I went into my newly refurbed local Pure Gym today (Sheffield North) and noticed the price being advertised there was £9.99 a month with no joining fee. I've been a member of that gym since it opened nearly 3 years ago now, and I had joined on £10.99 p/m opening offer which increased to £14.99 after a year - the price I've been paying ever since.
So I called up their Customer Services to moan about why I should be paying £14.99 when anyone joining now is paying £9.99 p/m and what is stopping me cancelling and joining again at the cheaper rate.
Straight away without argument my membership was reduced to £9.99 and I was told my higher price was due to 'being able to use other PureGyms' - something which I found a bit strange because I know they charge higher than £14.99 for that as when I originally joined I'd made sure I didnt pay any extra than what I needed to.
So basically, the deal here is : existing members check your membership against the current price on the website for your club - If it is lower than what youre paying now, call them up on 0344 477 0005 and they will instantly reduce it for you too.
New members: its 'no joining fee' at the moment too, not sure when this ends, but worth joining if you make use of it 2/3 days per week. MUCH cheaper than 'posh' clubs like Virgin and just as good IMHO.

To be fair I think the free wifi would be more useful to those with music streaming services like spotify, tidal, Apple music, etc

no free wifi at mine, but who cares. You go in to a gym to get some sweat on, not to browse the net!
Theres a massive tesco next to it though which is where the parking is, so very convenient location as I can do the shopping straight after!

I agree, Pure Gym is much better value for money, not to mention 24 hour opening means you can go for a session before work, plus free wifi at my local and very decent equipment and an app to book/cancel classes.

Yeah, but club dependent.
If youre an existing member, check what you pay currently against what the club charges new members by selecting it on their web site. Call them up on the number I gave and they will reduce to whatever your local club charges.
