To those perfect examples of human beings, get out your ivory tower. Trying to plug a sub cable into a tower on the floor, behind a desk that requires a contortionist to reach. These are a great idea. Same goes for pluging in a phone in the dark after a day of dealing with the kids.

I suspect durability over time (the centre plate where all the pins are is very thin, especially on the micro end) and probably because it's vastly cheaper to make them the normal way so manufacturers who include free cables in the box do it with the cheap standard ones only.

That ad shows it being plugged into a 2.4 amp power supply, this lead is only rated up to 2.1 amp, so doing so with that power supply is risking a short / fire.
