If your of a 'certain age' this is what Bike lights look like.....:stuck_out_tongue:
We survived and they were a damn sight worse than even these 99p LED lights...

You can pick up lights this cheap, yet there's still loads of idiots who don't bother with lights.

Erm, lights like these get people hurt. They think "oh, I've got lights. Should be fine. Motorists ought to see me." And they complain when they get hit.
Lights are a safety element of a bicycle. You shouldn't skimp on safety elements.

Yes, you are right - if you are serious about cycling, or even commuting, by all means get quality lights.
However, even these are better than nothing, and certainly ok as a backup. You can never have enough lights and reflectors.
The real problem is cyclists with no lights or reflectors in black clothes why still think that they have right of way and therefore everybody should magically see them.

Honestly. Do you think that there is a better chance of you being safer in the roads, at night, in the dark, with no lights?

worth a punt but only if you check your lights before using them. I see so many cyclists who have really dim lights where the batteries need charging or in some cases the lights need chucking. I cycle to work 1 day a week at the moment, always test my light visibility before I set off.

I remember those lights from when I was a paper boy (50 years ago). The front one cost about 7/6 andthe rear one was about 11/3.I nearly knocked out a clown on a bike last week.It was dark ,cold and raining the oaf had a black bike and dark clothes luckily he was stupid enough to be wearing shorts and I saw his legs.
