Perhaps it's because our boiler is on the blink but we had a sudden 3am epiphany to buy a new duvet cover, we only wanted a kingsize but can't say no to a superking at that price. No more fighting for the cover.
Les than Half price at £18.79 at the moment using code HWARES20 (thanks dazzer1975!)
They have superking duvet sets starting from £19.99 but they look a bit naff to be honest

If I'm buying a duvet, the first thing I ask myself is "hmmm, does this thing contain ethical feathers?"
I want to know if the ducks have been reared on the finest Cristal champagne and wild truffles infused with unicorn breath, I want my duvet to have waddled through puddles.... not muddy ones, but puddles filled with the tears of angels, above all, I would like a signed statement from the Dali Lama giving his blessing to me that I may sleep safe in the knowledge that my duvet has had an interesting and fulfilling life.
If I can't have that I would gladly freeze to death, rather than get a bargain from Argos :smirk:
I'll vote this hot anyway, just to keep the peace.

These aren't ducks with jobs and holidays and pictures of the kids in their wallets. These are ducks bread for purpose. Plucked for feathers and eaten for food.
Id rather keep a man in a job to provide fir his family than a duck happy. There are no ethics in survival.

I would only buy ethical duck pillows where the feathers are naturally shed and not plucked from the bird. You can get ethical pillows from John Lewis.

Yes I am a vegetarian but that doesn't make me self-righteous. Everyone is different, just as non-vegetarians are. Knowing that the feathers are plucked from the birds while they alive is cruel in my opinion. It's a valid point. I am not preaching. I am just expressing a view. It's not even an offensive view. Blimey, if you can't express an opinion, what can you do?

That makes no sense!?
If you are a meat eater then buying an ethical one would make more sense. You kill the duck collect the feathers and eat the duck.
If you buy the non ethical one where the feathers are pulled from the live bird and when its feather output falls below its food cost it is killed and put in cat food.
So as a vegan/vegetarian you would buy the non ethical one!

Not really but when you state " I would only buy ethical duck pillows" and how "cruel" you think the process is then that smacks of self-righteousness and sanctimony.

Bought one of these when they were on sale a few weeks back. They are VERY heavy, rustle a lot and have sharp bits which poke you through the cover. They are also too hot for all but the very coldest nights.

Which is why I get the thinner 4.5 tog goose down ones with 100% cotton cambric outer cover. They're not only lighter for the summer months but they go in a domestic washing machine very easily and dry a lot faster. I have three. Only need one for the summer and then just add another layer as the weather gets colder.
They're more comfortable than duck and infinitely more so than the dreaded hollowfibre. They actually drape around you as opposed to the hollowfibre ones which just lays over the top of you.
Heat for the price of this one though.

No I'm not a vegan. I am not preaching either. I was just pointing out something about how the feathers are obtained that anyone might not know about. Just giving product information that's all. If that's something that doesn't bother you, then fair enough. It's a site for posting offers after all.

Does it bother you that to get the feathers, they are plucked from the bird while it is still alive? And the wounds of the birds are stitched without anaesthetic? I am not on about birds being bred for meat and the feathers being a by product of that. I am talking about how they get the bird's feathers in China, which to many people is cruel. http://www.peta.org/features/down-investigation/
