This is a heads-up for Office 2016 available under home use program (very similar to the Office 2013 deal posted a few days ago). If your employer is participating in this, you should be able to purchase Microsoft Office 2016 for £9.95. The purchased software can be installed on 1 home computer (Mac/PC).
You can go to the deal URL and provide your work email to check whether you are eligible. Even if you do not know your "Program Code," you can still proceed.
4. When will Volume Licensing customers be able to get Office 2016?
Volume Licensing customers will be able to download Office 2016 from the Volume Licensing Service Center beginning today, and Home Use Program (HUP) customers can install Office 2016 beginning on October 7, 2015. MSDN Subscriptions customers can download Office 2016 now.
Office for Mac 2016 v15.15 is now available through AutoUpdate

But you do get decent pensions, free bus travel, winter fuel allowance etc which is far more than the next generation will get when they get there. You've also grown up in times where house prices were much much lower relative to salary giving you more disposable income than young people get these days. I obviously don't know anything about your personal circumstances but in general the retired generation today do pretty well for themselves, probably far better than any subsequent generations.

False complaint though. This wasn't available when you were working it's as simple as that. What will I bemoan when I'm retired because something wasn't available in the prime of my life? Answer = nothing, because I accept that lived when I lived. I wouldn't worry about it, just live and be grateful of your time. There will likely be things towards the end of my life and beyond my lifespan that I will never experience, because I was simply born at the wrong time. Except no one is born at the wrong time, take every day and live it. The present moment is all we ever have, and almost none of us live it. There will be unimaginable technology in the future, when I see sci-fi films even like Tomorrowland, I start to think of the future, and what I'll 'miss' from not being alive. The problem with dwelling on the future or the past, is that you don't live in the present and therefore you don't really live as full a life as you can. Basic mindfulness. People could wish they lived in your time where they could afford to buy a house, most can't now. You get my drift anyway
Summary: You have nothing to complain about.

Well, you should still be able to purchase 2016 on Oct 7th. (though I understand that the £9.95 that you just spent on 2013 is a bit . . . wasted)

Check with your College/University.
Where I'm studying students get free Office 365 Pro.
At the moment I'm still on 2013 with that 365 but I think they'll roll out 2016 sooner or later.

May have it, undergrads often don't though just post grad research and up since they are kind of staff. If your uni is on office 365 though it's probably free, all you need to do is log in to your email and go to your account software section.

I haven't installed the HUP 2013 version yet :disappointed:. Probably give this version a miss for a while since we are still on 2010 at work and I get easily confused

One has definitely happened and wasn't that great, one hasn't happened yet and is up to each individual to make it great, although fate will ultimately decide.
