If games with gold had been part of xbox live since day one i might agree with this "we pay for the games" angle, but the 360 was out for 5 years before you got a single game for it through live, so for me the free games are exactly that - an addition to the existing service.

This is still an add on service to the Gold and considering Gold is literally sub £20 for 12 months now and the amount of OS updates the Xbox One gets - it really is a good deal. The money they take for Gold is proactively used and Phil Spencer listens to the community.

I have none of these games so yes, very much heat for this blue moon event. Plus, I've been umming and arring over sourcing a copy of Dungeon Siege III so at the very least, that's a decision made for me.

So when latest update happens does that mean dirt 3 will work on xbox one? Read somewhere that 360 live free games will be available to play on xbox one or isn't this the case??

Yeah, they said a few months back that all future 360 games with gold from that point on would be BC when they roll out the update in November., so dirt 3 and the last few 360 games should be on the BC list come November.

If that's correct, I'm pleased with that, I've had all of September's and August's games, not got any of these.
