Not sure of the measurement, but it was quite large. If I was to guess I'd say it would probably hold around a litre.

Sounds hot, wife just broke our Bodum cafetiere this evening, so I'll send her off to Asda in the week!

it'll be their 8 dinky cup one, or rather 3 or so normal 'mugs' of coffee for us commoners
I think you can achieve the same results with a normal cafetière if you use coffee which is reasonably fine ground (the stuff that says suitable for all coffee makers) & don't stir before you plunge. Just be careful to press the plunger very slowly or you'll have coffee everywhere.
