Was looking for USB plug sockets and came across theses on Screwfix
Were £14.99, now £12.00 and 2 for £18 (2 for 18 until 10th Jan 2016)
The 2 for 18 make them cheaper than most other online sources
No back box so mostly for retro fitting or you need to buy them separately
Cashback: Quidco 3%. TCB 3.14%

For me these things aren't great, its only 2 amps total across both usb ports , if both are being used its 1 amp per port and my phone takes ages to charge, much quicker just plugging the charger in an saving £12 quid

Every time someone posts these deals, there always is a debate whether this is safe or not.

Of course they're safe. They have the CE kitemark.

To answer the question asked whenever these come up: yes, they do use power (albeit not a lot) all the time. There are also some concerns about the potential for overheating/fire.
Why not just use a (cheaper) plug-in charger which you can turn off?

I can't see why they can't design these only to come on then the switch is on or something, or when the usb is inserted, there are so many appliances now that just draw a vampire current, even if only 1 watt it adds up, 24hours a day etc.
