We've blagged Sky newbies (or those who left it 12+ months ago) this cracking deal on a 12mth contract via this special Sky line rent & broadband* link.
The offer goes live at 10am on Fri 19 Jun – from then, you'll get a code you can use immediately, but you can grab a code via the link now and Sky will alert you when it goes live, with a link to claim the offer. Codes can be redeemed any time before 11.59pm on Thu 25 Jun.
- A £100 credit we've blagged is applied automatically on your first bill. As this happens before you're asked for any payment, assuming you don't incur any call or other charges, the credit covers all payments for most of the first year - so you won't owe anything till a £5.35 balancing payment in the final month.

Probably not, BUT surely the best thing to do is phone plusnet and check rather ask a bunch of internet randoms about your account?
Plusnet may even try to match and save you the hassle of moving.

most broadband and phone companies only have 12 and 18 month contracts and rarely 24. if by definition of 'years' your talking more than 3. you only have to give them notice your terminating and the current month your in you will still be charged.
ElectronicsEngineer to Sstuff
17 Jun 15#56
If you are with PlusNet I would call them up and ask to match the deal or something - switched to Sky for the £100 M&S Voucher and Quidco cashback - worst choice ever - been with PlusNet for 2.5 years - no faults, no slowdowns - just steady speed that I could get at home - 5Mbps. Switched to Sky - first fault within a week. Then couple of months later a series of faults one after another - they fixed it once, then week after same thing.
Luckily there was a price increase so I could leave without incurring charges so I am back with PlusNet again and happy.
Might not be applicable in all areas but where I live I had Virgin (through landline), PlusNet and Sky....out of those 3 only PlusNet was reliable.

Sky are the best a round, unrivalled content and a solid platform. BT/talk talk boxes and poor and software is shocking. Virgin Media is a joke when the boss sits there and says we can't compete-that's why RB sold up! The only company that comes slightly near is Netflix and they have old content- a year and a Half behind. So from your comment,I totally disagree. As for the BB and Talk, the routers are winners across the board for free routers.
And to top it off,you try and find a CS that is that strong, BT and talktalk are all foreign and have no clue what's going on! Yes sky have their little faults but They are a very strong and solid business that offers the best

They offered me £10 of line rental, free broadband unlimited both for 12month and 40% off sky variety for 6 months and 60% off sky tv package. My mam tried and got the same and with different advisor.
I only asked to downgrade broadband unlimited then he asked my ideal budget then said offers on account. Worth giving it a go. Much better and easier than over the phone. They help you out more!

I have the impression that there is/are very few people on this type of contract. We have been with Sky for 20 months ( currently out of contract ) with this type of setup. And very satisfied too!
Reason for thinking is that a couple of months ago Sky rang and spoke to my wife and offered fibre, but because we don't D/L movies it would be a no gain situation, we currently get between 14 to 15 MBps. When the saleman realised we had BB only he expressed amazement as we where the first of this type he had spoken to. We are in N.Ireland and are very impressed with the service.

I have had two issues with the BB in the last 3 years and both times I have been put through to knowledgeable techies to resolve the issue. Turns out when the house was built 3 years ago a cowboy fitted the sockets and nicked/broke one of the wires and made an intermittent fault. luckily I wasn't charged and service is fine. I would have virgin if they were available as the ~10Mb is a bit poor in these days, but that is not their fault.

I find it funny that people are recommending PlusNet instead of Sky. It definitely depends on area, I moved from Sky who offered great service and support with good speeds to PlusNet as they offered a cheaper faster fibre package. No end of problems with my phone line since. The broadband has been fine but the phone line dodgy as hell. My brother did the same move and he is 25 miles away from me, exact same issues. PlusNet ported both our numbers over from Sky incorrectly and as a result we have been stuck with problem after problem. Mine are mostly resolved now, but I do have a slight crackle on my line still even with new handsets that has only appeared since the switch.

Worth noting that broadband speeds and reliability may be questionable, I have this package of broadband in my house and after switching from basic VM it is nothing in comparison. Can't even stay connected when more than 10ft away from the router, and even when in range, speed is so slow.

You're confusing bits and bytes. 17Mbps = 2.125MBps. They only advertise 'up to' these speeds. WiFi can also affect speeds.

You can use any router you want. Just make sure to get the login details before you take a brick to the SLY router. :P
edit: any real router, not some ISP supplied crap that you cant change the settings of. You can also use the Be/O2 login details, from when they were moved onto SLY if SLY wont give you the details.

I was stuck in a broadband contract with them for a year. The connection was so poor I was unable to stream YouTube videos at 480p. Their branded router constantly crashed/failed and was replaced twice throughout the year. Every time I called them for support I got the same long-winded robo-script that always concluded with the operator suggesting I was the party at fault and that any issues with the connection were at my end, not theirs.
I suspect it was never installed correctly as the connection speeds were poor from day one - the problem is you're not able to complain about this until 2 weeks after installation, by which time Sky's engineers will have apparently finalised the connection.
Never again.

Smacking hot deal - I just took Sky last week with the 100 M&S voucher and possible 90 cashback - which if paid would work out to 14 quid or so for a year - this one is better as no hassle of waiting for the cashback or being saddled with a M&S voucher which you may not want to use.

Can't comment about Sky, but I've had O2 BB => O2 BB + phone => plusnet => EE
Saved loads of money. They were all working well 99% of time.
The worst I saw was:
EE's DNS servers glitching (=> some websites not accessible) for a few hours every day for a few weeks in total. Annoying, but it may stop you reading **** on the net!
O2 shaped traffic quite a lot in the eve. But it was still sufficient for BBC Iplayer.
Plusnet, can't remember, I think they also shaped traffic and there were some rare outages.
That said, this is for London and 1-2 users on a 20Mb line. YMMV.
i cant see the EE switching information. Is it on the page?

I am with Sky I took this deal out a few months ago and honestly think they are brilliant, I am very happy with them! I would recommend them, touch wood nothing has happened so far. I also think not sure if Topcashback are giving £100 M&S vouchers and £93 cashback, if that deal works out better?
nige182 to husain_kola
17 Jun 151#172
I don't think so, the Topcashback option does not have half price line rental, so:
MSE - 12 months free broadband, 12 months £8.20 line rental = £98.40, £6.95 router delivery, less £100 cashback = total £5.35
Topcashback - 12 months free broadband, 12 months £16.40 line rental = £196.80, £6.95 router delivery, less £100 M&S voucher, less £93 cashback = total £10.75 with the requirement that you must spend £100 in M&S to reach this result

Sky are a nightmare. They have no incentives for people to stay with them. They changed my package so much in the first year, it went from £70-£80 (middle tier with movies and film, broadband and line rental). They took away some of the things we could access, stripped access for all HD channels - even ones you can get on Freeview, and they starting charging ridiculous amounts from our perks. Then you hear about all these people who are joining and getting loads of money off.
I'm still going to stay with them though. I just like to moan.
ili
17 Jun 15#173
Over live chat, EE is provided via BT, so no MAC code is needed, you just switch when you purchase the deal and sky take care of the rest. EE will charge you x amount, you then send that off to sky and they reimburse via account credit

I get the full 40Mbps. Did you phone them and ask them to check the speed? If they say your modem is receiving the full 40Mbps then the problem is your end. Also try connecting a laptop directly to the modem to check it isn't a wi-fi issue. If it is a wi-fi issue then try changing the wi-fi channel to one the neighbours don't use.

Good deal if not interested in European football. Sky are trying to get as many customers as possible into new contracts before the start of the new Champions League and Europa League season to stop them migrating to BT. I'm amazed at the incredible hate spouted about Sky on here. I have Sky Broadband unlimited and I get solid consistent speeds and have done for the last 2 years. I'm on the Sam Knows broadband monitoring and I have never had any problems, certainly no worse than with the other companies I've used. I find the customer service excellent and [u][any/u] problem however minor has been solved easily. No I don't work for Sky, I do however detest BT if that helps. Speak as you find I say and I like them and their TV service is the best.
Jon79 to blink2105
17 Jun 15#201
Amazing isn't it? I had teething problems with my broadband when i first got it and immediately blamed Sky but once i phoned up i got some quality assistance on how to setup the modem correctly and things improved. Then a few weeks later the speed seemed to slow down and again i jumped the gun thinking Sky was the issue. Phoned up and they said my modem was receiving the full 40mpbs so i knew it was an issue my end. I ended up moving the wi-fi dongle on my PC from the back to the front and BAM, full speed again.
So yeah, basically every issue i had was specific to my setup and i bet you the same is happening to other people who don't realise they can fix their own problems. The bottom line is to make sure you change the wi-fi channel to one your neighbours aren't using (google how to check this and how to change the wi-fi channel on the modem) Also if you are using a wi-fi dongle on your PC, like i am, then make sure it is positioned correctly or buy a better one.
This only relates to fibre broadband. ADSL speeds can vary.

Hot deal for those with low to average BB usage! Remember its sold as 'upto' as its ADSL so check the estimates expected in small print based on your distance to the local telephone exchange (just like any other Openreach product from BT, EE and TT)! I found their ADSL offering to be quite good previously but I lived near the exchange so that helped. If you upload (videos etc) a lot then i'd consider fibre over this as the uploads are much better on that product.

Hi I would just like to mention PLEASE check that SKY have there own equipment in your area before diving into this deal. Because I have had to stay with them for a year get around 1meg speed because there equipment was not in the area. And must of rang them over 50 times moaning about speed , watching videos is impossible. Basically if there equipment is not in your area they rent Bt 's stuff and BT will prioritise there own customers . Also they will choke your connection , loads of my friends were on this deal and had same problems.
But if it's in your area like a big city then it's a bargain...
Cheers just wanted to let you know...

Hi, think I've talked myself into this as so tempting but open to views .........
Will be second line in addition to work currently only 8Mb (6.5Mb actual approx 5-600M from exchange). Pay 20-odd per month to BT for line & anytime calls - so If I can get anywhere near 17Mb then would be well happy.
Or TalkTalk 18mth (12mth free, rest £5/mth + unlimited calls £7.50/mth plus £100 high street card (put towards new tablet). So 2.50/mth more expensive per month, plus the extra 6mths basically negates the 'free £100 voucher'
Seems a no-brainer for SKY, unless missing something or be really bad service. Any views ??

I wasn't renewing, I was a new customer (12 month contract, not 24), the amazon voucher may well only have been for new customers, can't tell for sure. The cashback only for new customers I believe. I got this contract abt 3 months ago.
I'm happy I've got a 12 months contract so I can get some more cashback in just 1 year when changing provider and yes whether I liked the service or not

Ok, I need some advice here:
Been with SKY for many many years (TV and Broadband only), but it was under my sister's name. She just got married recently and has moved out so she cancelled SKy TV and was told that Sky Broadband will be cancelled once I, myself, find an alternative ISP (So right now I am writiing this via Sky Broadband).
Personally I've been meaning to get away from Sky and try something else/cheaper but this deal is so good I cannot pass on it. What I wanted to ask is will I be able to get this deal even with this current situation. Also the fact that my line rental is with BT and has been for many years (another company I'm trying to get away from as they have been charging me too much over the years)
What would be my best options to do?
Thanks

Can I use the code NOW or on the 19th? I'm thinking of having this as a secondary failover line just for the £6 hell of it ya know.

I'm an existing Sky Customer, called them to ask if existing customers were given any offers as an incentive to stay. They basically bluntly put it that they're a business and they need to attract new customers, and no point for them giving existing customers anything. I said for existing customers it'd then be best to switch elsewhere to keep taking advantage of new customer offers. They said no because of some spiel of how Sky has better quality than all the others.
I hate this business of constantly annually switching everything just to ensure you aren't paying hefty prices, so companies can subsidise costs for newbies. If there was a company that offered new and existing customers the same competitive rate, I would defo sign up with them!
johndhuk to Mangs
17 Jun 15#345
I don't think that's fair. If there was a company charging £6 EVERY YEAR then everyone would sign up to them.
Switching may be a hassle, but its the only way these deals could ever be possible.

For a while this afternoon there was an addition to the original post saying that the offer was now unofficially live via the introduce a friend link provided. I wasted a lot of time trying to activate my code and complete my order via that link. I see that that addition to the original post has now been removed. And the page on the Sky website that confirmed the details of the offer is now also redirecting to the current offers page. It was a huge waste of time for me, but I did save a live chat I had with the online support staff which confirmed all the details of the offer with one addition: he said there will be a £5 fee for checking new customers card details, payable up front but then credited to your account in the first month.

Well the £5 get's added as credit so that's fine. I noticed it's a free line installation as well so that would be sexy. Either way £12.95 with router delivery, or £32.95 with installation for a years backup line isn't too shabby.

Regarding most of these comments;
Sky broadband is not necessarily terrible, in the same way EVERYONE is not necessarily terrible, it all depends on the line going into your house.
Believe me, I've only recently changed job from selling TalkTalk and I heard people say just about everything about every provider.
Also you can legally leave a broadband contract after 12 months, they reserve the right to ask for their equipment back back they cannot charge a cancellation fee unless you've modified the contract in the past 12 months.
If I wasn't in a contract paying £20/pm for fibre BB and £12/pm for unlimited everything on mobile with TalkTalk (note these are regular consumer deals) I'd strongly consider this, although in my house all copper internet connections are atrocious, about 3mb.

Hot news Guys & Dolls
Just rang up about this deal and queried the costs of installing a new line (as a spare, like many have hinted here), instead of taking over current TT line. The guy insisted there will be a one off £ 100 charge.
So the £20 myth needs revisiting. Maybe that's the cost of a takeover OR activation of an existing socket only !
Can anyone else recheck this ?

from money saving expert website just to make it clear;
Blagged. For Sky newbies or those who left it 12+ months ago signing up to a 12-mth contract and paying by direct debit, via this Sky line rent & b'band* link. You need a code (14,500 avail) - they're likely to go fast and you can get one now via the link, but can only redeem it from Fri 10am-Thu 25 Jun 11.59pm. Here's the deal:
- Compulsory line rental. Blagged for half-price for 12mths at £8.20/mth - so £98.40 over the year. It rises to the normal £16.40/mth after the year but you can leave then.
- Unlimited broadband (avail to 90% of UK). Up to 17Mb speed, this comes 'free' with the line rent for 12mths. After that you can leave or pay £7.50/mth.
- Compulsory Sky router. It's marketed as 'free' by Sky, but the p&p costs £6.95.
- Call costs. Weekend calls (up to 60 mins per call) to landlines included; other calls to UK phones are incredibly similar to BT (see full call charges). If you rack up £100/mth in call charges (even if your account is in credit), you'll be cut off until it's paid off in full.
- You pay £5 upfront to 'verify your card' but you get it back. It's credited on the first bill.
- A further £100 credit we've blagged is also applied automatically on your first bill. You'll therefore have a £105 credit on your account, incl the £5 above. Assuming you don't incur any call or other charges, the credit then covers all payments for most of the first year - so you won't owe anything till a 35p balancing payment in the final month.
Analysis: The £5, a year's line rent plus the £6.95 router p&p is £110.35 over the contract (excl calls). You also get the £105 credit ( £5, plus the £100). Factor that in and you effectively pay £5.35 for a YEAR'S broadband and line rental - absurdly cheap.
A £20 installation fee may apply. Don't have a line, or switching from cable? You'll pay £20. A few on certain standard lines may need to as well. The only way to know is via the application process (it'll tell you before you commit, you'll need your exact postcode and landline number). See Installation info.

So did I but I signed up to the deal but it showed the full line rental. I naively thought that the discount would be on the bill. Thought I had better check. I then spent 2 hours trying to sort it out. I have been promised that when my account goes live the nice lady I spoke to will personally make sure I pay the reduced price.
I admitted to being partly at fault by signing up too soon but I also had a moan about Sky website accepting a code that was nothing to do with the offer.

We currently pay £42.50 for the basic channels, multi room (half price), Unlimited broadband, phone line (free) and a £5 call package. Rang up yesterday to say we will be leaving as our bill will go up to £62 and they offered to knock £20 a month off for the next 10 months. Unsure weither to accept it or wait until nearer the date, restart as a new customer or leave completely. We got Sky broadband for free when we signed up to Sky tv last year. The experience of moving from Virgin to Sky was like falling from the sky. It took them 3 months to get the line sorted, kept on blaming me for the problems and threatened that they would charge me £70 call out charges if problem was mine, Got it working after numerous texts and emails and a month of checking and rechecking the setup the engineer finally came and there was an error at the street cabinet. It worked for a day and stopped and I had to endure another 2 months of countless texts (as phone also stopped working on both occasions) and emails from my mobile, their insistance that I had messed up the setup and the line was OK and they would charge me £72 for call out if it was my fault. Just checked my texts: reported by text on 23rd August, engineer came and fixed it 2nd time on 26th November. Worst service ever, Dozens of emails and texts and they kept on insisting that I phone on their 0845 number but my old mobile contract does not cover that number and it costs me a fortune. Still I tried but they put me in the queue for 10 minutes and I gave up. Absolute disgrace and, as I said, too expensive even when it is free.

After the call, I also went on live chat and the guys clearly mentioned that "if you already have a line coming in, then sky would take that over . A new line will cost £100" The engineer visit is to activate an idle/inactive junction box/rewire it to make sure you are connected ! I suggest someone double check this thoroughly tomorrow, so there are no hidden surprises.
Sky assume you are all on ADSL and would be an easy switch. Hence the offer. With Fibre, it is more difficult to switch at the exchange and BT needs to be involved. Hence running a new line costing £100.

17 Jun 15#388
Could you please tell me is the speed you are getting the one advertised on the website when you go through the speed checker depending on your address?
Does anyone know if it is still possible to leave Talktalk without cancellation fees because of the contract changes (broadband price increase £3.50 to £5) in the last 12months? I read it was allowed cancel charge free for 30 days after receiving the notification letter regarding the price hike. Just wondering if it might still be free, and if so worth switching to Sky.

For all those looking to arrange the deal for an impending address change / house move: note the requirement for a refundable £5 fee to be charged to a card during signup, this may fail if the registered cardholder address is different to the service / installation address.
From MSE: "You pay £5 upfront to 'verify your card' but you get it back. It's credited on the first bill."
Edit: seems the card verification procedure is via MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa, and does not involve any address crosscheck.

Called EE last night and put notice in. You do not need a MAC code anymore as it has changed according to EE. Your new provider will deal with it all and contact your current provider and advise them of the move on your behalf. You are mistaking mobile contract for phone contract. Month ago I left Sky (due to awful speeds and constant line fails) without incurring exit charges because they increased prices. I had a chance to do it 2 months after I signed with them as they increased the prices but then I decided to give them a chance (first week and first line fail - was not impressed). Then luckily price changes to 0800 numbers came along recently and I was able to leave early  - didn't take a risk this time....so I am now with PlusNet together with 35 cashback and 75 cheque from them and speeds are back to how they should be - their cooperation with BT is just excellent - took Sky week to fix my line....when I switched to PlusNet I had a fault on the line - notified them Friday evening on Bank Holiday weekend. On Sunday had a visit from BT to my home and guy sorted it out - something I would never expect to happen as you would think that on Bank Holiday weekend they would not work so I thought that it will be sorted no sooner than Tuesday but hey hey  now it's working flawlessly.

dragon2611
18 Jun 15#448
The way EuroDocsis works compared to VDSL2 and the number of people on a split (Coax segment).
Cables effectively a broadcast medium, the only reason you can't see the traffic for you neighbours connections is due to encryption.
It's a lot easier to do downstream traffic as it's coming from one point (the cab) and using telecoms grade equipment where as the upstream is coming from lots of place and also using consumer junk.
with FTTC it's a dedicated connection between your modem and the cab, The only reason crosstalk is an issue is because it's essentially RF and some of it leaks out of the cable and causes interference on neighbouring cables.

The word if comes in to play here.
"We want to make switching to Sky Broadband as easy as possible
From 1 May to 30 June 2015, we’re changing our current Switch Credit promotion from high street vouchers to Sky account credit.
If you choose to switch your broadband, calls and line rental to Sky between 1 May and 30 June 2015, you can receive up to £100 credit to your Sky account if your provider charges you to leave (capped at the amount you are charged for any monthly payments due after your leave and excluding outstanding call charges). This credit can be spent on your monthly Sky Subscription charges. If you join us outside of this period, you can receive up to £100 multi-store Love2Shop gift vouchers"
Sstuff

Yes but you need to provide all the relevant info they request from old provider before it's applied to your account. MSE just make out it goes on your account automatically it doesn't.
Please note, without a clear indication that this specific charge has been paid we won’t be able to process your credit or vouchers.
"Once we get a copy of your proof of payment of the charges you’ve paid, your new Sky services have gone active and if the information you’ve sent us is complete, we’ll credit your Sky account or send your multi-store gift vouchers within 14 working days; however there could be exceptions where this might take longer"

They should fit a new dish with a quad LNB so even with the Sky + box which uses 2 of these outputs you will have 2 spare lines. I told the installer I would be prepared to pay extra for a bigger dish and 8 way LNB. He said he could not install a bigger dish but I could have the Octo LNB for nothing.

WaftyCranker
18 Jun 15#477
Have you had a bad day at work or are just looking to cause some trouble ?
What fabricated condition are you talking about - this information was given to my by Sky just before I made my post and I take exception to anyone who says I fabricate what I say.
I was considering the possibility of getting a second line for £20 and at least one other poster on this thread was thinking along the same lines.
If some other poster has already mentioned the fact that a second line will cost £120 and not £20 then i am happy to give them credit as I have not got time to go through 24 pages on this thread.
.I chose to paraphrase the posters reply as the poster had simply copied and pasted the terms and conditions without actually responding to the specific point I had made.

You need username to log on to the network, and a few router setup details. PPPoA, vc-based, vci 0, vpi 38 and the username I use is "[email protected]" without quotes. These will make sense when you are putting them into the router...

So what's happening with the £100? Are they only going to credit the account if someone had been charged a termination fee otherwise vouchers or nothing? Not everyone pays a termination fee, atleast I didn't. I was in my 6th month of an 18 months contract with TalkTalk but due to the price increase etc I was able to get out without a penalty. I have already given my 30 days notice before this deal was posted as I was thinking of moving to Virgin Media.

Sadly some members have been confusing the £100 credit via MSE-promo deal with the completely separate "up to £100 credit" on offer when moving from an existing supplier that levies early termination charges.
The details of the completely separate early-termination-fee-credit deal can be viewed here http://www.sky.com/shop/offers/broadbandswitchers/v1/
Repeat: it is a separate deal; I have no idea if they can be combined.

Will wait for a day or 2 before trying again. I've got the code so they're not going to change the offer (I hope!)
Yep, the stupid part there is that they have put it on a 30 day auction but the code is supposedly only valid for a week. So if someone buys after this week it will be invalid anyway.

That seems random. The early-termination fee is usually related to the length of the remaining contract, and typically calculated at £xx per contractual month remaining.

I'm pretty sure you don't need a MAC to change phone, the companies sort it out between themselves.
If you current supplier charges an exit fee you may be able to claim it back as credit from Sky: http://www.sky.com/shop/offers/broadbandswitchers/v1/
Note: This £100 is entirely separate from the £100 credit offered in this deal.
j2theg
19 Jun 15#550
Done and done. £5 initial card payment (which with the £100 credit just about covers the entire year) + £32 exit fee from EE (quoted when I called EE) = £37 for year, so about £3 a month. Bargain.
Other people might want to check first how much the fee will be (if any fee) to exit their current contract. Also worth noting that the EE guy tried to convince me that there was small print on the Sky deal meaning I will end up paying for a Sky TV contract. Utter [email protected]

Thanks Nanuek and followed procedure below and although I advised I had no existing line (new house) therefore no landline number I expect it should have flagged the Extra £20 but it didn't so expect Sky to honour installation date booked. Here the blurb below
Will I have to pay the £20 new line fee? Whether you'll need a new line is determined on a case-by-case basis.
If you don't have a line, or you're switching from cable, you'll need to pay for a new line. However, if you have a BT line but pay another provider to use it, or you pay BT directly for your phone line, you may still have to pay the fee.
The only way to check with any certainty is through the application process. After you've entered your details, Sky will check these on the BT Openreach Checker to determine if you'll be charged. You'll know whether you'll have to pay the £20 before you commit to the deal, and you can choose not to continue if you do find you'll be charged.

Need some help here folks. I want to keep my existing BT line but req a new phone line connection with extra new number from SKY as want to keep both lines completely separate.
Which option is the correct one to select?
Sky Line Rental
Based on the information you have provided we should be able to transfer your existing phone number to Sky Talk if you wish. Your phone line and broadband will be activated on the same day.
Would you like to keep your existing phone number (***********)?
Yes - it should take around 2 weeks to switch your services to Sky
No - it should take around 2 weeks to switch your services to Sky
Please note:
Timeframes above are estimates only - if an engineer visit is required you will have the opportunity to choose a convenient date later in the process. Your exact activation date will be confirmed in writing once your order is complete. If you do not opt to keep your current telephone number, or for any reason we are unable to transfer this to your new Sky phone line, your new number will also be confirmed in writing before your line is activated.

So is the final amount left to pay per month for this deal is £8.20? all in for £8.20 a month

j2theg to Plasmachaser
19 Jun 151#636
£8.20 x 12 = £98.40 over the year
+ £6.95 router = £105.35
The £100 credit is put on your account soon after you sign up (so it looks like). Before that they take an initial fiver and your account details for any direct debits (say if you continue beyond the twelve months or sign up for a TV package).
Therefore you pay a fiver up front and then for the twelfth month will have a bill for 35p. You pay nothing/month because the £100 credit covers everything.
j2theg to Plasmachaser
19 Jun 15#638
£8.20 x 12 = £98.40 over the year
+ £6.95 router = £105.35
The £100 credit is put on your account soon after you sign up (so it looks like). They also take an initial fiver and your account details for any future direct debits (say if you are enticed to sign up for more Sky stuff).
Therefore you pay a fiver up front and then for the twelfth month will have a bill for 35p. You pay nothing/month because the £100 credit covers everything.

Comment heres how it works : free broadband for 12 months, half price line rental (8.20) a month, 100 credit will be added to your bill so every month the amount of 8.20 will be taken off tjat credit, as long as you dont get charged an engineer visit you will be paying 6.95 for the delivery of the router, which means your final bill may be chargeable for a few quid

no, the deal is £8.20 per month. but you get a £100 credit in your account. so the £8.20 monthly figure is taken from that £100 credit. so long as you don't over spend on the telephone, then the credit will take case of the monthly £8.20 bill. I think on the final bill you have to pay £5 odd quid. that's how ive understood it.

Hard work it is  but I went through with this deal with some Sky Chat assistance as the definition of new SKY phone line connection was not very clear cut that the existing BT phone line that is already connected to the property is not to be touched under no circustances as I have no access to & not under my own name.
For folks who want a second SKY phone line, Neha, Sky Chat advisor claims you must select NO option if you want to keep your existing phone number that is connected to your property.
Anyway got a chat transcript just in case things goes titsup. Fingers crossed on install day.

On the £100 Bill Credit when you are directed to the offer page from the email link, it says,
£100 Bill Credit
Get £100 credit added to your first bill when you join Sky TV online.
Simply choose the Sky TV bundle that suits you and complete your order online.
So, I don't think that everyone is getting free internet over here. If you don't get the Sky TV online, you wont be getting any £100 credit - Clear and Straight.
Maybe MSE have forgotten to check this small print but the Sky Offer Website clearly states this. Just click on the £100 Credit point under 'Yours at no extra cost' section.
The deal is still good though because you are getting half price line rental with free broadband for a year which comes to roughly £100, which is half that of any good deals we have seen in the past, but it is not free
wardi69 to abhijitdash123
19 Jun 15#665
You're right, also I'm not sure it's clearly stated as its hidden behind a button you have to click to show it! If this is the case then that's very misleading.. Can anyone confirm this or not?
EDIT: It states in the T&C's of the email this:
12 months free Sky Broadband Unlimited offer: New Sky Broadband, Talk & line rental customers joining Sky Broadband Unlimited without TV online.
So if you choose one do you not get the other??
KyleGM to abhijitdash123

I just called them and the guy says that they're getting a lot of calls about it which is why the chat is currently busy, but that he's fairly certain that you don't need to take the TV as well, but to wait until the chat option is back and speak to them as they don't deal with online offers
Also when you select a Sky TV package the £100 credit disappears from your order so this supports what he says
wardi69
19 Jun 15#670
I'm 99% certain that the text that appears when you click the £100 credit is from an old offer, and has been reused here but they've forgotten to remove it as it doesn't apply to this promotion. Otherwise they would have included it in the T&C's somewhere, and made it a bit more obvious otherwise its false advertisement

Ok thank you so much to the poster for this deal. We have been looking to get broadband for at least 2 years and haven't until this deal came up. To clarify:
* I do not have an active phone line for at least 3 years but there is one here. That means they don't need to send an engineer out and can do it externally which they have done.
*£100 will be added to our bill, BB is free and landline is half price meaning the OP is spot on.
*only charge we incurred was the delivery charge for the router at £6 odd. So phone line and Broadland for around £11 total cost for the year. Absolutely chuffed as hell, thank you HUKD and Op!!!!!!
This is better than the cookie deal a few years ago, the beer deal, the watch deal, the iphone5 contract deal, among others I have got from this app, oh not to mention the tablet deal on Christmas Day.
Amazed amazed amazed!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!
Sackboy1
19 Jun 15#686
Just ordered, all went through okay I think, £8.20 a month for the line rental, £6.95 for router delivery. £100 bill credit.

Anyone have a spare code ordered one but it never came
If the terms and conditions are stating you need to take out a TV package, this looks like an error, somebody copying and pasting from another offer maybe. It's not what was advertised by both MSE and Sky; and it's not what showed when the confirmation of my order went through.
You might want to hold off until this is confirmed, but it seems the Sky chat people are pretty confident this offer is legit. Would be a hell of a slur on "people's hero" Martin Lewis if it wasn't.

Telephone sky customer services on 02071267020, give them your code and they should talk you through the process. I had to make an account online essentially "a basket" which I emailed myself and then he took the reference number from this basket and added the offer.

Sky told you wrong. The ordering system checks the inputted surname and address against it's CRM system (Chordiant) for matches of accounts with either current live services or those ceased within the last 12 months. If there is a match, you're an existing customer. Mispelling the surname or adding and "A" to the house number doesn't return a match and so the order will go through.

So has anyone requested a MAC code from their current provider? Anyone else currently with TalkTalk?
matt48 to ruil1990
20 Jun 15#796
You may not need to, OfCom have just brought in a new process where the new provider can do all this stuff for you. It's only a few days old, so Sky may not have updated their website yet.
I'm a bit suspicious that they did this deal to coincide with the new process, so they can grab a load of new customers at once without the danger of losing them to retention deals when they threaten to leave the old suppliers.

I have just contacted EE. Just to make sure that all the correct things have been done. They told me that you have to give 14 days notice to cancel. So I am pleased I called them. My EE Broadband will cancel on July 4th and SKY starts on July 3rd. Just a watch-out for those cancellation charges.

just a quick word of warning, dont add a tv package to your account anytime during the 12 month period or your "free" internet will be gone as the 100 credit will get eaten up by your tv subscription
Darzen to jackthabiskit
20 Jun 15#805
It won't make any difference, you still get the £100. So the broadband/line rental will still be free and you pay for the tv package.
I'm waiting to see if there are any decent cashback deals or special offers from Sky as I want the family package but am willing to wait for the right deal.

Comment if you want to add tv try to get them to add it to a new account so you will be billled seperate
Update! From 20th June 2015 you no longer need a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) to change broadband provider in the UK. We are no longer able to provide a MAC to you.
Adrian7
20 Jun 15#804
You want a transfer hence mac not termination. Perhaps they misunderstood? All providers charge for termination.
jackthabiskit
20 Jun 15#806
Comment it will not still be free, if you add tv it will be added to your account number so you will have the broadband and tv packages, so for example if you are getting billed 8.20 for this deal and 25 for tv, 33.20 will be deducted from your credit and once thats been eaten up you will be paying the 33.20 a month, i say this as i had a deal with tv and broadband plus 75 credit and i only had 3 free months
Darzen
20 Jun 151#807
I know what you mean , as soon as the credit is used up you have to pay.
But the £100 still gets taken off your bill, so if you want tv it doesn't make any difference, essentially you're not paying for your bb/lr , or you're getting 3 months free bb/lr/tv.

20 Jun 15#810
I didn't pay any termination fee to TalkTalk and I was only in the 6th month of my 18 months contract. They sent me an email on the 18th of May about some price changes and I had 30 days from receiving that email to give them a notice if I wish to leave. I called them on the 16th of June to give them my notice as I was planning to leave anyway to join Virgin Media. Then I saw this deal a couple of days later.
I have got the sky code but still haven't used it yet as I am in two minds whether I should go backwards by signing up to a (max) 17mbps with no TV (From 38mbps Fibre broadband with Plus TV) or join Virgin media on their big easy bundle.
mike33
20 Jun 15#811
Few nearly signed up and just got to the confirmation page but the then it said you will get estimated speeds between 2-5.2mbps-no chance when coming from 50mbps and daring to advertise a speed of 17mbps which I would have not minded-poor if you ask me but great for lots of people who can put up with them speeds I mean £5.35 for the year fantastic.
I have connection problems over wifi and speed is not great.
HOWEVER - after checking on http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/speedtest/streetstats/ though, I am not so sure, as the speeds for sky broadband are even lower on average in my area.
Going for this would save £££, but this would be a gamble as to the speeds I would get.
I also have 3 talktalk mobile sims which are cheap, which I would have to pay full price should I go with Sky.
Not so sure I should go forwards.
Anyone else have doubts on the speed of Broadband?

I've just joined, paid the £5, created my Sky ID etc.
However, throughout the application, there were a couple of reminders of your package which included the £100 bill credit. Upon logging in though, this £100 credit isn't mentioned in my Sky account. Is this how Sky normal works with regards to the credit? Or will it show up on the 1st bill?
Would be grateful if someone could check/clarify for me. Thank you.

When I asked one the the people on SKY live chat they said this is added to your first bill as part of this deal.
So you will be charged on your first bill around £8.20 (+other charges if you incur any) but at the same time you will receive bill credit for £105. But this is only applied to this deal

A bit off the topic here, I was with BT and after getting this offer got an email from BT about Sorry you are leaving and all that along with this
As you've got equipment from BT, you'll need to pay:
£55.00 for broadband equipment charges.
I have no intention to keep their equipment - and tried ringing their customer care no, but been waiting for a bit to speak to anyone.
I mean I am leaving in th 11th month of my 12 month contract and I got to pay an early termination fees, but 55 for the equipment sounds a bit harsh......
any suggestions

Just came off the phone with BT "HELPLINE" - what I am told is - I will need to pay this early termination fees ( which I am ok with) and £55.00 for broadband equipment charges. - as I am leaving them before the 12 month contract period - they don't want it back and will not waive it - but if I were to leave after 12 months, this won't be there - I am not fully convinced, but would like to hear from anyone who had BT and is experiencing similar problems.....
thanks in advance

but just a bit furious - for BT to just bill us for this equipment, even if I am happy to send it back - going through all the terms and conditions, there is someplace they mention that - a fee may be chargeable if u end you contract earlier - not specifying anything about the equipment, well what can we do right............

another update,
on phone with Sky - They confirmed, that they won't be able to pay the "equipment fees" but will cover any early termination fees.
regarding postponing the start date, as the order only went in today, they have asked me to call back after Tuesday - to see if it could be done, anyway , I have until 2nd July to still cancel the order/move to sky - so let's see.

Sorry, this topic is getting mad with the volume of comments and difficult to follow. I have tried to read everything but may have missed something as some of it I skimmed. So if this has already been answered I apologise.
Has anyone tried to use their code and had it declined as you were a customer less than twelve months ago? If so does the code then become invalid or can it be passed along or tried again with a different name or slightly different address?
I ask as I have got a code, I left Sky at the end of June last year, so may be just within the twelve month period, but also they kept billing me until August due to an error their end (well between them and PlusNet) which was later corrected and as such might have me as a customer until August last year.

This should work fine as it will be under a different name

ok thanks for that,am going to apply on Monday for deal, cannot believe what sky are making out of this,is it just the publicity and press?

21 Jun 15#926
Yes because in small print its if they increase prices by more in 10% in any one period you can do this.
they spread it out over 2 increases so llots of people couldn't cancel without paying them a fee....
DalekFan69
21 Jun 15#927
Yes publicity and they will hopefully sell you other packages
jackthabiskit

Comment 14k customers on a almost free deal is nothing for sky, they make millions from tv subscriptions, and this probably adds to their required quota of new customers per annum...we arent complaining lol

Very pleased that I managed to get onto this deal and my connection date is 6th July. I was hoping to choose my own start date but wasn't given the option. Annoyingly I didn't request a code for my mother at the same time on her email address as her current contract expires shortly after mine. Feel a bit guilty about that.
Also I didn't go through any cashback site like topcashback, was that a missed opportunity?
Anyway thanks to rodrigobr for posting the deal. I was lucky enough to spot it at work and get onto it quick.

I don't appear to have that option yet but then my modem hasn't even been dispatched and I don't have a clue when the broadband will go live only the phone line which is the 6th July. I guess I have to wait to get an initial installation date before I can change it.

So SKY can increase prices over the contract period or not?
Could you please send a link to the terms, thank you
bonzobanana
21 Jun 15#946
Another question. You are asked for £6.75 up front for the router which you pay for with your credit card for delivery and then you have 12 payments of 8.20 which is £98.40 so isn't the deal cost actually the modem delivery cost of £6.75 and you lose the £1.60 credit if you transfer to another broadband supplier at the end of 12 months.
jackthabiskit to bonzobanana
21 Jun 152#947
Comment no, the router payment comes off your bill, the 5 pound deposit is made from your card, also the first bill will be more than 8.20 as it will be a month in advance, but that should cover your final bill
Flipd to bonzobanana
21 Jun 15#948
The only "upfront" payment is the £5 card verification check, and that is credited to your first bill, as is the £100 bill credit, and this is when the router delivery is charged at £6.95 but immediately absorbed by the credits.
So simple maths shows that the absolute base cost for 12m bb & ll rental is
(£5 - £5 - £100 + £6.95 + (£12 x £8.20)) = £5.35 which would be taken at bill twelve (billed / notified towards the end of m11).
So there is no remaining credit to lose "...if you transfer to another broadband supplier at the end of 12 months" (presumably having given Sky suitable notice, probably no later than the end of m11).
Opening post
The offer goes live at 10am on Fri 19 Jun – from then, you'll get a code you can use immediately, but you can grab a code via the link now and Sky will alert you when it goes live, with a link to claim the offer. Codes can be redeemed any time before 11.59pm on Thu 25 Jun.
- A £100 credit we've blagged is applied automatically on your first bill. As this happens before you're asked for any payment, assuming you don't incur any call or other charges, the credit covers all payments for most of the first year - so you won't owe anything till a £5.35 balancing payment in the final month.

This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Customers who require a new line will need to pay £20 fee to cover the OpenReach engineer’s visit.
Plusnet may even try to match and save you the hassle of moving.
Luckily there was a price increase so I could leave without incurring charges so I am back with PlusNet again and happy.
Might not be applicable in all areas but where I live I had Virgin (through landline), PlusNet and Sky....out of those 3 only PlusNet was reliable.
I asked them to match the newcomers deal which they agreed to in their retention department and managed to get free unlimited broadband, £75 cashback and paid for the line rental upfront £159.
this form is invalid
Just found the answer and it appears to be no.
The negative side is that If you ever want to move back to WLR, eg BT, there will be a fee. Maybe £75-100
There is not fee to move from Sky to BT. I did it 6 months ago!!
can this work for new customers, I have nothing at the minute..no landline, no broadband.
but I do have an existing line it just needs reactivating..
I wounder if you can use any of the cash back companies?
virgin all the way skys broadband is garbage thats why there trying to give it away for free
I only asked to downgrade broadband unlimited then he asked my ideal budget then said offers on account. Worth giving it a go. Much better and easier than over the phone. They help you out more!
I am looking at moving to Virgin from EE Broadband, how on earth did you get that price the cheapest i have been offered is £21.99 for the same bundle
Thanks
Works out at less than 50p per month for line rental (with free weekend calls to landlines) and broadband.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOz71wdKtdU
I just left Sky (was getting 5.5mb max) and with Virgin I usually get at least 70mb through wifi and around 140mb on a wired connection, for a similar price.
Also, Sky fibre broadband is not fibre optic
I ended up going with DirectSaveTelecom.
Most companies are like that, do you a nice deal to start then prices go up. For example, mobile phone companies, you stick with what works even if it means paying for it because they give you what you want! This is the same as Sky, people stay with sky because they are the best
MSE FTW

I don't have a landline installed - would I need to get one in order to get this deal, and if so, how much would I be paying for line rental?
So, 1 year of line rental and broadband for £26.
Might be better to go MiFi (well for me anyway)...
Completely different products.
Does sky use ADSL, ADSLMax or ADSL+2?

I currently have Virgin Media, but for the sake of £6 I will be comfortable knowing I will have a second connection regardless how slow the speeds are on Sky.
i'm a bit apprehensive in going for this, seems too good to be true. what's the catch?
Having said that, you'll get more junk mail as Murdoch may sell your details on to 3rd parties.
For 50p per month, I'm giving it a go. Chance to use my auto-dialer on the weekends:

Thanks.
edit: any real router, not some ISP supplied crap that you cant change the settings of. You can also use the Be/O2 login details, from when they were moved onto SLY if SLY wont give you the details.
TV bundles from £20 a month
+ free 32" LG TV or £100 reward
Sky Broadband Unlimited for £3.75 a month for 12 months
(then £7.50 a month)
Sky Talk & Line Rental (at £16.40 a month)
Whole year, £5.35 actually I think
Im moving house and currently cancelling virgin media.
I suspect it was never installed correctly as the connection speeds were poor from day one - the problem is you're not able to complain about this until 2 weeks after installation, by which time Sky's engineers will have apparently finalised the connection.
Never again.
YMMV.
Pay up to £100 to switch over, for those asking about EE and TalkTalk cancellation.
MSE - 12 months free broadband, 12 months £8.20 line rental = £98.40, £6.95 router delivery, less £100 cashback = total £5.35
Topcashback - 12 months free broadband, 12 months £16.40 line rental = £196.80, £6.95 router delivery, less £100 M&S voucher, less £93 cashback = total £10.75 with the requirement that you must spend £100 in M&S to reach this result
I would like to know this aswell if anyone knows
I'm still going to stay with them though. I just like to moan.
We're offered 40 mbps
So yeah, basically every issue i had was specific to my setup and i bet you the same is happening to other people who don't realise they can fix their own problems. The bottom line is to make sure you change the wi-fi channel to one your neighbours aren't using (google how to check this and how to change the wi-fi channel on the modem) Also if you are using a wi-fi dongle on your PC, like i am, then make sure it is positioned correctly or buy a better one.
This only relates to fibre broadband. ADSL speeds can vary.
It has worked for me as i have the code ready to go on Friday. I will call EE tonight and put my notice in
Thanks.
Exactly what i would like to know.
I cancelled sky under my name but want to do this deal under my partners name, its the same address and joint bank so i dont know if its allowed.
how did u manage this?
i am currently out of contract with VM and the best deal they offered me was 50mb fibre bb and unlimited anytime phone for £18p/m.
thanks in advance.
"Sky Broadband Shield activation required."
Also, did anyone else get a glitch on the registration form-initially it wouldn't let me use it more than once at the same household, then I just tried it again and it gave me 2 codes on the same page.
Bu**er
There is a good chance Sky will contact you in the coming months to offer you Tv at massively discounted prices.
Earlier on this year I was offered any Tv package, basic right up to sports and movies, at a 67% discount.
No guarantees but might be worth waiting a while.
I'm currently with Sky (broadband plus anytime phone) so could not get this offer. However as my contract is ending tomorrow they offered free broadband for 12 months and credited me £50. Altgo not as good as this deal it beats most quidco offers so was quite pleased. well done sky!
Can't wait for my contract to finish...
this might be covered but 12 pages on, thought I'd ask instead reading back. I don't have a normal telephone line. would they install one as part of this deal?
The ~7 days (in total) where VM have a fibre cut or something else in my area which happens at least twice a year, this can be good back up connection. Especially when you work from home.
so its £6 for the whole year?? and to install a new line will cost me only £20?? no brainer then if only as a secondary internet connection. have Virgin BB but probably will sign up.
Just got BT infinity activated 10 days ago, so still can exit the contract without penalty fees. Despite that, I think I'll stick to BT, not sure if I'll regret this...
Bit confused what to do?
" Service balance is depleted. " when trying to use the postcode checker.
I live in a flat, so depending on how they've listed my address is can look different, hope manually typing it doesn't change anything.
Then I mentioned the sky offer and as of an hour or 2 ago, they can't yet match it - but have sent it to marketing..... So I said I'd ring back on friday.
Can anyone please tell me how much of a difference there will be please?
Thank oyu
If I was you stay with fibre read my comment , if sky have there own equipment in your area it might be worth it other wise do not bother unless you like speaking to India 4 times a month to moan about speeds
Samknows quotes:
2 mbps for ADSL
8 mbps for ADSL-Max
SKY over the phone said it is garunteed to be over 9.7mbps or you can leave within 3 months?
Is samknows a trustworthy website or should I believe SKY?
Thank you
But if it's in your area like a big city then it's a bargain...
Cheers just wanted to let you know...
I'm happy I've got a 12 months contract so I can get some more cashback in just 1 year when changing provider and yes whether I liked the service or not
I would doubt it, they usually place the orders right away.
I'm sure you'll be able to put the installation date to later in July, that's what I'm going to do as well
We went to sign back with sky via CPW under the wifes name but heard nowt after a month.
So might get the wife to sign up for this as then add tv later via quidco.
So why have BT been charging £120 for so many years ?
I would like fibre optic but Virgin did the opposite side of the road 15 years ago but have never done my side. Lol
12
I don't suppose they have got some clause that says the £100 credit can only be used against calls not line rental
Thanks
I cancelled just over a month ago so my wife is signing up for this.
Can I use the code NOW or on the 19th? I'm thinking of having this as a secondary failover line just for the £6 hell of it ya know.
I can get the £100 credit added but it won't trigger 50% line rental, guessing that won't trigger till 19th so I should wait?
I hate this business of constantly annually switching everything just to ensure you aren't paying hefty prices, so companies can subsidise costs for newbies. If there was a company that offered new and existing customers the same competitive rate, I would defo sign up with them!
Switching may be a hassle, but its the only way these deals could ever be possible.
Me too, I am happy paying more for my BT internet.
Unlimited fibre is the best...but deal and contract ran out in april..I get 37mbps which is great as its advertised upto 38mbps. I'm going to ring them up tomorrow to "cancel" and get my usual deal of £10 a month for fibre
The landline rental from companies is approx £11 a year to bt wholesale.

:-(
Sky broadband is not necessarily terrible, in the same way EVERYONE is not necessarily terrible, it all depends on the line going into your house.
Thanks
"...Customers who require a new line will need to pay £20 fee to cover the OpenReach engineer’s visit."
Sorry if the q was asked and answered earlier - I haven't read all 330+ posts!
I dont current have a landline, just a virgin connection. How much would installing the landline cost?
"...Customers who require a new line will need to pay £20 fee to cover the OpenReach engineer’s visit."
£23 for a years internet? seems far fetched to me.
I admitted to being partly at fault by signing up too soon but I also had a moan about Sky website accepting a code that was nothing to do with the offer.
ZZZZzzzz
ether way voted Hot
Or can I take this out and then upgrade within the 12-months?
I was going to give sky a call next week as not in the UK at the moment.
In any case its going to mean an 18 month comntract from when its done so at the start would be the best time really.
I am only into the 10th month of a 12 month contract with BT, so would I be able to order this deal, this friday to start sometime next - end of July of start of August, of will the change over from BT - SKY needs to happen as soon as I give them the code and my details.
Also do I need to ring BT and get a PAC/PUC code for this swapover or sky does that as well....
thanks in advance
Shame I just joined PlusNet for year free bb and £75 cash this is way better! :disappointed:
the last time I tried doing that with BT - they asked for a early termination fees, but this time I have pre-paid for 12 months line rental, so hopefully won't have any nasty surprises.
When I ordered sky in the past - looong time back, on the online order page, there was an option - when would you like the SKY services to start/ engineer to visit to put up everything - and u could like choose any dates available for a few weeks in advance, hope that same option be available for this was well, could push the start date for a few weeks then
I've been with BT for soo long now, which means I'm not binded within a 12/18 month contract.
Edit: Right now, my phone line rental is paid to BT and my internet connection is paid to Sky. Both are outside contracts. No Skys TV subscriptions though, that was cancelled a couple of months ago.
As I posted I would have thought the Sky website would have rejected the code I was putting in as it was obviously wrong. Apparently they have corrected their web page now. If Sky don't honour the deal I will still be within my 30 day cancellation period although I hope it doesn't come to that.
they did that to me. got the 50% off for 12 months= they did 2 prices increases within the year Added £5-10 month on my bills
I have TV phone and fibre pro, they did the usual and put it all up and wanted £95 per month for it all, I gave them a months notice and this was dropped to £36 per month for it all, and fibre pro
They take the mick but I have no issues with the fibre, but remember to tweak your router as the basic settings aren't great,
Sky assume you are all on ADSL and would be an easy switch. Hence the offer. With Fibre, it is more difficult to switch at the exchange and BT needs to be involved. Hence running a new line costing £100.
It looks as this has now expired
I typed my address in manually and got my code.
Or an quicker check through this website, type in your postcode and then choose the "BT ADSL" option: https://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker
Thank you

From MSE: "You pay £5 upfront to 'verify your card' but you get it back. It's credited on the first bill."
Edit: seems the card verification procedure is via MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa, and does not involve any address crosscheck.
Standard ADSL RAG results
You cannot receive 2Mbps ADSL
You may be able to receive 1Mbps ADSL
You can receive 512kbps ADSL
You can receive 256kbps ADSL
I already get 3Mbps with my current provider. Will my speed be reduced if I switch?
Have BT Line but no BB on it currently - will this incur additional setup charge ?
Want to have Anytime calls @ £5 per month - will this still come out of £100 credit ?
Is caller-ID included as standard on SKY lines ?
Thanks
I got the code but not the link
Can anyone provide the link to me?
Thanks
anyone know what the connection set up looks like on the wall? any kind soul care to take a pic of how the service comes into the house via sky/bt?
with virgin you get a box in the wall for the connections and obviously the telephone line is then fitted where I wanted.
I got my code yesterday, Thanks :-)
ps my actual box looks tidier than above pic from internet
Missed it.
One connection goes to front, other to rear of downstairs rooms.
If I take out Sky will they put a new dish on or take of the existing LNB and replace with a single?
I'd love it if they put another dish on for upstairs , perfect for kids.
Thanks

I've just read through everything but still have a question please guys. I got Sky TV installed a couple of weeks ago as a new customer. Can I get this phone and broadband deal? I'm a new customer to Sky phone and broadband but now not a new customer to Sky because of the Sky Tv install?
Or install it under a new name?
Thanks.
Thanks in advance
I registered for a code and typed wrong email address so never got the code sent to me and didn't take it down manually. Any way to retrieve it please?
So I've been told by Sky. Very misleading stuff.
Someone told me you can only have one Sky dish per property but I don't know how true this is.
Although you can add tv at a later date and get a new dish.
12 months free Sky Broadband Unlimited offer: New Sky Broadband, Talk & line rental customers joining Sky Broadband Unlimited without TV online. Only in Sky Network areas. £6.95 router delivery charge. Up to 17Mb download speeds (vary significantly by location). After 12 months standard Broadband Unlimited price applies, currently £7.50 per month (pm) plus Sky Talk. No traffic management policy. Further terms below.
12 months half price line rental for 12 months. After 12 months standard Line Rental price applies, currently £16.40 a month. This offer is for new customers to Sky only incl. past customers who have not had Sky in the last 12 months. Customers can not be existing Sky TV customers. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Customers who require a new line will need to pay £20 fee to cover the OpenReach engineer’s visit.
But if you already have a BT installed line and want a second line it will cost you £120 not £20
On MSE it doesn't mention things other people have brought up such as:
Will the prices be fixed for the 12 month duration?
Are there any exit fee charges?
How far are u from exchange in meters if u check samknows?
Sky can go **** themselves lol. What kind of company advervises a deal as starting in three days, so that loads of people wait but fails to mention you need to register prior to be eligible? It sounds like a recipe to **** a lot of people off.
"...You need to grab one of 14,500 codes via the link above (update, Weds 7pm: there's a chance they'll go overnight, so go quick!) and you can redeem them from 10am on Fri 19 Jun-11.59pm on Thu 25 Jun. If you grab one in time, Sky will alert you when it goes live, with a link to claim the offer..."
The details of the completely separate early-termination-fee-credit deal can be viewed here http://www.sky.com/shop/offers/broadbandswitchers/v1/
Repeat: it is a separate deal; I have no idea if they can be combined.
I have a spare code but I am only willing to give it only to an English/Irish/Welsh/Scottish HUKDer. I will read preceding comments and PM one of you.
http://www.sky.com/shop/offercode
Not really a £100 bill credit?!
Just got the email too with the link which has the voucher pre-completed.
I can confirm line install was free though, not £20.
Would anyone like it?
I told her about the deal yesterday not knowing the codes had ran out :disappointed:
All it mentions is £100 m&s vouchers for new customers and £50 for existing. What happened to the bill credit??
Unfortunately, we have been unable to proceed with your order. To continue by phone, please call 08442 411 818."
Will wait for a day or 2 before trying again. I've got the code so they're not going to change the offer (I hope!)
I can, but the same terms and conditions will come up again...
These are the ones that come after you click the link in the email sent by Sky today
And no point in trying now - but wait for a while for the hammering to die down.
Ask Sky if you can benefit from the moving credit mentioned at http://www.sky.com/shop/offers/broadbandswitchers/v1/
Rodrigobr :stuck_out_tongue:
24th June installation date, I'm moving house this week so nice timing.
My PlusNet Fibre line won't be installed for 3 weeks so nice backup line can be used early. No installation fee for the OpenReach guy, just £5 upfront security thing, but I've got £105 bill credit
Does that mean I need to purchase TV bundle to get £100 bill credit?
Monthly cost
Sky Broadband Unlimited Free
Sky Talk Weekends Free
Sky Line Rental £8.20
Benefits and extras
Sky WiFi Free
£100 Bill Credit Free
Thanks for posting.
Does anyone know if I need a MAC address or if I need to contact my existing supplier?
The order went through with none of those questions - so I am assuming Sky will do all the leg work for me?
If you current supplier charges an exit fee you may be able to claim it back as credit from Sky: http://www.sky.com/shop/offers/broadbandswitchers/v1/
Note: This £100 is entirely separate from the £100 credit offered in this deal.
Other people might want to check first how much the fee will be (if any fee) to exit their current contract. Also worth noting that the EE guy tried to convince me that there was small print on the Sky deal meaning I will end up paying for a Sky TV contract. Utter [email protected]
EDIT: Actually, I may have misstated the MSE article. I would suggest reading it yourself including the extra info at the bottom.
Heads up, if you already have sky in your name, use ur partner's/wife's/girlfriend's name and its goes through fine
Get £100 credit added to your first bill when you join Sky TV online. Simply choose the Sky TV bundle that suits you and complete your order online.
I've just signed up. What's the best way to get a decent TV package alongside this offer?
Many Thanks
Thanks
The terms have changed to reflect this:
'Compatible line required, otherwise connection charge from £20 may apply.'
otherwise connection charge from £20 mayapply
it's like - Discount sale Upto 80 % in stores
I managed to get this offer. No install date as yet but hopefully soon and not a long two week wait.
Spoke to current provider Plusnet who said "we can match the free broadband but not the half price line rental" I explained I would like my MAC code. It will be with me in 3 to 5 working days via email.
is there a way round it ?? i dont understand what you are saying about 2 options ???
We did sign up via Carphone warehouse but we haven't heard anything for 3 weeks and they haven't taken any payments so cancelled that yesterday with CPW.
How do we get past this.
it clearly says on the print out: new phone line installation FREE
if so, im well chuffed but until it don't happen, I wont believe it.
when you select your postcode and it finds the adresses, select enter manually, it should be highlighted in blue, that way it wont recognise your line and will let you select am engineer visit, thanks to another poster on here as i had no idea myself lol

For everyone interested in this. it's now saying ''£8.20 a month''
i'm assuming when the £100 credit gets added on. it then becomes free?
+ £6.95 router = £105.35
The £100 credit is put on your account soon after you sign up (so it looks like). Before that they take an initial fiver and your account details for any direct debits (say if you continue beyond the twelve months or sign up for a TV package).
Therefore you pay a fiver up front and then for the twelfth month will have a bill for 35p. You pay nothing/month because the £100 credit covers everything.
The biggest cost will be any exit fee issued by your current provider.
Yes
Is this only for non sky tv customers?
Please help
Would love this if you have it spare?
For folks who want a second SKY phone line, Neha, Sky Chat advisor claims you must select NO option if you want to keep your existing phone number that is connected to your property.
Anyway got a chat transcript just in case things goes titsup. Fingers crossed on install day.
only concern is that i was never shown an option box to keep my existing phone number, even when i went back to the beginning and with the help of a sky chat advisor. anyhoo he seemed pretty certain i would keep my number regardless and i have kept the chat for proof. *fingers crossed*
EDIT: It states in the T&C's of the email this:
12 months free Sky Broadband Unlimited offer: New Sky Broadband, Talk & line rental customers joining Sky Broadband Unlimited without TV online.
So if you choose one do you not get the other??
and that only appears when you click on the £100 credit
Very misleading if this is the case!
Also when you select a Sky TV package the £100 credit disappears from your order so this supports what he says
Can't get an install date for 2 weeks but not really in a rush
Think that takes me to £5.35 for the year. Thanks OP! You've saved me a fortune!
Load of rubbish
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5264904&page=2#topofpage
If the terms and conditions are stating you need to take out a TV package, this looks like an error, somebody copying and pasting from another offer maybe. It's not what was advertised by both MSE and Sky; and it's not what showed when the confirmation of my order went through.
You might want to hold off until this is confirmed, but it seems the Sky chat people are pretty confident this offer is legit. Would be a hell of a slur on "people's hero" Martin Lewis if it wasn't.
Total cost for broadband, phone line, installation came to £10 odd
Telephone sky customer services on 02071267020, give them your code and they should talk you through the process. I had to make an account online essentially "a basket" which I emailed myself and then he took the reference number from this basket and added the offer.
Then how are you getting this deal as well?
No but about £10 odd
I just tried to push SKY on live chat for the deal and they wouldnt budge.
All they have now is free internet unlimited for 1 year and a £100 M&S voucher. Which means the line rental will be 16.40 per month. Lets hope some of the hot uk peeps will see another great deal for broadband soon.
Where did you hear 14000?
PM me if interested. At 9pm I'll pick a 'winner' for the code using a random number generator. Please don't PM me after 9pm. Any PMs I receive after 9pm won't count and I don't want my inbox flooded.
Lol
I am currently on Sky Broadband but paying BT for the line rental. The SKy TV package was under my sister's name who moved out earlier this year and cancelled Sky TV and BB. But she was told that the Broadband will be cancelled once I join an alternative ISP. A mac code was given, but has now expired (been over a couple of months).
Also I am not the bill payer for the BT line rental and I, myself, have never bought anything SKY under my name....how should I go about doing this?
Mine is being set up wednesday
Thanks very much Op
Ta!
I can confirm I haven't had a phone line since been in this flat for over 3years. There is a phone line already installed from a previous tenant but it is not currently active.
To answer your question; they don't need to visit your address and can activate it from their end, as happened with me. Amazing huh?
1) Do we have to get in touch with the current provider ( e.g BT) for a MAC code ?
2) Is it possible to choose a start date/ activation date - even if u don't need a new line/ Open reach engineer visiting?
thanks in advance
Has anyone confirmed this, because on my order it said £100 credit and nowt about a tv package
Confusion from people but agree you don't have to have Sky TV to get this
If you got the email about 08xx number charges increasing you can cancel without penalty
I do need a code for my daughter though if anyone has a spare one once its all settled down.
Those on plusnet getting told they will be charged £30, they increased call charges to 08xx numbers recently, if you got the email below and its within 30 days of you getting the mail, you can leave without penalty, even if you are only a month or two into the contract, that means you don't have to pay the cessation charge.
Hope that helps someone
Wish I could give you some heat...
Just ordered and £100 credit added WITHOUT TV package. We don't have a land line connected or Sky.
Engineer coming out in 10 days.
I guess Sky make so much money that 14500 codes isn't a great loss and they get 14500 new customers plus the hype.
@bhunterno1
PM incoming.
Just to check that this was the checkout screen for everyone who used this offer? Just to satisfy my nagging OCD as it doesn't mention the bill credit there
sky wifi free
£100 bill credit free
What did you do at the checkout, did you do it under a different name but same address? Thanks.
Free for 12 months (then £7.50 a month)
+ Sky Line Rental £8.20 a month for 12 months (then £16.40 a month)
+ £100 Bill Credit?
£100 credit from sky will be credited in your sky account on your first bill after activation.
You can claim upto £100 from Sky for any cancellation charges charged by your current provider but I am not sure if they will honour both the £100 bill credit and also the £100 cancellation charge. I highly doubt it but you never know, ask Sky via live chat.
Any chance someone has a code that'll help out a disabled old man??
I bought mine from Ebay yesterday for £10 and registered.
Could you please share the link?
Could you please share the link?
I have opened an account with sky and it has updated to say my broadband will be live on the 3rd July and i have a txt from EE saying they have had norification my broadband is being moved. Sky are not holding back..
I'm a bit suspicious that they did this deal to coincide with the new process, so they can grab a load of new customers at once without the danger of losing them to retention deals when they threaten to leave the old suppliers.
Just check on ebay for Sky Broadband Code. Someone else may list one. 2 have been on this morning and have been purchased
I wonder with new rules if this has changed but not updated yet? Anyone know?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sky-Broadband-And-Telephone-Line-Discount-Code-5-For-A-Year-/161739706524?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item25a870109c
Listing Ended.. Thanks for your help
I'm waiting to see if there are any decent cashback deals or special offers from Sky as I want the family package but am willing to wait for the right deal.
this is the message I am getting, currently with BT for line rental and BB
Sky Hub
Sky Broadband Unlimited
Sky Talk Line Rental
Sky Talk Weekends
Your Sky Broadband & Talk will be activated shortly. We’ll be able to confirm your activation date within 48 hours.
Update! From 20th June 2015 you no longer need a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) to change broadband provider in the UK. We are no longer able to provide a MAC to you.
But the £100 still gets taken off your bill, so if you want tv it doesn't make any difference, essentially you're not paying for your bb/lr , or you're getting 3 months free bb/lr/tv.
I have got the sky code but still haven't used it yet as I am in two minds whether I should go backwards by signing up to a (max) 17mbps with no TV (From 38mbps Fibre broadband with Plus TV) or join Virgin media on their big easy bundle.
Anyone have a spare code please?
I'm with Talktalk and for this price would leave.
However, throughout the application, there were a couple of reminders of your package which included the £100 bill credit. Upon logging in though, this £100 credit isn't mentioned in my Sky account. Is this how Sky normal works with regards to the credit? Or will it show up on the 1st bill?
Would be grateful if someone could check/clarify for me. Thank you.
So you will be charged on your first bill around £8.20 (+other charges if you incur any) but at the same time you will receive bill credit for £105. But this is only applied to this deal
If you click on discover TV today - it will tell you about the TV bundles available. You will also see Sky Talk and Sky Broadband have their icons in a bright blue - so these grey ones are not active in your package
As you've got equipment from BT, you'll need to pay:
£55.00 for broadband equipment charges.
I have no intention to keep their equipment - and tried ringing their customer care no, but been waiting for a bit to speak to anyone.
I mean I am leaving in th 11th month of my 12 month contract and I got to pay an early termination fees, but 55 for the equipment sounds a bit harsh......
any suggestions
thanks in advance
I have just checked on their site and there would be a £20 connection fee for setting up the land line.
Anyone else moving on from Talktalk?
but just a bit furious - for BT to just bill us for this equipment, even if I am happy to send it back - going through all the terms and conditions, there is someplace they mention that - a fee may be chargeable if u end you contract earlier - not specifying anything about the equipment, well what can we do right............
on phone with Sky - They confirmed, that they won't be able to pay the "equipment fees" but will cover any early termination fees.
regarding postponing the start date, as the order only went in today, they have asked me to call back after Tuesday - to see if it could be done, anyway , I have until 2nd July to still cancel the order/move to sky - so let's see.
will def keep trying and will update here as well
was just wondering, out of the 14,500 codes send out, and I am the only one getting this type of grief, unbelievable
(just moved into new house so money's tight!)
to choose another person in the house who hasnt got a sky account and register under their name
From MSE: "You pay £5 upfront to 'verify your card' but you get it back. It's credited on the first bill."
Bit worried I might end up with no service at home.
Has your MSE blagged voucher or cashback not arrived?
We often negotiate special deals with companies for you that involve them paying you vouchers or cashback. These normally arrive in 28-100 days of getting the service, and most people get them with no problems. But if yours hasn't come, we've set up [email protected]. Please incl your full name, order date, order reference & email you signed up with and we will pass these onto the relevant company to sort.
I do have a code, if not then I will pass it on t my friend, as I dont currently have broadband, thanks
If you've got a spare code then please can I have it. We are moving house and absolutely skint so won't be able to afford phone or broadband without this deal
Will let you guys know if I get a reply.
Has anyone tried to use their code and had it declined as you were a customer less than twelve months ago? If so does the code then become invalid or can it be passed along or tried again with a different name or slightly different address?
I ask as I have got a code, I left Sky at the end of June last year, so may be just within the twelve month period, but also they kept billing me until August due to an error their end (well between them and PlusNet) which was later corrected and as such might have me as a customer until August last year.
choose another person in the house who hasnt got a sky account and register under their name.
Also others have put an A in the address for example instead of 12 blah blah street - they used 12A blah blah street
Have had terrible problems getting on live chat though and had to phone them but they are not interested if the code doesn't work or has been used before.
I also agree with paying Ebay pirates £20 for this code - even tho I did pay £10 for mine - I just would not pay £20
Use this SKY link and put in your code and press submit
http://www.sky.com/shop/offercode
It will bring up the deal and then click on get started.
Put in all your details. Once you have completed you will get an email welcoming you to SKY.
Create a SKY ID and you will be able to track your order.
If you get stuck at any time click on SKY live chat and they will assist you.
Hope that helps
MSE shows this - try and you never know

What payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit cards from Mastercard and Visa.
Can I pay with a Maestro or Solo card?
No, Sky Payments no longer accepts payment using Maestro and Solo cards.

Thanks!
Would love another one for my 80 year old mum who wants to learn how to use a computer and get on the Internet.
If anyone can help please PM me and many thanks Chi
ok thanks for that,am going to apply on Monday for deal, cannot believe what sky are making out of this,is it just the publicity and press?
they spread it out over 2 increases so llots of people couldn't cancel without paying them a fee....
Also I didn't go through any cashback site like topcashback, was that a missed opportunity?
Anyway thanks to rodrigobr for posting the deal. I was lucky enough to spot it at work and get onto it quick.
Could you please send a link to the terms, thank you
So simple maths shows that the absolute base cost for 12m bb & ll rental is
(£5 - £5 - £100 + £6.95 + (£12 x £8.20)) = £5.35 which would be taken at bill twelve (billed / notified towards the end of m11).
So there is no remaining credit to lose "...if you transfer to another broadband supplier at the end of 12 months" (presumably having given Sky suitable notice, probably no later than the end of m11).
