Was about to buy the normal hobgoblin mini keg as a present for someone when I saw the gold version reduced from £15 to £8. Works out at £1.60 a litre which is pretty cheap. Still showing as £15 online, found in Leyland. Still a few on shelf

Heat for the price, but it's really disappointing compared to standard hobgoblin.

Keg can be refilled with homebrew as well.. the empty kegs are usually £7 from the homebrew shops.

Due in part to myself, a lovely hoppy summer EPA!
Generally prefer my darker brews but have to admit was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Standard Hobgoblin off trade sales are down 20% this year, but introducing Gold has raised the brand by 30% overall, so I guess not everyone agrees ;-)

Two completely different beers. It's like comparing diet coke to dr pepper, ultimately pointless.
It's a decent summery light ale.

That's just personal taste and choice.I love it,it has a good old fashioned beer taste and at 4.5% just right for a bitter.
There are no bad beers, just some are better than others

I like hobgoblin gold just as much as hobgoblin. Depends on my mood. Variety is the spice of life..... Unless you're you. Obviously...

Agreed. This used to be around 5.3% ABV. Now I think 4.8% which has totally altered the taste. Now not worth buying. HEAT added for price tho.
Durrrrr! I meant real Goblin not this one. Exit right embarrassed.

How exact please?
Ive had loads of bath ales kegs and I'm sure these are the same. Can't remove the bung at the top without bending the lid

Don't know why, it's quite nasty compared to something like Golden Hen. Has a pretty bottle though! *shrugs*

What's the "use by" on these? Seem to think they have a shorter shelf life and wondering about getting a few for Christmas
