Used to use Travelodge a lot - to the exclusion of most other chains. Had to give up, though, when they ran out of money and gave up bothering to maintain their existing 'hotels' (hotel was never the right word for Travelodge, was it?).
Such a shame. Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express are much safer options now. And why, for the love of God, is the Travelodge website so slow all the time, whatever time of day you use it?

cold. couldnt pay me to stay in a Travelodge again. went there and the bed was full of pubes, they moved us to another room that clearly hadnt been cleaned and then another which had kebab packets everywhere. when we said we weren't staying there they refused to give us our money back!

Looking at this in 2 different ways? as a deal £35 for a hotel in the centre of London whether at the Travelodge or any other accommodation you will not get a hotel in the centre of London for £35 for that it is an excellent deal
However on a personal level I've been staying in lots of hotels recently due to suffering a house fire and I can honestly say premier inn is far superior to Travelodge and if you could get a deal on a slightly cheaper premier in accommodation I'm sure you would much prefer the stay also if you're not happy with the stay you get the chance to get your money back but purely as a deal £35 in town cannot be beaten

I actually had a cockroach in my room at this place! I've travelled a lot worldwide and encountered them only twice - once on my budget first holiday abroad to Fuerteventura that gave me the fear of them as the place was infested and in this Travelodge! Great if you don't mind sharing your room *shudder*
Although is like to add, there are some great Travelodges around. The Manchester Piccadilly one is pretty good especially for a night out and the Chester one is lovely and right opposite the Roman Amphitheatre in a prime location. For a cheap London hotel you can't complain I guess but I have stayed in others for a similar price near Victoria, such as Best Western for under £50 if you manage to catch special offers on.

I am a Lenny Henry follower, so only Premier Inn is good enough for me.
