Couldn't decide if this should be in computers or phones but I think computers is more appropriate.
If you pre-order a Lumia 950 XL then you can get the Display Dock for free. The Dock essentially transforms the phone for external monitor, keyboard and mouse use. Like a mini PC. Probably not for everyone but some of you may be interested.
WP10 in 'desktop mode' does not run any Windows legacy desktop applications. This is because WP10 is a subset of W10 and it runs on ARM chips not Intel x86.

Define 'crippled' community version please? My understanding is that this is the full version, just USER limited, not feature...
And low potential returns on app development? Already over 110 million users of windows 10, it's been out for what, 3 months? 4? Not even had one Christmas yet, and there's still phones and Xbox to go yet...
I'd say that's a pretty big pool of potential right there...

wasn't sure whether to go for the xl but (aside from the bigger screen), the slighter better processor and now this then yeah, it'd be my choice

This will probably be my next phone. Not going to jump in on the preorder if this offer is available through January though. I shall wait for some reviews and for it to be discounted [or decent topcashback] - it is a Microsoft product after all........

First half of December for UK folk from what I'm hearing. Most phones are powerful enough for general use as PCs nowadays and combined with a Windows platform you've got yourself a solid office machine, will take a few years but this may just be that prize horse that wins Microsoft a bigger slice of the phone market. Definitely will be a lot of interest from enterprise and business users, see if home market wants it though.
Good enough for any streaming as well, I've already been using my Samsung TV as a monitor to read news from my Dell Venue Pro 11 on Windows 10.
