"Sony Xperia Z2 can survive life's knocks" - lol, nope. I'm one of the most careful owners you could find but the Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z3 Compact have both cracked on me with minimal damage and I know two people who own this Xperia Z2 who have both had cracked backs and one break on the front - they are equally careful, and have owned a range of other handsets for years with no issues.
The Xperia line are fantastic handsets tech wise and the battery life on them are usually beasts but the whole build quality is very, very flawed. I love Sony products typically but I wouldn't recommend it from personal experience - cracked everything, and I owned both a case and a tempered glass cover.
Was on contract with my Xperia Z3 Compact until it broke and didn't fancy paying the excess on insurance nor turning it around AGAIN to Sony so bought a Moto G 3rd Gen 2GB to tide me over till my contract renewed. Got it on the Black Friday Amazon FR deal @ £130 and haven't looked back. If you're after a phone, get that one, I see it's on Sale again for around £139 from Amazon IT. Great sturdy build and can handle pretty much everything I throw at it. The Camera isn't as good as this Xperia Z2, the screen technically less clear and on paper the tech specs pale, but it's no slouch and I'll take sturdiness every day of the week.

Had this phone for almost 2 years and it's brilliant. The battery can last almost 4 days and the screen is just the right size. Just be carefulvwith the glass back as I cracked mine the first time I dropped it..

If your battery can last 4 days you don't need a smartphone !

Just ordered mine, collect in store tomorrow.
Was going to buy the LG G3 when that came down to the same price at Argos 6 weeks or so ago.
Was persuaded to wait though in case this or Moto X Play was reduced on Black Friday.
Moto was but missed it ~ glad I did now!!!

I've had a Z1 with no case for 2 years, I treat it like ****, drop it pretty much every week and it hasn't missed a beat. No cracks, just dings.

I've owned a Z2 for 2 years and recently upgraded to Z5 Premium. I'm a careful user but the Z2 had its fair share of drops and bangs etc. Never once cracked. My friend and his brother both own the Z3 and they are reckless with theirs and they have no screen protector or cases - no cracks at all. So experiences being what they are - I can easily say I disagree with your post. Sony Xperia range of phones have my vote all day and this deal is excellent.

I've just gone the other way after my Moto G 3rd Gen screen cracked after accidentally dropping it. Hopefully will be a bit more careful with my Xperia Z2.

Hi, I'm looking for an upgrade from a galaxy S3. This seems to be ideal. Anyone had both and can advise?

This is definately an upgrade from the S3.
Although theres alot of phones you can choose from atm.
I've not had both but an s2, one thing I
advised my customers is that if you have had phones with removable batteries it may be best for them yo go with another
phone with the same , this was a deal breaker for some of my customers as they were heavy users!, alot of phone for
the money, hope this helps .
heat added op!!

I'm in the same position. The s3 is still better than most of today's midrange phones so I'm waiting for a good deal on a better spec phone.
