If games with gold had been part of xbox live since day one i might agree with this "we pay for the games" angle, but the 360 was out for 5 years before you got a single game for it through live, so for me the free games are exactly that - an addition to the existing service.

This is still an add on service to the Gold and considering Gold is literally sub £20 for 12 months now and the amount of OS updates the Xbox One gets - it really is a good deal. The money they take for Gold is proactively used and Phil Spencer listens to the community.

My boys have xbox 360 with gold membership. I have set parental controls set to age 12. I have heard that you can download the free games with gold for Xbox One...being prepared just in case Father Christmas happened to feel generous this year!

...does anyone know if that would show on their 360 account on their xbox or only if they plugged in a xbox one.....is there a way to download them so they don't know they have them till xmas day?

It's cool that we are getting DS, I've been on the edge of buying that a few times. My son will probably like Dirt 3

So to go online with dirt 3 you need to download the VIP pass which is £6.75. :disappointed:

Pneuma was a nice little easy 1000GS. Just waiting for back comparability now so I can play dirt 3, already half completed on 360 tho.

But the free games are an incentive to come to xbox and buy gold albeit for multiplayer it's supposed to be something nice for xbox owners and an enticement for non gold users as well as non xbox owners to buy into it.

Personally seeing xbox give some good games like Tomb Raider 2 or maybe 3 times a year then I'm happy as £20 ish for gold a year is not much even if the 'it is paid for' team feel we have a right for good games.

But it just would be nice if the cheapo games were fun for me as they're usually not... If people like those games then I guess it's just a horses for courses type of thing.

I think we go through this everytime... To (be) free or not to (be) free... that is the question!

I think best thing to do is leave the free or not free conversation and concentrate on if the games are good or not.

Sometimes you may get tomb raider like games and probably be an instant hit but sometimes it's okay to give a cheap game but it needs to be fun and something that will be played by many.

What I don't like is offerings that just waste everyone's time as they're just complete rubbish... What do the 'they are free' guys say about this?

Not heard of the games apart from Dirt 3 so will give that a go,. I was hoping better games would be released via GwG.

In defence of indie developers, games with gold its a great way of getting people aware of their games. Last month out was tomb raider because of the push surrounding rise of the tomb raider. But seriously, you can't expect them to put halo master chief collection on for November or ever for that matter just because halo 5 is coming out because it wouldn't make good business sense. Tomb raider was a remake of a 360 title so costs were nominal (plus it depreciated heavily) and it drummed up interest. Businesses are businesses I'm afraid

yes these are not free...do the maths... 1 year gold membership.£20.99 from CDkeys. 4 games a month for 12 month's thats 48 games.. so they cost £0.44* each..
*rounded up, if you ignore all other benefits of gold membership and don't use facebook discount to get membership.. + who owns an xbox one without paying gold...

Its unreal the amount of games ive amassed between gwg and ea access still got loads ive not had a chance to try and they just keep coming.

From November 12th Xbox One owners can download all 4 titles.

After the Windows 10 update it becomes backward compatible.

As one of the seemingly few people in this thread who has actually played Pneuma, it's short but actually quite a decent puzzle game. I can't speak for Knight Squad. Played DS3 when I had my 360 and thought that was pretty decent too, looking forward to it again thanks to Backwards Compatability.

Been very good recently, not as good this month. Still dungeon siege is decent on 360 so heat.

Apart from Dirt 3, its a terrible month.

Is everyone in the same boat as me? To see what the current Game with Gold is....I need to friking Google it then on the Xbox, search the title.

Few months back it was just there, as a tile on the main screen so easy to find.

Amazing that you quoted me since someone else started the convesation by mentioning free games instead of letting people complain about games they didn't enjoy. If people just let people have their opinion on games they don't like then we will have to have this conversation.

Games with Gold has improved quite significantly this year, especially with the likes of Rayman Legends, Child of Light, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Valiant Hearts: The Great War - all Ubisoft published games nonetheless! - as well as Tomb Raider last month.

However, this month is arguably the least impressive month all year, and this is the line-up they chose for new Xbox One owners that purchased the likes of Forza Motorsport 6 and Halo 5: Guardians in the past few weeks?

Personally I think certain deals like GwG and Psplus should get instant 100 degree status just so people can FIND the deal easily!!!!

It's still good in general.... sub £20 annual fee plus the fact that some 360 games will work on xb1 .... More AAA games than psplus equals a pretty good annual package for £18-19

Siege was terrible!!! Just check the reviews. Dirt 3 is a great game.

All this talk that games with gold are not free is rubbish. you pay a subscription for Xbox live gold that price is the same whether they offered the games or not, therefore these are free. If they were to cancel the gold subscription fee and still do games with gold would they then be free? Or would the fact that you needed to pay for the console and the electricity and the TV and the property to which he electricity is supplied etc etc mean that they are not free because you needed to spend money to get them?

Also, the price isnt coming down, merely other merchants who acquire it. Xbox still charges a ridiculous rate for it. If they actually reduced it, I dare say we'd finally break the £15 mark.

I stand by my statement though. You can get 10 keys for games nobody has heard of for PWYW on Steam - and this is quickly going that way. Id rather they said "No games this month guys" rather than offend me with nothing titles or **** ports.

Make it quarterly, then maintain that AAA/Tomb Raider standard.

for what its worth, I paid £18 for live, and £20 for EA Access and I have never felt I got more value out of a console. its not free but it is hot.

And yeah, this months games are meh, but the backwards compatibility is (another) excellent deal.

The service you're paying for is online gaming. The games are FREE! I'd understand what you're saying if they put the prices up to cover the games but online gaming with Xbox live seems to be getting cheaper every year

See Tomb Raider has kind of screwed MS over here as everyone now expects games like that. I have not heard of a couple of these but I will give them a go. I hadn't heard of Rogue Legacy before PS+ gave it away and having finally gotten round to completing it the first time yesterday it told me I played it for nearly 18hrs....way more than some AAA titles have kept me entertained.

I think I've got about 2 or 3 games that are decent since Games with Gold started. I'd rather have proper games that came out a year ago or so not little games that are coming out now.

Interesting review from the Metro back in March 2015 about Pneuma and comment was its an ok puzzle game that was a little overpriced at £16 at the time. Now free its still going to be an ok puzzle game that's probably prized how it should have been anyway.

Agree with other comments, very "meh feeling" about this months titles of GWG. May download Dirt but otherwise wont bother this month.

I was paying for xbox live before they were giving away free games so no, im not paying for these games. I'm paying so I am able to play online. I don't pay for things that I dont want, like some of these games.

Yikes, hope they're saving the good stuff for next month then. Poor on xbone. I sold my 360 ages ago but try to grab the games these days just in case and because of backwards compatibility. I'm on the preview programme with the new dash so fingers crossed for a bash on dirt then, not likely to play any of the xbone titles #firstworldproblems

Just finished Walking Dead season 1 from this months games with Gold. Really enjoyed it and was hoping for Season 2 in the November list :disappointed:

Nope, you're paying (up to) ~£3 per month for the online feature and this is meant to be a bonus (brought in to compete with PS+ and their free titles).

Ive never heard of these games, nor seen them in the store up until this point, so id say they are more junk fodder nonsense games.

I downloaded Tomb Raider - and I couldnt tell you the last game I downloaded before that.
