Somehow many European countries don't have ridiculous laws regarding pub opening hours or alcohol pricing, so normal people can enjoy it how and when they want. And yet when you see a slutty teenagers vomiting in a taxi in France or Spain, you can be 90% certain they're British.

Massive boob by Scot. Govt. IMHO, trying the eliminate binge drinking and its actually made alcohol, beers specifically, more financially accessible to those on a lower income, or worse case no income, as retailers have just reduced the price of packs to suit the 3for2.

Well at least it helps the hard workers who just wanna stock up and have drinks available for guests/partys/xmas/family

Folks stocking up as you describe would take advantage of the 3for2 offer if it was available.

With retailers making the price per case the equivalent of a 3for2 actually makes it more accessible to the lower income or under age drinkers, which, I think, is the classes they wanted to deter from drinking.

1) Yes, I realise this, it can affect all types from all walks of life.
2) Not at all, they are the folks that this ruling from the scot. govt. was supposed to protect, but I think it actually hinders them IMHO as it makes cheaper alchohol more accessible to them.

Don't believe the hype, many European countries do actually have strict drinking laws and taxes on alcohol, as they too have bad drinking problems. It's not just a British problem, and certainly not just a problem confined to people 'living on your tax money'...

Sadly minimum unit pricing will just ensure people with a drink problem spend less on other things, like fruit and veg. Putting tobacco prices up has the same effect. Addicts feed there addiction first then worry about, if at all, whats left. I regularly do booze runs to Carlisle!
