Not a lot of people know this but if you are a student or you know a student you are able to get 15% off apple products (excluding iPhones) and also you get a huge discount on applecare. You can also get it even if you NOT a student, but you have to purchase it only. If you are a student, with a student card, you can go instore and show you id card.
I am not a student myself, but I knew someone who was. All I had to do was to go the apple store with them and all they needed with the student ID card. They just take down your name, so that you cannot use it again for another year as each student is only allowed 15% once a year.
They also give you a discount on applecare. When I was buying my new macbook, apple care would have cost £200, but they charged me only £40-50.
Hope this helps someone. Please don't be harsh, I just started posting deals. :)

hey thanks for the detailed description. im having trouble using this though, Im assuming the store link is the little suitcase in the top right hand corner ? when i click here it takes me to the university page but from there it doesnt seem to be an option for "Shop Mac" ,only "Continue Shopping" which takes you back to the page which says "Sorry...
Unable to enter the requested store." am i doing something wrong here ?
Thats the new Macbook Pro 15" with great discount and 3 years warranty included, thanks op! :sunglasses:

I got the best (default) MacBook Pro 15" with Retina display and dual graphics: 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600MHz memory, 512GB PCIe-based flash storage, Intel Iris Pro Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB GDDR5 memory
Because you're not accessing it from a University network - To get around that, simply click "Store" from the menu at the top of the page, this time it will take you through to the Education store without any issues. Click Shop Mac, select whatever you want to buy and enjoy the discount.
If there's any chance you're going to be selling it within the next 3 years, or if you don't have an Apple store near you, the APPLECARE PROTECTION PLAN UPLIFT is worth paying the little bit extra for (for 15" Retina it's £60), because that way you have full ApppleCare coverage for 3 years that can be transferred to someone else if you sell it (the free 3 year warranty can not be transferred) and Apple will collect your device for repair if anything goes wrong (you have to take it to the nearest store with the free warranty).
I placed my order late afternoon, there was no verification of my "student" status (I'm not one) and my new Mac arrived before noon the next day.

While I am going to uni, just not UEA as I have better offers, I don't think it would matter. The student bit is only for the purchase transaction. After that, the Applecare is just linked to my serial number as it would be if I bought it any other way, I'm pretty sure it's not a student specific version.

So what happens if you buy it one day, one week, one month, one year (etc..) before finishing uni? Suddenly the remaining applecare becomes voided? I don't see that being the case somehow.

This post is not the best or cheapest way to buy apple products.
If you are a student or staff member from an apple recognised higher education provider - purchase through the apple online shop or via telephone - NOT as the original poster says.
Why: if you purchase in store using your student discount sure you will get an academic discount on the hardware and a discount on apple care. BUT if you purchase through their website you get the extended 3 year HE apple care FREE.

I have tried the Apple Sales and they informed me that they do not give 15% on NUS Card. I wanted to buy Ipad Air 2 Cellular. Normal price without Card £579 and with the NUS Card £555. This has been the case for a long, long time. It's higher education only. Good I guess for people who didn't know but I feel like if you have an Apple store near you your lecturers should be telling you about the student discounts Apple offer, maybe I was made more aware of it at the time as I did digital art which we only learnt on mac's and needed Apple products for. Purchase Quantity
Faculty, Staff and Students purchasing from the Apple Store for Education will be allowed to purchase the following quantities of product per academic school year. Not all products have special Education Pricing.
Desktop: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
Mac mini: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
Notebook: One (1) may be purchased per academic year
iPad: Two (2) may be purchased per academic year
Display: A maximum of two (2) may be purchased per academic year
Software: A maximum of two (2) per software title may be purchased per academic year
The above purchases can be made either online or in an Apple Retail Store. Total product quantities remain the same regardless of where your purchase is made.
This is what is included. So no iPod or iPhone. iPads are only reduced by around £20. So the only items that really hit the 15% is a few of the Mac products.
VoRnY
14 Feb 15#12

Nothing new, and title is misleading. It's UPTO 15% depending on which product line, iPads for instance are 4% iirc. Laptops have a higher discount rate than desktops as well. This has been the case with apple for as long as I can remember them having retail stores.

I've used this several times in the past, it's a great saving. The extra for AppleCare is a no brainier IMHO although IIRC you get 3 years guarantee included with the student price and only need to upgrade to the full AppleCare package if you want the extras like 3 year telephone support - although that may have changed since the last time I used it.
