just fwiw, all alkaline batteries are essentially the same. Duracell is no better or worse than any other brand.
they all have the potential to leak
they all last about the same amount of time in most applications
for most applications you are better off with low self-discharge nimh batteries (around £1/cell)
From the best to the worst Alkaline batteries you can see a difference of up to 25% in mAh life, this is not to say that all branded cells are good and all cheap cells are bad, but you cannot assume that all cheap cells will be good batteries.
The brands mentioned are not in these tests, but as an example of the difference in cells, from zink to Lit, have a look here.

Amazon basics AA (not available at the mo in any large packs) are excellent batteries which are regularly about 27p a cell when bough in a 48 pack.
