Out of practice regarding washing machines but ours started making a grinding noise tonight when you spin the drum by hand as if a button has come off something and is trapped somewhere.
How does this compare price wise?

Seems a great deal to me, by the way I've heard on the Stephen Nolan, Radio Ulster show that he was discussing the fact that a few families in N.I. had their Hoover Washing Machines explode on them. Perhaps best to avoid Hoover!

I have a Hoover 6kg 1600rpm. Bought it second hand 3 years ago. Works perfectly and hasn't let me down once. I recommend Hoover.

That grinding noise often means the bearings have gone.

I've owned the Zanussi brand washing machines for 8 years now. Last one didn't let me down, bought another last year and it's doing a perfect job. So no it's not a 'piece of trash'.
