Used to use Travelodge a lot - to the exclusion of most other chains. Had to give up, though, when they ran out of money and gave up bothering to maintain their existing 'hotels' (hotel was never the right word for Travelodge, was it?).
Such a shame. Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express are much safer options now. And why, for the love of God, is the Travelodge website so slow all the time, whatever time of day you use it?

cold. couldnt pay me to stay in a Travelodge again. went there and the bed was full of pubes, they moved us to another room that clearly hadnt been cleaned and then another which had kebab packets everywhere. when we said we weren't staying there they refused to give us our money back!

Although my experience was horrible at travelodge, and that was at the King's Cross branch, I will still say thank you to the OP. It's nice if you to post this, I've not posted any deals so I certainly don't mean to be an A hole for knocking a deal you put up, so heat from me
I find my stays there have been excellent, also Kings Cross a few years back, could not fault. It is strange the way people blame their standards but never question their own ! why some people leave a hotel room in a mess is beyond me, trashing and breaking fittings, are their own homes in this state.

I have worked in a Travelodge and currently work in a Premier Inn, both as a Housekeeper and I agree with this; The state guests leave the rooms in sometimes makes me wonder if they are indeed humans, or animals on a farm...

What an exaggeration. You're not sleeping rough on a mattress in a subway, you'll get a basic standard of hygiene and cleanliness at any travel lodge.

agreed - sorry I was referring to the value. but with any room for any price, hygiene has to be the number one priority and I expect it to be clean. if it isn't then even if it's free, it's not worth it.

You get what you pay for. For those moaning about a £35 room in Central London, it is what you get!!! So this is a HOT deal.

True.........but if you do happen to take a bedbug or two home with you it's going to cost you maybe 50 times that to fumigate the house and get rid of them. Not at all nice.
Little tip. On arrival, place bags, suitcases etc in the bath. Pull back duvet etc and check for any sign of insects, or blood, on the sheets. If all seems clear, bring the cases into the room.

OK it's a basic hotel room but you'll struggle to find a room in central London for less than £100, so £35 is a bargain. What more do you want - it's a room with a bed and shower not a honeymoon suite.

DO NOT REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
We ended up with a full refund from the cold room.
The early book in that wasnt ready 5 hours later.
The breakfast struggle for a table.
The rubbish strewn along the hallway in the morning we left.
Empty soap dispenser and toilet so filthy it looks like a jobby is hanging on to the bottom of the pan.
Sorry but voted cold, to mimic my room temp and non working thermostat.

Stayed for a night a few days ago at Kings cross, pleasantly surprised by the standards of the room. It must have been recently refurbished as the bathroom was like new and the room was spot clean. I would advise a room on the 6th floor, it is quite noisy especially with 2 kebab shops outside and when i checked the room my friends were given, they weren't of such high quality but still okay. Breakfast was basic but no complaints, Overall a decent experience and would stay again

Thanks for sharing, I've just used the code to book a hotel stay in Swindon. 2 adults and 2 kids with breakfast for all of us for £42.25. Worked fine on mobile, (needs to be capitals). Have some heat

I've had mixed experiences with TL'a. I've found the London ones to be patchy because of the high turnaround. They have updated and upgraded them though, as a budget hotel you do get what you pay for ( or not as the case maybe) . Recently I have found them to be clean and functional, but those were for out of London ( and therefore quieter stays)

The Birmingham bullring travelodge I stayed in last week was a surprise. Huge room, clean, recently upgraded, bed was good, bathroom was fine but had a stupidly designed shower dial which meant putting on scolding hot water was easy. TV was way too small for the room, also cupboards so everything on show. Not cheap at 78.00 but was fine. Only issue was it wasn't in the nicest part of the town with yuffs in the car park trashing cars

Stayed in Cricklewood Travelodge for London Film Festival week and couldn't fault it.
It all depends on your standards, but they couldn't do enough for me - clean sheets and towels everyday (despite me returning them - I felt guilty for using new ones daily) Functional and at the end of the day, it's just somewhere to rest your brain and have a shower.
15 mins to get to Euston. zone 2.
Rooms all refurbished with new style beds.
Would recommend. (Seems to be cheaper than the other lodges)

Reading this thread sitting in a Holiday Inn Express in Preston. First time I've stayed in one. Was very anxious as cheap as chips. But very impressed. Bright modern hotel that allows dogs.... Breakfast not fantastic. But not terrible either.

Travelodge have massively improved, most hotels are almost full 7 days a week, I suggest you to give it a try. £35 for a London hotel is Hot. despite all the negativity here the post is getting hotter

The bed bugs used to be concentrated in one or more of the Kings Cross 'hotels' - not uncommon in older buildings. Has anyone found them elsewhere, and recently? You'd hope that by now they've got on top of the problem - unless it's the usual issue with lack of investment.

The last time I stayed in travelodge my need had no bed sheets, I waited the whole night and got none. Finally when I slept for 10 minutes I was bitten by bed bugs all night, I was scratching. A joke for a hotel!

We stayed in one of their newly refreshed room in Southampton. It was ok, but it was tiny and the new (but bland) bathroom already was a bit grubby around the edges. They are trying to be a Premier Inn but failing badly.

Ive stayed in this Travelodge and yes its near kings cross and yes its cheap but 1) you hear the underground all night and 2) it is a little unsavoury place after dark. Me and my sister stayed there in December a few years ago and left at 5.30 to get the tube to the west end and there were a group of youths who were all arguing, we ended up walking the long way round to the station and got a taxi back straight to the door. Just to be aware.

I actually had a cockroach in my room at this place! I've travelled a lot worldwide and encountered them only twice - once on my budget first holiday abroad to Fuerteventura that gave me the fear of them as the place was infested and in this Travelodge! Great if you don't mind sharing your room *shudder*
Although is like to add, there are some great Travelodges around. The Manchester Piccadilly one is pretty good especially for a night out and the Chester one is lovely and right opposite the Roman Amphitheatre in a prime location. For a cheap London hotel you can't complain I guess but I have stayed in others for a similar price near Victoria, such as Best Western for under £50 if you manage to catch special offers on.

Looking at this in 2 different ways? as a deal £35 for a hotel in the centre of London whether at the Travelodge or any other accommodation you will not get a hotel in the centre of London for £35 for that it is an excellent deal
However on a personal level I've been staying in lots of hotels recently due to suffering a house fire and I can honestly say premier inn is far superior to Travelodge and if you could get a deal on a slightly cheaper premier in accommodation I'm sure you would much prefer the stay also if you're not happy with the stay you get the chance to get your money back but purely as a deal £35 in town cannot be beaten

To be fair, though, they once upgraded me to a different 'hotel' after I'd pointed out the bed bug problem at the one I'd originally booked.
