I got the Salter Pro 1000 from a Robert Dyas offer on here last year (came to less than £40 delivered).
I've used it every day since and find it excellent. I can't really see any downsides or how it could be significantly bettered, particularly at this price. It comes with only one set of blades (I think the expensive Nutribullets may come with a spare blade base ?). It seems solid enough and well made with good rubber suction feet that stop it vibrating on the kitchen surface.
It's very powerful at 1000w and demolishes frozen fruit / ice / nuts etc. in seconds and leaves no little bits (eg nuts) either .. just a smooth liquid to drink :-).
However it is best to add liquid to frozen fruit to keep the smoothie at least pourable, otherwise you end up with a thick paste that the motor will slow slightly and get quite hot. I use semi or skimmed milk, Almond milk or Coconut milk for this rather than water.
It comes with three beakers, the largest being 1 litre ... so this is an advantage if you want to make smoothies for two !
I find it very easy to clean
My tips would be :
1. Never overfill it - best to keep under the three- quarter mark of the beakers.
2. Screw the beakers into the bade base quite tightly as they can loosen during blending (and leak)
3. Never use it for more than 30 seconds at a time (as per instructions) - that is plenty anyway.
4. Rinse the blades straight away after blending
5. Keep the outer sealing ring in the blade base clean (it's like a white silicone sealing ring)
6. To blend you either push and hold the beaker down for a few seconds or you can push and twist clockwise to lock the beaker in the blend position and remove you hand while it blends. Be careful when untwisting (to stop the blending) that you don't lift the beaker at the same time before the blades have fully stopped. I've done this a few times initially and it can grates/grind the contact points between the bottom of the beaker unit and the main unit.
7. There are three white plastics slots on the base unit that push down when the beaker+blades is attached for blending. These can occasionally get sticky (from leaks) and stiff. Every now and again they need cleaning by dabbing / pushing with hot water and kitchen roll - MAKE SURE UNIT IS OFF AT THE MAINS WHEN DOING THIS !!

Yes although Sainsbury's seems to be quite lax on their codes. They have been running discount codes for 2nd, 3rd time, 4th and 5th time shop (£10 off £50) - the current code on there expires today but should be a new one soon
