Not a lot of people know this but if you are a student or you know a student you are able to get 15% off apple products (excluding iPhones) and also you get a huge discount on applecare. You can also get it even if you NOT a student, but you have to purchase it only. If you are a student, with a student card, you can go instore and show you id card.
I am not a student myself, but I knew someone who was. All I had to do was to go the apple store with them and all they needed with the student ID card. They just take down your name, so that you cannot use it again for another year as each student is only allowed 15% once a year.
They also give you a discount on applecare. When I was buying my new macbook, apple care would have cost £200, but they charged me only £40-50.
Hope this helps someone. Please don't be harsh, I just started posting deals. :)

I believe the 15% is only on Higher education students not college student,s which is abit 8% discount.mits also upto as well, since some things are 5% off etc. Still good value. I looked at cost of going to USA and livig up a macbook but it works out cheaper to get the discount and applecare here than in the states!

I brought a MacBook Pro a few months ago using university ID and got about 15% off. Also Apple Care was discounted to £40 instead of near £200

My son used his educational discount to get his Macbook discounted, interestingly he was logged on to Quidco and despite educational discounts not being allowed via Quidco somehow it tracked and paid out over £30!

I've used this several times in the past, it's a great saving. The extra for AppleCare is a no brainier IMHO although IIRC you get 3 years guarantee included with the student price and only need to upgrade to the full AppleCare package if you want the extras like 3 year telephone support - although that may have changed since the last time I used it.

As I've said on Apple deals many times before, you can buy online using a Higher Education link and get the discount, without actually being a student.

If you buy it online and not in store I think the 3 year warranty part of AppleCare is included in the price

When I got mine in June, it included the AppleCare for 3 years and a £50 Apple Store Voucher if I'm correct. That's during their Back to School period.
