Paid over £80 for service alone so, seems like a good deal. My boiler is under 5 years warranty plan anyways but it will be cheaper to service it through this contract. Worth considering.

Try swinton home Emergency. £9 something per month.
Covers boiler, electric, Pluming, roof and locks.
No excess to pay.

Beware, this has to be one of the most incompetent companies in the UK. Not just my own experience of a year of being doubled billed but numerous others, just google it.

Had boiler breakdown 8 days before end of 1yr contract Engineer was booked to come 2 days later. Got a phone call to ask if I was staying into year 2. I said no...... first the engineer rung to say he can't make it and to make a new appointment. Kept getting cancelled appointments from them till the 1st day out of contract.
Never will use them again.

I hear you however, not sure if anybody is much better. It's always a hit and miss depending on who you speak with in any of the energy company. At least that's my experience

Agree, wouldn't touch with a barge pole! Used to have a 12 months plan, 12 engineer visits...issue was still not fixed. Dont waste your time with this.

I spoke to somebody in npower sales team-she said it is currently half price. Have not verified it myself. So, I assume it will be full price after one year but I will discontinue it if it costs me more than this after one year

The man came in, opened up the boiler, played with it for 20 minutes and put it back together to give me a bill of £83. I needed it to continue my maintenance cover with the installer. Boiler is only 2 years old and under 5 years maintenance plan provided I get annual servicing done.

The do a tightness test to confirm there is no gas leak, they use the CPA on the flue to check the levels and have a look. I know a service engineer for one of the big players and engineers are required to do 14 services in a day before they hit their bonus. Figure how long it takes to do one.

Not sure what can be done in a service to be honest. Had my combi in 12 years and not had it serviced once.

Used to have this cover myself, underwritten by Walmsleys. It was a shrewd investment in my part as I've had no end of combi problems which they assisted with and for the most part, fully covered. They only cover boilers up to 10 years old and insist upon an annual service for cover to remain active.
I now pay for a 'Home emergency' premium add on with my Home Insurance.

That's horrendous! If I were you- I will send them a bill for repair with the details of the contact made within the contract and cancellation of appointment. Add the value of your time too and VAT. They should be legally bound to pay if you contacted them when within the contract. CAB can advise more.
