Really great tyres for commuting - only had one puncture and that was a quite hefty shard of glass so I let them off.
Just make sure they have plenty of air in them to protect from pinch flats too.

I would be cautious of these. As a member of a club we have had a number of side wall issues with the 4000SIIs. The originals did not show the same problem, but there have been at least 5 or 6 instances of the side wall breaking down and blow out punctures occurring on the new ones.

i had a similar issue with 2 gatorskin tyres (same manufacture) never had an issue previously then 2 x side wall blow out, 1 and 64kph.

Interesting I've been riding various generations of these tyres for years and had a side wall fail only last night. Following a couple of other failures I was beginning to wonder if these tyres are still what they once were in terms of durability.

Thanks for the advice which has put me off a purchase...i currently have the standard Grand Prix's and have been very pleased with their performance.....I appreciate there may have been a "bad" batch of the 4000S 11s but a sidewall blowout could cause a serious injury so I will avoid.

Say it aint so. That's a bummer. Never had a problem with the previous ones...well I say never...
I remember a pair I had of the 25's. I always check the tires well before I put them on and noticed that the thread was showing through in a number of places. Such poor QA for it to appear on two tires. I grabbed a pair of the older ones that were going cheap in 23's (like £25) before they stopped selling them, and now I'm glad I did.

Bizarro. I had original GP4000's last for thousands of miles. Fitted these new ones about 2 months ago and have just had a rear sidewall puncture as well. Just bought a new one but if it goes the same way I'd be looking for my money back...
