I went into my newly refurbed local Pure Gym today (Sheffield North) and noticed the price being advertised there was £9.99 a month with no joining fee. I've been a member of that gym since it opened nearly 3 years ago now, and I had joined on £10.99 p/m opening offer which increased to £14.99 after a year - the price I've been paying ever since.
So I called up their Customer Services to moan about why I should be paying £14.99 when anyone joining now is paying £9.99 p/m and what is stopping me cancelling and joining again at the cheaper rate.
Straight away without argument my membership was reduced to £9.99 and I was told my higher price was due to 'being able to use other PureGyms' - something which I found a bit strange because I know they charge higher than £14.99 for that as when I originally joined I'd made sure I didnt pay any extra than what I needed to.
So basically, the deal here is : existing members check your membership against the current price on the website for your club - If it is lower than what youre paying now, call them up on 0344 477 0005 and they will instantly reduce it for you too.
New members: its 'no joining fee' at the moment too, not sure when this ends, but worth joining if you make use of it 2/3 days per week. MUCH cheaper than 'posh' clubs like Virgin and just as good IMHO.

To be fair I think the free wifi would be more useful to those with music streaming services like spotify, tidal, Apple music, etc

no free wifi at mine, but who cares. You go in to a gym to get some sweat on, not to browse the net!
Theres a massive tesco next to it though which is where the parking is, so very convenient location as I can do the shopping straight after!

I agree, Pure Gym is much better value for money, not to mention 24 hour opening means you can go for a session before work, plus free wifi at my local and very decent equipment and an app to book/cancel classes.

Yeah, but club dependent.
If youre an existing member, check what you pay currently against what the club charges new members by selecting it on their web site. Call them up on the number I gave and they will reduce to whatever your local club charges.

Yes, I use the wifi to stream Spotify, so no longer have download music plus great for Nowtv app for my favorite tv series and catchup tv when on the cross-trainer, running machine and bike.

Theres a new one opening near Canary wharf I think in place of l.a fitness and their fb page says £29.99 limited time lol
Anyone pay lower in London for all pure gym locations, if I can get it for £25 or less I'd buy it and use at local.

Yes I heard its rubbish too, but the lesuire centre I go to is £34.99 and they have alot of equipment but there's no paper towles and when treadmills and showers need preparing it takes months. Can't be worse than that.

Not **** at all. Good equipment on Manchester anyway. Just no extra faffs like sauna or swimming pool.
shaggy to sidog
28 Oct 15#28
Yep nothing fancy like sauna or swimming pool but for £9.99 a month who's complaining. I use mine at least 3 times a week with the remaining days allocated for road running. Much better value than Virgin where I used to pay over £50 a month lol
Equipment is perfectly fine and clean too. Most of the times the gym is not too busy and you'll always get to go on whatever you want. Very clean and well looked after.
Pity no wifi at mine I could do with the music streaming lol

It's a pity it's not £9.99pm for all the gyms. I think it's only the less popular/less established ones that are £9.99pm. The one nearest to my work is actually £24.99pm and the one nearest my house is £19.99pm. Good deal in general though for those who can get it.

Apples and Oranges! The DW near me is £20 joining fee and £42 a month with a 12 month contract, and all it has extra to the Pure Gym is a pool!

Been paying £18.99 since joining Milton Keynes, still same price today. I think it's still worth it - well equipped, clean, and when it does get a bit busy between Monday and Wednesday it's car parking that's the grief, not the availability of the kit.

hey shaggy, love Sheffield north pure gym, just wish I could go to it a little more often, agree the big Tesco is a bonus ,I probably spend more time there than in gym itself lol, also maybe worth mentioning this pure gym on spital hill has a ladies only area too which is where I go to, tho limited equipment in ladies area but depends on times you go. I also joined when it was no joining fee for £9.99 per month , also can freeze membership for 3 months at a price for £5.99 per month.hope this helps.

I am looking at joining a gym at the moment and am considering Puregym, due to the price. It is £19.99 a month in Aberdeen city centre, but parking is at a premium there.
Today I viewed a gym on the outskirts of the city and was quoted £49 off peak and £75 for full membership.:disappointed: oh and a joining fee as well.
