The point is to keep costs down.
MS allowed Windows 8.1 (with bing) for free for devices with screens smaller than 10inches.
remove the screen and the manufacturer would have to pay for the Windows 8.1 license.
basically this device is cheaper with the screen than without

I can only imagine the form factor was chosen partially to ensure a degree of air flow on the underside of the device, as reports are the device gets very warm quickly when using Windows.

I have just ordered this for myself, after reading a lot of reviews online, most agree it is a bargain for what you get.
In the last two weeks I have ordered two Doogee phones from Gearbest, one for the Wife and the X5 for me. The service was great, both delivered in 5 days from order and from their EU warehouse, I always pay the $2 insurance, and was delivered by Yodel, no problems.

Watch all the free films, TV shows, live sport, shows from Amazon prime and Netflix etc, you name it, it is probably on there for free, via Kodi and the such like.

That is the WRONG option, it will not come from a EU warehouse, and you may get Custom charges?
Just click the EU button on the opening page, you get the US version with a UK adaptor, which works fine for $89.:stuck_out_tongue:
