That Mi line of products is pretty crazy. You might think this is the latest in a long line of jaw-droppingly inexpensive devices, and you’d be wrong. It’s at least the second-latest.
Like its forerunner the Mi Band, the 1S is compatible with both Android and iOS. It tracks heart rate, counts calories and steps, monitors your sleep, and will survive for up to half an hour under a meter of water if you try to drown it. All at a fraction the price of its similar competitors.

What advantages does it offer over the older model ?
Very tempted by this, been monitoring Xiaomi for a while waiting for the 1s but this is the first i've heard about the release.

They updated the first Mi Band so that it was compatible with Google Fit so hopefully this will mean the same for the new 1S. It means you aren't limited to Xiaomi's Mi Fit app.

They're US$15 RRP in China, so GearBest selling them for $21 is not bad, considering it includes shipping.
I don't think they'll go much cheaper than maybe $18-19 after it launches (shipped to the UK) so might as well buy one in the presale!
