Similar to a deal already posted but on a 3 year scale and aimed at savings once graduated.
This deal is for students only and focused at final year students:
Students in their final year of university (as well as other years) can order a 3 year NUS extra card for £30.
This must be done before the course end date and allows students to benefit from another 3 years of NUS benefits.
For an extra £10 you can get a 3 year Gourmet society bolt on which affords you the same benefits as Gourmet society members at a fraction of the price.
The 3 year Gourmet society card usually costs £209.85 so that's a saving of £199.85!!
With the Gourmet bolt on the total cost is £40!!
Cards may be collected from the relevant student's union for free or delivered home for £1
NUS benefits may be found here: http://www.nus.org.uk/en/nus-extra/discounts/

10% off Amazon
10% off shopping at co op
etc.

benefits are up to 50% off at over 6500 UK food outlets

Had a NUS card since starting Uni, not used it once...
Everything that you can buy from the shops with discount you can buy online for a lot cheaper anyway... Or maybe thats just me.

gourmet society is useless . it doesn't work most of the tasty restaurant. Their search function is so awful.

I agree about the search function however if it saves me cash a couple of times per year, I think its still worth the extra £10. I suppose it depends on the individual and how likely they are to benefit from it

Agreed Gourmet society is a pants card. Its always seems to be chasing the Tastecard though in terms of deals / restaurants

It depends. Plenty of places offer student discount rates (museums, galleries, cinemas etc) as well as high street shops. I wouldn't say I've saved loads of money, but I've definitely saved more than the £10 I paid for the NUS Extra card. All down to the individual I suppose.

Spotify £5 instead of £10, gym membership £17.50 instead of £25 (most gyms money off), new look money off, etc

I got confused about this when I started uni too. An NUS card is your standard uni ID card that you get, with that you're entitled to standard student discounts that stores offer. With an NUS extra card you're supposedly meant to get extra discounts that you can't get with a standard student ID. I've found that most of what I use my student discount for is covered under my normal ID anyway.
NUS do offer other discounts, but as I said I find it easy to just live with your standard ID (NUS) discounts. I am graduating this year though so I'm considering getting this because I'm going to miss my student discounts!!
