Everything that you can buy from the shops with discount you can buy online for a lot cheaper anyway... Or maybe thats just me.

gourmet society is useless . it doesn't work most of the tasty restaurant. Their search function is so awful.

I agree about the search function however if it saves me cash a couple of times per year, I think its still worth the extra £10. I suppose it depends on the individual and how likely they are to benefit from it

Agreed Gourmet society is a pants card. Its always seems to be chasing the Tastecard though in terms of deals / restaurants

It depends. Plenty of places offer student discount rates (museums, galleries, cinemas etc) as well as high street shops. I wouldn't say I've saved loads of money, but I've definitely saved more than the £10 I paid for the NUS Extra card. All down to the individual I suppose.

I got confused about this when I started uni too. An NUS card is your standard uni ID card that you get, with that you're entitled to standard student discounts that stores offer. With an NUS extra card you're supposedly meant to get extra discounts that you can't get with a standard student ID. I've found that most of what I use my student discount for is covered under my normal ID anyway.
NUS do offer other discounts, but as I said I find it easy to just live with your standard ID (NUS) discounts. I am graduating this year though so I'm considering getting this because I'm going to miss my student discounts!!

So this can be used the same as your normal student card? Isn't just specific to NUS deals?
Might get this before I leave uni this year just because I know I'll buy another Mac before those 3 years are up. But then again people are saying you don't even have to be a student to get student discounts on macs...

seems every one is now uni-days instead so this is now a bit pointless:(
The trick with getting one of these cards originally was saying you use a distance learning college
They're probably using uni-days because of loopholes like this.
For uni-days you need an academic email address.

I get the option in the basket, where you can add the gourmet society thing for £9.99. you have to put in your email, place of education and education details before getting to the basket bit. I haven't had a NUS extra before though.

Picked one of these up last time it was posted not been a student for 5 years. But the 10% off at Co-op has paid for its self over and over again. 16 Mar 15#44
As regards the free burger or ice-cream with the NUS card - you have to buy a full meal - ie Big Mac meal, Chicken Nugget meal, etc, I thought it would be one free burger or ice-cream for EACH meal bought. I'm a mature student with teenage children and when I tried going through the drive-thru, I ordered 3 meals and asked for 3 free ice-creams, but the staff refused to let me have this (only gave me 1 free ice-cream). Has anybody seen where it says that you are only allowed to have 1 free ice-cream or burger per visit? Surely, if I am paying out for 3 full-price meals, the deal should still stand - one burger or ice-cream for a full-price meal? Thank you.
Sophiasky
16 Mar 15#45
I have found that the Endsleigh cards don't work as a Unidays card, wish they had said that in the small print. I bought one on the deal for £9.99 even though I am a mature student - it was cheaper to get the Endsleigh one than the college one. When you try to purchase something on the Unidays site, it ask which establishment your card is with - Endsleigh is not recognised, you have to have the official college card.

I think this is a good deal, particularly for students who will be finishing uni soon or even people who aren't students at all! If you don't shop often or are currently a fresher or second year student then fair enough, maybe this is not a deal worth investing in but £32 for 3 years is pretty darn good... don't know why so many people are complaining about it.
I tried looking it up for my university (Liverpool Guild of Students) and the 3 year option is there is there. I will be taking advantage of this when I'm getting closer to graduation
