Seems as a really nice deal, just seen it 2 mins ago, how does it work? I mean, what do you have to replace over the time, anything like filters, cartridges, fillers, anything like that? How often do you do it and what's the price of any of those? Never had an electric one, I only was using ones with white flakes or something which were absorbing the moisture, sorry for silly questions then.

Not silly questions at all, Nothing will need replacing, you just plug it in and your off. when the tank is full, just pull it out and tip it down the drain, once a month pull the filter out and give it a vac (its just a plastic mesh filter) put it back and your ready to go again.
I used to use the granule things and still do for cupboards and things but having a bigger electric humidifier made all the difference. We generally empty it once or twice a day, it is amazing how much water it pulls out of the air, it switches off automatically when it is full. The house is drier and it is warmer because the moisture in the air made it feel cooler than it was, hard to explain, but yes we wouldn't be without it now.

Had one which broke down just after two years, I personally wouldn't buy it again. It worked well for those two years but I would have expected it to last longer.

Worth contacting the manufacturer as these things should last more than 2 years for that size of outlay, email them and see their response?

I am considering the same. We live in a large Victorian 4 bed so we really need one each for upstairs/downstairs
