Free ultrafast Wi-Fi. And that’s just the beginning.
Good-Bye Pay Phone, Hello InLink!
InLinkUK is a new communications network that will replace over 1,000 pay phones in major cities across the UK, with new structures called InLinks. Each InLink provides ultrafast, free public Wi-Fi, phone calls, device charging and a tablet for access to city services, maps and directions.
Key Features
Connect to free ultrafast Wi-Fi using your personal device. Access maps, directions, and city services from an easy-to-use touchscreen tablet. Stay in touch with free phone calls from BT. Press the dedicated red 999 button in the event of an emergency. Safely charge your device using one of two USB ports. Enjoy more room on the pavement with InLink’s sleek, resilient design. View public service announcements and more relevant advertising on two 135.7cm HD displays.
And hopefully, more spot's in and around the outskirts of London will be added to this soon enough also though?. :-)

InLinkUK from BT is a new communications service that will replace hundreds of BT’s existing payphones with new, ultramodern units, called InLinks, delivering free ultrafast public Wi-Fi and other free premium services including mobile device charging, access to local services and national landline and mobile phone calls. Residents and visitors of London will be able to enjoy InLinks’ services from Summer 2017, with plans for other cities across the UK to benefit from InLinks in the near future.
InLinkUK from BT is provided through a joint venture between Intersection, the company behind LinkNYC, and leading UK out-of-home media company Primesight, in partnership with BT.
InLinkUK from BT’s ultrafast Wi-Fi, access to maps, directions, and local services via the touchscreen tablet, device charging, and UK landline and mobile phone calls are all free services. International and premium rate phone calls can be made by using a calling card.
InLinkUK from BT comes at no cost to the taxpayer, national or local. Deployment and maintenance of InLinks will be funded by revenues from advertising on the unit’s digital displays.

It is all about the advertising, so there is a reasonable chance that whilst they sound great in theory once they start needing maintenance due to vandalism, IT bugs, etc that you'll find the advertising panels are kept clean and in working order whilst the useful functions are allowed to fall into disrepair (or slow-time repairs) just like most info points and similar that we've seen in town centres in the past.
