Good spot. The seattle one could be promising. I'm getting to find something for Canada, but could always had up the coast from there

From £140 return to Calgary, makes a nice twin centre trip (or I'd head to Alaska) - that would be a damn good price for Alaska....

The flights I was looking at were Dublin to Florida at £220 with flights to gatwick for transatlantic trip via air linges. Same airline from gatwick direct is £444. Could I book this but just not use the Dublin flights. I.e get on and depart from gatwick

Nope, most certainly not. You cannot get on at LGW, you have to board at Dublin, on the return journey, you MAY be able to get off at LGW (made easier if you only have hand luggage), but if you have hold luggage, you may have problems. Firstly, if your have a long stop, or can manually add in a stop over of say more than 8 hours (24 hours minimum better), you will get your luggage back and you could exit, but if you only have a few hours you won't get your luggage and you have a problem. On the Vegas post there was some useful information about exiting a flight and 'ditching' the last leg, but for these ones I wouldn't recommend it.

Just book Seattle, then use Skyscanner to find flights from Seattle to Alaska, from £65ish one way (to Anchorage), £85 one way ish to Juneau or £100 one way to Ketchikan. Fly into one Alaska airport and out of another, road trip.... Emerald Lake, Skagway, Chilkoot Trail . . .

Great deal and since you clear customs in Dublin on most flights best way to travel to the US

Huh? You said about £140 to Calgary. I've no interest in Alaska, I'm going over for a ski season.
On another note, anyone know any airlines that do fully refundable one way tickets? I've absolutely no idea when I'll be coming back but can't get out there without an outbound ticket
