really good budget flagship phone for me.

Just to warn you one minute it was working fine then literally turned it off tried to turn back on and it was basically stuck in the bootloop and that was it couldn't turn it back off and more worringly as it tried to reset itself the battery just got hotter and hotter after trying and praying for it to go back to normal thank god the back comes off otherwise i dont know what would have happened. It had to go away for a week but since it came back no issues so hopefully that is it sorted.Just to warn anyone who has this phone if you havnt already make sure you got a backup of your contacts and any photos you want to keep otherwise they will be gone forever.
This all happened within in the last month

If your phone does have to go away as i found out they dont have to go and give you a courtesy phone the girl just looked at me then i had to goto 3 different vodafone stores before i found the last one.

Honestly when it was going through this issue if the back wasnt able to be taken off the battery was getting incredibly hot in the end i think of only 1 or 2 things would have happened either the battery would have run out or the battery would have melted causing god knows what damage. With all the different forums LG must be aware of this issue.

Yes the nearest vodafone store is only 10 minutes away and the girl said she had heard of no others been returned due to this issue

Mine's still going strong months later, however it was from a different batch which apparently doesn't have the bootloop problem.
I have noticed that on raw photos there's a greenish colour tinge on the photos on the right hand side? Does anyone else get this problem?
I'm still on Lollipop, is it worth updating the software to Marshmallow? And will everything be on the phone post upgrade, or does it erase everything prior to doing the update?
(I have no idea with Android but with Apple it didn't, i'm a bit of a noob to this haha)

Unbelievably my phone has just suffered from the bootloop problem AGAIN! I've already sent the phone back twice for repair - it's become a joke. And just to add to the woe, LG's customer services is closed this weekend due to a systems upgrade. I want to speak to them directly before returning the phone to Vodafone...

Have you tried applying pressure on the phone? I read somewhere you could successfully boot the phone if pressure applied in a certain area. I've been lucky with mine - but after long usage the screen does bleed and fade somewhat but usually goes after a few minutes of off time.
Opening post
Amazing phone is in stock now but how long for?

Any advice how to manage 3 days on the G2 - is that a custom ROM?

Ok, so it looks small and slim than my nexus 6, 5.9 " screen.

The box from outside was very dirty I'd say.
Question, does the £10 top up start straight away? I already have £3 left from my 3G network.
where can i enter it as thr mobile lets me use it but just without calls.
iv tried switching it off too
I've been after a couple of G4 for a couple of weeks.
I rang the CEO's office on Friday to complain about the way the stock situation with G4 was handled. The magically found me 2, and I received them today.

If it is stuck on stage 2 then that is not a good sign.
But I didn't choose store collection I actually chose home delivery...
Also didn't get an email after the confirmation one.
Does the phone come with a wireless charger or do you have to buy one and where is the cheapest / best?
Also has anyone used the Urban Armour Gear and will that allow wireless charging? (Is the case any good btw as I used this on my Note and it was amazing)?
I bought this phone for the camera so hope its a step up from my current Note 3 which has been pretty good
I thought the LG G4 had it built in but you have to change a cover to allow it. Cheap solution. Has anyone done this ? Is it worth it?
But you need a cheap wireless charger too. Also if the phone has fast charging does wireless charging make any difference to the speed ?
found this too .. so probably easier but no protection :disappointed:

Soooo this deal over 2 years works out at £9.79 a month for the phone and my rolling 3 contract is £12 a month for AYCE data and 5000 texts 200 mins.. So a decent phone over 2 years with a great package deal at £22 a month. NO contract could touch this anywhere.

WEIRD yet i have a email and text from them to say my order will be delivered today???? does this company have a CLUE what it is doing??? i mean seriously whats going on!!!
That was an hour ago. Here's hoping, although would be nice to track order status online. How long did people generally wait for an update beyond my current status?
I wanted the spigen Neo Hybrid but looks like its only available in the US!!! what a shame
Thanks!
Battery life is rubbish. I've had mine a week now and it doesn't last much more than a day. my mate 7 was superb and had a bigger, but lower resolution, screen. it also had a much bigger battery though.
Wow just saw this... Not on mine, I had to dial a code.
Model: LG H815
1 - Insert a non-accepted or an accepted sim card
2 - Go to dial screen and press 2945#*815#
How do you get it to ask for an unlock code?
I phoned Cust Services and was waiting and waiting so switched off and their Customer Chat is offline (has been all day).
Huh.
Insert An Unsupported sim card in your phone [NEW ONE ] Enter NCK CODE OR SPCK CODE
NCK = NETWORK CODE
SPCK = SERVICE PROVIDER CODE
OR
2nd Method
I'm trying to find a decent case and screen protector, I saw some links the other day, but for the life of me I can't find them now.
Any recommendations? Or if you know where the linkies are can you re-link please?
completely useless people!
I will be very dissapointed if they cancel now. Considering two of their representatives on CS chat have told me my order has been confirmed and accepted :/
Why did they cancel yours? Did you get an email?
I was told that mine will be fulfilled .. here's hoping
After a chat online I called CS and they cancelled mine without even asking me!?
Today I went to the store that my order was supposed to go and I found my order there delivered ... and guess what? I can't take it because is cancelled already. However the guy in the shop assured me that I will get it till couple of days ... when it's released
I personally don't think its all that ok for the cash don't get me wrong but nothing i would go through the hassle to own.
Other members on here have been stuck on stage 2 and received phone. So it's just a waiting game. Time given is 2-4days. Fingers crossed by Friday!
Ordered mine friday still on stage 2 CS are useless phoned 3 times, 2 online chats and 2 in store visits. Had an email yesterday afternoon saying it was ready to be picked so went in this morning and its not there. Called again they assured me it will be there by friday, we'll see...
Something to be aware of before buying this phone! I benefitted from the HTC M8 last year so know they can be legit deals from Vodafone... But if I am a cynic then this sale happened just before this! Of course you're still covered!
On a separate topic, I tried updating to Marshmallow through LG Bridge, but it said my phone was up to date.
oos, oos
oos, oos, oos
not sure how many stores vodafone have in UK so I could write Out of Stock for that many times
I just used this guy from ebay to unlock the phone, the code arrived in 40 minutes after I placed the order, £2.59! Phone is now unlocked!

I would be amazed if Vodafone or LG voided the warranty because you'd used an unlock code. I can understand if you'd flashed the entire phone and change the software completely or opened it up and went crazy with a soldering iron....

So you can expect that back in stock very soon.
You: at 10:03:02
So stock is expected in BEFORE Feb 1st? i.e. today or tomorrow?
Sofia: at 10:03:12
Yes, you are correct!
As for the screen, you're trolling.
I had the S4 before this, and trust me, it is a huge upgrade - so much faster, camera is far better, software is much more user orientated, and you can customise it. Let's not forget the S5 wasn't too much of an upgrade from the S5.
Ignore the online stock counter - speak to Vodafone customer support on phone or live chat and ask for the direct phone numbers for your local stores, then call them.
I got the last one at the Peterborough Serpentine store. It was in stock and unreserved.
Good luck.
I am still using my S5 as not too keen on this.
I *think* mine is the 512 model, meaning it was made in December for those that were worrying about the bootloop issue. Also, my order status was showing stage 2 for a while, and only got notified by email today that it arrived in store - for those worrying the same. I actually ended up going in to store to check minutes before the email arrived as incase you havent yet discovered, Vodafone are quite horsekak.
Can someone help point me in the right direction regarding unlocking a 512 please? I havent yet had a chance to look through the forums. Thanks,
But for £225, c'mooon guys?! Its spot on! (I upgrade from a pooey iphone 4s, so naturally i'm easily impressed :stuck_out_tongue:).
Seller only operates until 6pm, so I used a different person. Need it unlocked asap.

Is it 10d with lollipop??? cheers
Yes i have been through everything and i mean EVERYTHING..I have probbly flashed this back and forwards about 10 times lol c to b to d even the europe unbranded which was cool but threw up a error on boot up but got rid of the Vodafone boot image.i am use to sorting issues but for the life of me cant get this right. I have installed light flow that was supposed to be great but it didnt produce one single LED notification. Im now trying again on "C" MM trying to like it the camera is very good mind....if i can iron out these other issues i would keep it.
Once you get used to it and make use of the features it's great, so thumbs up from me
The new Marshmallow update did include "Battery Optimisation" which may have made a difference.
Its suggesting I need to just chance it and run in tomorrow :disappointed:
Also im not sure if I want this or a Nexus 6p now
Would you be able to show me how to get notification/icon when i recieve an email msg, whatsapp msg etc and also i dont seem to be geting the lights on the fone when i get recieve new notifications, (like i used to get with my htc m8)
any help guys ,very much appreciated
Now just the messaging icon will appear.
http://frankshin.com/facebook-notification-fix-android/
Hope that solves it
On my previous phone, its under Settings > Apps > [Choose App] and select disable. Gone to the same place on the G4 and the option's not there
Made no difference. Lol seems you solve one issue then get another..
haven't noticed anything else significant, still enjoying the phone though.
1 - Insert a non-accepted or an accepted sim card
2 - Go to dial screen and press 2945#*815#

I think Im going to join you in the bad battery camp, just fully charged it and its estimating 9 hours and its rapidly losing charge. Wtf.
What options do I need to turn off to fix this>?
No idea how the unlock system works but not looking good right now :-(
I don't use the Facebook app and am getting more than a days usage (admittedly, I'm not using 1hr of video per day), but plenty of Whatsapp messages and music.
This might by old news to you but I'd thought I'd mention it for other users to consider. The article below gives links to the Reddit thread and another article on Android authority about the situation:
uninstalling facebook app saves up to 20% of android battery life - The Guardian
Haven't tried it yet though.
As for hkphooey and 90% brightness, do you hang out with stevie wonder ? I could feel my eyes burning with it set that high :sunglasses:
The latest batch start with this.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261160583898?euid=10e8276f07074ec58e9b0586cbbb605a&cp=1
and my serial number starts 512
Thank you though!
Did you guys collect from store or get delivered?
Would hate to think that vodafone are not releasing them on purpose :disappointed:
Im thinking of going tomorrow
Iv bought the code and typed the above numbers to unlock, no avail.
Ordered a ,3 sim as that worked on mine 2 week ago
When I collected mine he said they hadn't sent a sim card with it and he was reluctant to release it at first.
although after a brilliant first two days, battery life seems to have worsened a bit now. it may be since I paired with some Bluetooth devices. I'll switch Bluetooth of and see if it improves.
I'll try the battery fix recommended in this article, and disable logging at the bottom of the screen in settings/about phone
Shame!!
Hopefully MM update will help with that though cos I love the phone so far.
Normally drained 3% over 3hrs idling on lollipop. Last night drained 19% on marshmellow. It's running a bit warmer too. Going to have to factory reset.
Checked, and it was set to log as per that link. Doesn't appear to be any rogue apps either.
Ok, I know I am not a heavy user but this phone seems fab after using it for three days. Also it charges fully up within an hour (with the charger bundled with it).
Ok, I know I am not a heavy user but this phone seems fab after using it for three days. Also it charges fully up within an hour (with the charger bundled with it).
But i havn't tried it and its probably as good as the £10 turbo Aukey i bought lol by the sounds of things, as that takes around 50 mins to charge so i wasted money, as the LG G4 does not advertise its charger as being a quick (Turbo) charger i bought the Aukey.
Will update this thread later if it helps anyone compare.
usage update 14.47:
Battery life now showing as 52% (est. 6h 25m remaining)
SOT 1hr 5m
So a drop of 21% of battery for roughly 30 Mins screen on time. Seems to be too much drain to me.
Perhaps it's a calibration thing whilst the battery meter works out where full and empty is, and how much each process uses?
Interestingly under Android battery usage there an entry showing keep awake 4hr 22min - I wonder what that is?
Screen usage 35%, screen on time 1hr 53. Brightness is set to auto, usually around the 30% mark.
Only light usage and one short phone call since last check 2hrs 25 Mins ago above.
I'm going out later, so better put it back on charge.
Any ideas anyone?
My G4 battery life has improved today so at time of posting I have 80% battery life left (73% this time'ish yesterday) with similar Screen on time of 34 mins 15 sec, so it looks like a good theory.
I'll have to try the factory reset to see if it makes a difference. Or revert back to lollipop 10d.
Anyone got instructions on how to do this?
http://www.droidopinions.com/how-to-downgrade-lg-g4-h815-to-5-1-1-lollipop/
I was concerned about downloading random Kdz files from the net. I want my phone to be standard using original, non rooted lollipop software.
At least doing this will unbrand the phone. I'm going to do it tonight. Battery drain is ridiculous. And I haven't noticed any obvious functional or speed improvements with marshmallow.
Does anyone have the spare battery and charger that's been posted on hot deals?
should I update to marshmallow?
Cheers
Have a quick butchers over here my friend http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g4-problems-fixes-621631/
My first day or two after MM on the G4 had fantastic battery life, but it seemed to plummet after that. Still love the phone though.
I upgraded to MM and after 2 days i dont think the battery is as good as it was on lollipop. I'll give it a week but i may revert back to lollipop.
Edit - Will try the factory reset first as cakeface mentions.
Last bit of battery plummeting. Now 23% after typing this from 26. Wonder if it will still be OK after installing the rest of my apps....
I was only getting 2hrs 30mins screen time before.
Anyway having had a browse around the interweb I came across the following XDA page, which seems to imply it is possible to remove the Vodafone splash screen on G4, by substituting with the original animations:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/themes-apps/stock-lg-g4-boot-animation-shutdown-t3168785
Also it seems like the Android debloater tool might get rid of the Voda apps:
http://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-remove-bloatware-from-your-android-device-xda-tv/
From what I can see neither require root access.
I estimate at least another 15/20 mins sot at this rate. Giving 6.5hrs sot total. And 13.5hrs total on battery charge.
I'm really sorry as I am sure this will have been answered many times but I have browsed three Vodafone G4 deals on here in search of a definitive answer.
If the device is unlocked by a third party will this affect the warranty?
I'm much happier not seeing the ugly Voda icons in my app drawer.
After using Debloater I think the blocked Voda Apps still appear in "Idle Apps" if you look in Settings/General/About Phone/Update Center/App Updates at the very bottom of the list.
The only Vodafone app I can see is updates. Which when I tap recognises that I'm not using Vodafone so does nothing. I'm using nova prime launcher too so I could remove the app from the drawer anyway. I can't see how it could run or effect the battery in any way.
Hkphooey. I'm not stalking. Your incessant ramblings have merely clogged the thread. I've come from a note 3 to this handset. Note 3 is a dinosaur compared to this as is your s5 which if I remember correctly was slated as their worst device in years.

Tried swift unlocks, no success there either!
Now waiting to hear back from unlock-network.com
Seems these guys are the only ones able to unlock 512 so well worth the £10.99 for me
Which company are you using? I have a 512 and after 4 tries no luck... thanks.
If you're trying ebay it seems none of the sellers have unlock codes for the most recent 512
You need to spend a tad extra and use these guys as they have no problems unlocking these recent batches.
All I get when I switch the phone on with a new sim is a 'service disabled' message but no unlock code screen.
Any help much appreciated.
On Marshmallow and not unlocked yet 19:46 battery still 57%. Made calls, internet browsing, Twitter, Facebook use. Battery not as bad as some would claim
Anyone updated to marshmallow yet? I want to but keep hearing stories about terrible battery life.
On WiFi between 5 and 5hr 30mins. Mainly browsing and whatsapp.
Drops down to 4hrs with some data usage. And a bit of video.
With proper use possibly 3-4hrs. All with auto screen brightness.
At the time of posting (20:30) my battery is on 61%, screen usage 31%, SOT 1hr 45m which seems pretty good to me?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/stock-h815-20e-kdz-t3304753
Usage on battery 39hrs
SOT 1hr53
24% battery remaining
I think what drains my battery is the poor signal at home.
I'm likely to go back to Lollipop for now.
LG products have been shockingly bad for me
It is just an rebadged Goldstar and the quality (or lack thereof shows)
would highly recommend paying a little extra for a Samsung with a much superior build quality
If you insist on android, dont settle for LG when you can buy Sammy or a nexus
Bargain for the price. Heat again Op. :-)
1: Buy it, get it unlocked and never have to speak / talk / communicate with VF ever again..
2: Get Marshmallow 6 on it and all the *issues* just melt away like butter on hot toast!
Red is the only color unless you went in store a few weeks ago and got this deal at this
price on a PM handset converted to PAYG that is / was black..
You can get the black covers for about £10-20, but TBH the red looks the part and is
a change from the norm!
Unlocking takes about 10 seconds with a working code for the bay ;-)
I'm using an S3 atm, which has just about had it's time..............Just gotta keep holding out mate!
It will come!! Haha!
Cheers mate, too late however as now OOS
Thats what i did
Kara: at 14:27:33
I am afraid but the phone is again out of stock now and so you are not able to order the same.
Kara: at 14:28:31
You may mostly be able to order it again around a week or 10 days later. We are expecting some stock from LG.
I used this link and clicked on availability at nearest store -
http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/contracts-and-deals/lg-g4/sku87191-grey
As mentioned this is for the contract version (same phone though) and the local store can convert it from contract to PAYG stock.
Good luck!
The "Your order has been accepted" bit is green in colour, but is not ticked yet.
Am I going to get this phone within the "2-4 days" I was told I would? It's a right pain in the ****, I don't understand why I can't get things delivered next day. Every other company seems to be able to do it! A phone is something people might actually NEED to get hold of soon (like me because my old one is broken!)
Which is a real shame as it's a tremendous phone other than the battery life.
I couldn't get any answers from customer services either over the phone or in store. Nobody had ever come across the situation before and as the sim card works in other phones they didn't see it as their issue.
I had to port my number to another network in the end :-(
At least I know I'm not the only person now. Was feeling quite lonely up to now ;-)
I've ordered a black carbon fibre skin from dbrand which will be applied to the gold cover. Using the red leather case at the moment and it looks brilliant.
Do not hesitate in buying this phone!
Yes price may be an issue, but quality and performance is important to me
The S6 was a flop by usual Samsung standards hence why the S7 has stepped up and given at least one thing back users mainly avoided it for, the return of the SD card!
Yes I have the same problem too with YouTube..iOS can be so annoying..they need to sort this out on the updates
I actually use an app called mxtube instead which is better but still a little clunky.. Try it out and see what you think!
Oh and the S7 is now on sale, the G5 isn't until the 8th April so your even more wide of the mark with your original comment!
BS marketing claims!
Sometimes mines drains nothing. Other times over 50% over 7/8 hours.
I will be upgrading as soon as the next "Bargain" like this comes along. Hopefully a Samsung
My Xperia z3 would only lose 1-2% overnight previously.
This all happened within in the last month
batter won't charge, seems something must be loose inside . charger is fine . so need to ring voda up
I have noticed that on raw photos there's a greenish colour tinge on the photos on the right hand side? Does anyone else get this problem?
I'm still on Lollipop, is it worth updating the software to Marshmallow? And will everything be on the phone post upgrade, or does it erase everything prior to doing the update?
(I have no idea with Android but with Apple it didn't, i'm a bit of a noob to this haha)
Annoying you've had that problem.
mine got the ghosting issue
