Also easy for any Xbox One users out there! Just plug into a USB port and add as extra storage, install your games, then if you go round a friends house, take only the harddrive, plug it into their Xbox One, log into your account and your games are ready to play! Unless your already gamesharing with that person who will have access anyway! I love the way Microsoft have added these sorts of features in a back peddling way to try and catch up with Sony sales. I wanted a PS4, my son wanted an Xbox One, Grrrr, had to get the Xbox.

Pretty sure you can't store and play PS4 games on an external drive, so are you suggesting people crack this open to get at the drive inside ?

No cracking involved. Slide smaller panel open, remove one screw and slide old drive out. Reverse to install the new one. Installing the OS takes more effort and time.....

Yes, but the drive on offer is an *external* (portable) drive so not suitable for replacing the drive in a PS4 !

it won't be the one in the picture which is easy to open but... When you look at it at first it seems like a sealed unit but if you look about 2-3mm down from the patterned top you will see a faint line/join. i had to score round this with a Stanley blade a few times then i noticed on certain edges it starting to part just enough to get some small screwdrivers in. its then a case of gently twisting the screwdriver to gently prize it open all around the edge. looks like they don't really want people to get into it, unlike the one in the picture that takes about 2 seconds to open. Best of all PS4 now has 1.77TB :-) for under £60

As richkaos said in great detail the idea is you buy the external drive because it works out cheaper than buy the drive as a component on it's own, then take it out of it's enclosure.
EDIT: Ah I realize now your earlier comment was about cracking the external enclosure open and not the PS4 which I thought you meant.
Apologies, you are right you would have to crack open the external enclosure to get the drive, sorry.
