This is 2nd gen, but still worth if you are only after heating controls.

Good deal. I paid £179 from Amazon for this about 7 months ago. The thermostat can be controlled from your phone or the nest website which makes it really easy to set up a schedule. It also has an auto-away function which detects if you home or not and adjusts accordingly. There is a 3rd gen version out now so presumably that's why the price has come down... The 3rd Gen can control heating of your water too as well as some minor aesthetic differences. Teamed up with the nest protects (the smoke and CO2 alarms/sensors) these are great products which work well together.

Anyone know if this works in houses with two thermostats up and down stairs?

It would replace both those thermostats.

Not sure why you have two thermostats? I assume you have a valve or separate pipe work for your upstairs and downstairs rads?

You would need two separate nest devices to replace two thermostats.

I just spoke to Nest on the phone earlier and they said that 1 thermostat can only work with one heat link connected to the boiler, so if you wanted 1 stat upstairs to take precedence over temperature regulation at night and another downstairs for the day, this isn't possible. You'd have to buy the stand and take it with you

Works fine but you will need to buy two.
