oooooo... i was waiting for a black friday deal on the amazon tv... now this might change a bit of thought..... and need to read more to confirm whether it works with ethernet via micro usb

It doesn't, like all Nexus devices now there is no external memory support. Whether this changes now marshmallow supports unified memory we'll have to wait and see but I'm not holding my breath...

Not convinced by this device, lack of specific Android TV apps....can this play standard Android games unlike Shield TV?

No, the same issues apply - if the game is based using touch its no good on this even if sideloaded onto it. The game has to have controller support.
