Buying a 4k TV today is falling into the megapixel trap - without other improvements not yet rolled out such as higher frame rate, greater dynamic range or larger range of colours they're largely pointless.

I couldn't tell you if this model has an IPS panel or not. The answer is in the product code which is written on the back of the tv and on the box. Here is an example.
My tv's product code is 50LB650v-ZN.BEKDLJG. The clue is the set of seven letters at the end BEK D LJG. The fourth letter on mine is a "D". This denotes it is made by AU Optronics who don't make IPS panels. To know if it's an LG or not you need to look for the following letters as the fourth letter.

CRT may be old hat though they still give better picture quality than most of the TVs I see when displaying the majority of what people watch (broadcast channels). The 'progression' to 4k tvs is even less sensical as the benefit of tv size(footprint) left with CRT! 1080 displays have more benefits (over 4k) for most of us, just not the bragging rights. I'm happy to rough it out with my 18 month old 50" plasma. :smiley:

BT Sports are already broadcasting in UHD so stop saying there's nothing to watch (not to mention Netflix, YouTube and home-made videos as 4k/UHD camera's are aplenty). UHD Blu-rays coming out next year as well.

excellent tv, I purchased back in about September when it was briefly on offer at this price. and yes, there are 2 hdmi ports.

Its an IPS panel and its lg. buy Chromecast, has 2 hdmi..yes splitters can work or just get a hdmi amp, a cheap one will have 4 hdmi if not, then splitter yes.
Lg are responsible for most other tv panels so they are up there with the best. dont sit too close, at least 7 foot away possibly 6 for this price, its great

Don't believe LG when they say it has an IPS panel. My tv is still being advertised as having LG's "Unique IPS Panel. Although the tv is discontinued it is still on the LG UK website. It does NOT have an IPS panel. It has a VA panel made by AU Optronics according to the product code. The pixel panel also confirms that it is not an IPS. A mistake or deliberate mis-representation and when I pointed out to Currys they had mis-sold me a tv they didn't want to know.
