How does a family holiday for 10 nights over Easter sound for under a £100pp sounds, based on a family of 4. Departing on 22 March and returning 1 April, this may suit some school holidays but it depends on dates as every school seems to be different! The hotel is the Gavimar Cala Gran Costa del Sur Hotel just 100 metres from the beautiful Cala Gran Beach. Cala D'Or centre with its restaurants, bars and shops is just 300 metres away.

"Little Johnny has a really sore throat two days before term ends"........nothing a ten day relaxing holiday in the sun for £394.54 wouldn't solve! :sunglasses: Heat added

Really? Easter is the last Sunday in March, strange to have the holiday a month later.

Out of interest (purely for my own curiosity) do schools actually fine parents now? I've never heard it being enforced and I just wondered if anyone has actually had a fine? Not that I'm condoning taking kids out of school.....

I have not personally taken my kids out of school (my wife is teacher at the same school so it would be extra bad) but I know people who have and they have not been fined but they are friends with the head teacher.

Yes, lots, their is a group on Fb - parents against school holiday fines. It's seems to be a way for LA to make money these days.

yes I'm a single parent and took my 2 children away last year. I not only got fined £60 per child but my ex husband was also sent the same fine which I was abliged to pay sins he had nothing to do with the holiday so ended up paying a total of £240! still a good few hundred pounds cheaper than going on holiday during the school breaks.

I think fine is implemented when it is 5 or more days, but would go unauthorized.

I think over the last few weeks its been decided that it is unlawful to fine parents who take kids on holiday in term times

My children go to 2 schools, my son has Autism and attends a special needs school, he got a letter saying it is acceptable to take term time holidays as he would struggle in busier times, like summer holidays.
My daughters school has to accept the ruling too even though it is a different school because it is a (I hate this phrase) "Human right to family life".
They both decline the "Absence request" but authorise an "Exceptional leave of absence"

Good price but no good for me. I did find a 7 night stay full board for 5 people with luggage and hire car for just over 1K which I think is good.

It should be more about ethics then fines. If a school and an education is provided by government at a great cost to the tax payer, it would be nice if the children attended.
