Bose xt sound dock yellow/white Argos £64.95, usually £129.95- amazing price for a basic bose.

Really???... There are many manufactures that produce much better quality products than Bose, both in terms of sound and build quality. B&W or NAD for instance. I'm not knocking Bose as I love their SoundTouch systems (I use mine all the time) but my NAD Viso out performs similar priced products by Bose by a long way. Their old dock also looked like it used the cheapest plastic possible and I owned a £50 JBL dock which sounded twice as good.
I suggest you listen to Bose systems first as I don't think you can say it's great just because it has Bose written on it.

I'm looking for Android compatible version as well. Any suggestions? Do the manufacturers of these devices assume only 6 people in the UK own anything other than an IPhone???

A real pleasure to hear two people listening to each-others' opinions and respecting them. Notice the 'like' from the first poster to the second. Both posters deserve praise for their classy attitude. Nice to see on HUKD.

Samsung did produce a Galaxy-based speaker dock at one time and also Philips had an 'Android' one with micro USB.
When wireless charging becomes standard, combined with the likes of NFC, then that would be ideal - just lay it on top to charge and play.

If you do want a dock then I agree its a problem, though as much due to the makers of Android phones. Too many variants of size & shape etc...

I was only joking
I have wondered though, why don't manufacturers of these kind of items (even cars) make interchangeable "plates" specific to your phone model.
That way, you could buy a sound dock once and when a new phone comes out you could buy that plate for your model, that way, the company would still be making money from you for the upgraded plate.
If that makes any sense to anyone other than me??

Not so smug now? :stuck_out_tongue:

Does anyone know how this compares to the Bose Soundlink mini or Sony x3/x5's?

I can't vouch for the Sony but I can say that the XT has a more balanced sound than the soundlink mini but the soundlink mini has fuller bass.

Not the same though is it? It's like buying a top spec Tv and only watching VCR cassettes
