Hazy_14 you don't need to side load Kodi there is an official version in the play store you can download to the TV. Although you are better with v16 beta 2 as it plays 4K x265 smoothly on the Sony CPU whereas v15.2 is jumpy with 4K stuff... And yes you can side load the easiest way is to put the APK in Dropbox and use ESfile explorer to open it from there
Price wise if you have a Costco card it's £743 there inc VAT with 5 years warranty.
Has some niggles, the major one for me is when you load the latest update to enable youview it disables all the satellite inputs. And the OS is still not 100 per cent stable, rebooting it at least every couple of days
Still on fence if it's going back, but it has some very good points. Hence indecisive
Would recommend getting from somewhere with a good return policy in case it annoys you with its problems

Only 200hz so better going for the 800hz model

You are looking at spending a minimum of £200 more to get a similar Sony at 55" with higher hz, X85 range

What difference would that make? What is it that runs 4x faster on the 800Hz model?

can you side load Kodi onto it?

Don't need to side load it - it available on the playstore on the TV itself.
I've got the 1080 version of this TV - running a NAS drive in the cupboard and with Kodi on the TV is fantastic!

You summary of the TV is spot on, and Sony Android TV's in general. Hardware excellent, but Android software needs attention. I use a Humax box so have little to do with the TV software, so generally its stable. Have had trouble putting into standby as it kept restarting (OS crashed). I have until Jan 31st to return. I am leaning towards keeping and hoping Sony and Google sort the software. Its a gamble as they may abandon 2015 TV's and improve only 2016 ones....

The satellite inputs are not meant for the UK market (although they did work) and there's a new firmware due supposedly in the next few weeks to activate the USB recording, this may iron out some other issues.

Has there been any android updates since the youview. I had the x8509 55" since the update but sent it back. Still haven't decided as the Samsung seem to have problems with screen bleed - put me off. I was wondering if they will address os problems on 2016 models.

I'll check when i get home (It's not available on the playstore, so you'd have to sideload it via the ES File Explorer trick.
