Hello i'm the original poster. and Unfortunately the place i live, i will upset the neighbours if i purchase a Subwooder, so i've been instructed by Richersounds to simply run the Floorstanders as ''Large'' and it should be fine

Tannoy make good speakers. I can't vouch for these ones, but unless the company have gone really downhill they should be alright. Richer sounds don't tend to sell trash either (not saying they sell the best, just generally not trash). Fair price for a full setup.

Not full. Its 5.0. The title needs to reflect this. But yes, Tannoy are good. These are entry level.

Great deal.
Its fascinated me for years how many favour image over sound. For me sound is 50% of the experience, possibly more. I have had a 5.1 system since I could first afford it in 2001 and will never go back to watching a TV screen without one. Forget about stereo speakers and sound bars, they are incomparible to 5.1 or more.

Are you still using the same 5.1 setup from 2001? also what setup is it

Truth. I just bought a sound base, mostly cos my wife preferred less clutter, but there is no comparison. Such is life.

I so agree with this post.
Having decent sound (5.0 or 5.1 surround) is more than 50% of a great cinema experience to me too.
(... and yes I have a BK Monolith DF in my set-up too, but that only gets switched on for movies and quality drama)

It will be OK. I have a four-speaker surround system (no subwoofer or centre speaker) and it works just fine.

will definately work with floorstanders and to be honest unless you have a fully detached house with large rooms, adding the sub as well as floor standers will be over kill. I have stand mounts so I need the sub.

I have used these speakers for over 6months and found them beefy enough without a subwoofer. The floorstanders can go to a low enough frequency and pack a punch. I've not known of the setting to change them to 'Large' - something I presume I need to do within the amp settings (there's so much to go through when you set them up), but I'll check that bit out

Perfect for first adventure into surround sound. Decent make and sound. Enjoy. Also being a decent company if you ever needed spares they will supply them unlike many other brands who discontinue products and offer no long term support.

I purchased the tannoy dc6t not so long ago and required a set of spikes and pads since they were missing from the box purchase at richersounds. Unfortunately after contact Tannoy, they did not have any spares to purchase. Feedback was prompt and they also said if they come in, in future that they would contact me:
"Congratulations on your new purchase, however, as the range has been discontinued, we no longer have these parts in stock to provide as spares. I shall keep a note of your details and should anything become available through a return I shall be sure to let you know."

You don't need a center or a sub, they just enhance the experience and the sub can reduce strain on the AV/amp and speakers, depending on crossover settings.

Originally - i was going to buy some satellite type setup & sub for like £150
thinking i've made a better choice spending a bit more
