This may be of interest to Plusnet customers who are out of contract and wish to stay with them but negotiate a better fibre deal...
Spoke to Plusnet earlier today to discuss cost of our line rental /calls/fibre deal. Existing customers offers weren't great and required signing 18-24 month new contract. 24 months was too long for me...
However the agent was helpful and said they would match anyone elses offers - but not including cashbacks.
I have used Plusnet for a couple of years and wanted to stay so I had a quick look around and Talktalk were offering 76mbs download (80/20) fibre for £10 per month on an 18 month contract. The 38Mbs (40/10) fibre was £5 a month. Line rental was extra at £17.70 per month.... but half price at £8.85 for the 1st 12 months.
Went back to Plusnet retentions dept and they would match the fibre prices but not reduce line rental. So what I was told wasn't strictly true but still a reasonable saving for the fibre element.
So signing a new contract we could have 76Mbs fibre for £10 a month (normally £19.99) for a full 18 months new contract. Alternatively 38mbs fibre was available for £5 a month (normally £14.99) for the 18 months. Basically matching the Talktalk price...
I have put the link to the Talktalk broadband availability check which should give you prices to compare.
Just phone Plusnet retentions department on 0800 432 0200 Option 3 ...and follow the prompts.
The Talktalk price is lower over the Black Friday weekend but still seems to be cheaper than Plusnet so this still should useful ongoing. Talktalk 76Mbs fibre is listed as normally £15 a month reduced to £10 at the moment. Plusnet is £19.99 for the equivalent .
Hope it helps someone....
Remember link is to get Talktalk price to quote to Plusnet......
If you can find a better price with other suppliers just try Plusnet with yours instead...

Be careful though if upload speed is important to you, PN only do 38/2 not 38/10

I've been on plusnet 76mb unlimited for 9.99 a month for some time now. I assumed it was a common retention offer

Very good deal = heat.
Thought I'd got myself a good deal at £12.50 a month when I got them to price match that SSE deal a few months back.

SSE had £120 cashback (£100 now) so works £60 better over the 2 years, also line rental is £12 only with SSE

I pay plusnet £8 for 38mbs fibre unlimited 24 month deal and plus net tv 20 chanels plus kids in sd for a further £8. They gave me a free youview recorder no connection fee. Pay line rental yearly. I listed this and it went cold as a rentention deal but I think its good and at least they dont share your personal details with criminal as yet

I managed to get a good discount, paid line rental up front, which omly saved a pound a month, so £12 but they then knocked £10 a month off, I then said im still going to cancel, then they offered me £50 cash back, that was just over a month ago, and last week the cheque arrived, I would advice anyone to go right through and say your cancelling, that's when they offer you the best deals..be polite, and give them the sob story, things are tight, or you just lost your job..

Same here i just phoned them up they told me they can't do anything as iam still in contract with them and move over to talk talk and let them take over the line instead of cancelling. You would have to pay 50% of your contract ends so in your case as well as mine it's roughly around 50 to 60 to leave them. I think still it's a very good deal to leave. I would give them a call and speak to them and see what they tell you. Don't forget quidco is around 90 also
