"protect"? We should protect red squirrel population, not some idiots living on your tax money who can't get through a day without a box of cheap alcohol. They are adult people, responsible for their life choices. I don't want to pay more for something just because Paddy McInbreed stocks up on Special Brew in his council flat.
Somehow many European countries don't have ridiculous laws regarding pub opening hours or alcohol pricing, so normal people can enjoy it how and when they want. And yet when you see a slutty teenagers vomiting in a taxi in France or Spain, you can be 90% certain they're British.

Massive boob by Scot. Govt. IMHO, trying the eliminate binge drinking and its actually made alcohol, beers specifically, more financially accessible to those on a lower income, or worse case no income, as retailers have just reduced the price of packs to suit the 3for2.

Which is why they're wanting to introduce a minimum price per unit.

Folks stocking up as you describe would take advantage of the 3for2 offer if it was available.
With retailers making the price per case the equivalent of a 3for2 actually makes it more accessible to the lower income or under age drinkers, which, I think, is the classes they wanted to deter from drinking.
