True :stuck_out_tongue: I did write a long list of screw up's by Vodafone but hit delete rather than Edit... Argh!
I wanted 4 phones on a retentions deal SIM Only Plan.....
Live Chat lied and promised a 62% discount for a retentions deal (impossible - Vodafone don't do 62% discounts :p). I agreed at the time to the deal & he -upgraded- just 1 phone plan rather than a retentions deal (Over double the price!!) and did nothing on the other 3 phones at all. Cairo CS said live chat had done it right and "Wait for my next bill". UK Complaints fixed 3 phones plan and put the 4th phone on a more expensive tarriff due to an accidental mis-click. UK Complaints put the 4th phone on the correct data plan but didn't change from the more expensive price. They just lowered the data to the correct amount. UK Complaints then finally activated Spotify on the 4th phone number by 'resetting' it. UK Complaints then promised it was on the correct price plan when I phoned to say it was not, they claimed I was just not seeing the updated price yet. Today UK Complaints confirmed it was always on the wrong price plan, they can't change it. So they'll give me equivalent account credit.
Each of those lines happened several days apart - each requiring an extensive phone call. So many lies and misinformation.

Last point is not correct.
Vodafone Global Roaming lets you use your UK allowances for:
Calls to standard UK landline numbers*. For example, if you’re in France and call your friend’s home phone in the UK Calls to standard UK mobile numbers*. For example, if you’re in Poland and call your friend’s UK mobile number Texts sent to standard UK landline and mobile numbers*. For example, if you’re in Spain and send a text to your friend’s UK mobile number Calls and texts to standard landlines and mobiles in the country within which you’re roaming. For example, if you’re in Greece and call a local restaurant to book a table If you’re in one of our Roam-free destinations, calls and texts to other Roam-free destinations are also included. For example, if you’re in Spain and phone a hotel in France this would be included Any data used from your UK data allowance and Extras. If you do exceed your data allowance, you’ll pay the same as you would in the UK for going over your allowance
*Standard UK numbers – UK landlines starting with 01, 02 and 03, and standard UK mobile numbers starting with 07.
Vodafone Global Roaming does NOT include:
Calls to non-geographic and premium-rate numbers Calls and texts from one of our Roam-free destinations to one of our Roam-further destinations, for example calls between Spain and Canada Calls and texts between Roam-further destinations, for example calls between Canada and the USA Your entertainment pack of either Spotify Premium, a NOW TV Entertainment Pass, or Sky Sports Mobile TV

Based on the below quote from the Vodafone website you should be able to switch to one of the new plans but keep the same end date of your current contract.
I’m mid-way through my Vodafone contract - can I get Global Roaming?
No problem. To take advantage of Global Roaming, call 191, free from your Vodafone mobile, to join one of our new Pay monthly plans. Don’t worry, the end date of your current contract won’t change.

Hmm not sure. It's cheaper for Vodafone (and any company) to outsource customer services so I wouldn't be surprised if there even is a UK customer services team now. If there is, it is a lot smaller then outsourced so very hard to reach. There's even a customer service robot on live chat called Tobi.

I'm currently on a £19.20 plan with 12Gb UK data - new plans are £19 for 16Gb global data so effectively 20p less for 4Gb more...

No its not I spent a week in Madeira and had 4g everywhere I went. I am on the older 20gb tariff with 4gb roaming. The 4gb does not come out your UK allowance but not sure if this has changed with the new tariffs. I use to be on 3 a in USA and France the data was just usable.

vodafone world traveller was £5 per day as included in the red bundles for just over a year but it looks like they are renaming it to free roaming. i think that if you are in uk then say you rang roi then that would charge you the £5 per day which is crazy as you already paying your contract. personally i am on the value red bundle at unlimited mins, unlimited texts and 20gb data uk and on roaming i get unlimited mins/texts and 4gb data and 100 pic messages and then i have an add on bolt of £5 per month called ireland plus all for £22 per month. my son was also in italy and used phone for week ringing me in ni and i was ringing him and did not add any extra charges on either of us.now i know this is not the same as the ireland plus bolt is only available to people on island of ireland north and south but i would like to think there is bound to be a bolt similar in england etc for the £5 per month.

Mentos
19 Apr 17#15
With regard to the roam further @ £5/day, the previous version of this was called World Traveller:
That used to include free incoming calls and texts. So you wouldn't have to pay anything if someone called/text you, but would pay the £5 on any day you used data or made an outgoing call/text.
We get World Traveller on our current contracts and the free incoming is really worthwhile. Means we don't miss any calls on our UK number (no need to tell people to call on your local number/etc) and for occasional use just pay the £5 for the day. But if we'll be using the net a lot we just grab a local SIM or 3 SIM to chuck in another phone/tablet.
I can't seem to find the T&C's for Roam Further to confirm the incoming is still free. Can anyone confirm?
Also one positive over other networks I've used is you get decent bandwidth in Europe. I was getting comparable bandwidth to friends/family/colleagues using local contracts (including 4G). Whilst on EE & 3 I was getting much lower bandwidth in the past.

I joined Vodafone in mid-March - almost EXACTLY a month ago. Cashback status was updated Apr 1st and is "within" 36 days from then - so not long...
Firefly1
19 Apr 17#17
If you joined on the 21st March, I estimate you could get the deal IF you really need it (Cooling off period of 30 days). You would very likely lose the cashback. Basically requires phoning "Thinking of leaving us" and saying that you are upset that you missed out on it and you want to leave (At which point they'll get you onto this).
If you upgrade your tarriff post 30 days, it seems (from posts above), you'll get it but you are obviously paying a higher price and they don't like negotiating discounts on mid-contract tarriff changes (They want you to pay more mid contract). In this situation, wait for Quidco to pay out and then try to upgrade your tarriff by paying a couple of quid more per month.
P.S. From memory, that £19.20 offer had 40% offer the regular price, so it may be hard to upgrade to anything mid-contract near that price point for that amount of data.

I'm still staggered how we've made technological advancements yet the price has rocketed up! I used to have unlimited worldwide 3G data on T-Mobile for £15/mth. Now I'd be lucky to find 20gb EU 4G for under £25/mth.

Firefly1

They'll only let you pay more, not less mid-contract upgrades - just keep in mind  I think you'll find your current contract covers a lot of data in the EU already (?2GB) and you also have access to the £5/day countries. And you will be able to access all your data in the EU mid-June as far as I figure.

If you haven't signed a new 12 month contract, you have access. Sign up to a new 50% discount deal whilst you're at it. If you're a Vodafone Red customer, this offer doesn't add much more than what you currently get if you're on a high data tarriff.
Firefly1
19 Apr 17#28
I would post it as a deal but it'll go instantly cold.
All Vodafone Red SIM Only contracts can be renewed at 50% off after the first 12 month contract.
So nobody should be paying £12 extra for anything. The whole bill should be £15-£20
That's a far better deal than what the OP posted, so be more concerned getting that
You might get offered 30% and then 40% off, give in there if you wish. Don't ever pay full price though as they are ripping you off.
It'll go cold because even with 50% off, it's still poor value.

Some people really are deluded. Running a mobile network isn't free, it costs £billions to setup a network and £100millions/even billions EVERY year to run a complex business; banking is a doddle in comparison.
All it will do is slow down technology advancement to a snails pace
Estimated cost to build a 4G / LTE network in the UK is approx £1 billion (in the USA its even more) - that's just the network itself, not the IT/Operations to support it, and a 3G network to cover areas that 4G dont cover you can easily double that figure and more money to actually operate it

I digress with your views totally. The capital sunken costs have long been amortised . Now its just the operational costs and bits more investments. As for "roaming", free or otherwise, its just a question of arrangements they have to make with local operators on a reciprocal basis. It (costs) usually evens out. The jargon of "terminations charges" is just that,. A jargon to hoodwink authorities.
Its not for nothing that EU got involved to remove this arbitrary and artifical restrictions AND COSTS argument. And its been going on for years. And the wheels of EU dont move fast enough, yet they saw this abuse and did something about it. VodaCON has been forced to offer this, kicking and dragging. Simple. YEt the spin they put out is as if they're doing us a favour. All bull.
After all, Three has been offering the 42 countries for a long time (including OZ, Hngkong, Srilanka etc - ie far away from the EU), without moaning about the billions you talk about).
You see, its all about money. Do you work for VodaCON by any chance?

20 Apr 17#51
Come on, that's complete rubbish. What about all the 4G investment that's currently taking place? And the costs of the 4G licences/spectrum? That'll all be sitting/accumulating on the Balance Sheet and being amortised over the next few years.

Totally appreciate where you are coming from. I have been with Vodafone for around 7 years, and have been LUCKY to get a 50% discount off my line rental every year from my 2nd year in, making it an absolute steal from a price point of view. I recently added 4 more lines to my account so I now have 5 contracts. They were able to offer me 50% off on the higher plans, and 40% on the slightly lower plans, still making it a bargain for me. They did screw up the pricing for the 1st month but after a few painful and repetitive phone calls they manage to sort it out, and even compensated my account with credit for their c*** up. Since then all has been fairly smooth. Their CS is pretty shocking at times but if you are lucky to have little issues then I find its pretty okay.

I've recently moved from Three to Vodafone. The difference is astonishing. In all areas of the UK (West Wales (44mps data! On the coast!) , Cambridgeshire, London) that I often visit, Vodafone are consistently head and shoulders better. Speeds dramatically better, calls get through first time, ever time. I have had a few issues with their customer service however, these were rectified.
Three throttles their EU data, one reason I moved to Vodafone. Plus I was offered Spotify, £75 quidco and the roaming.
I know the £5 charge for world traveller is a but steep BUT, those countries offer sim plans PAYG if you want for significantly less. Three really set the bar when they offered free EU roaming but the data throttling for me and refusing to update their offers meant I moved, with hesitation to Vodafone. I'm so glad I did because I'm getting great value for money and the network is for me fantastic.

As usual Vodafone are just trying to con their own customers. Come 15th June they, like everyone else can no longer charge for roaming in the EU. So the two tier UK/EU dissapears and you get to use the full UK allowance in the EU. If you have no roaming allowance today, come June, you will be able to use your full allowances in the EU. No need to upgrade. No need to change contracts. The telcos have had years to get their pricing structures in order to cover costs. Telling their own customers that they have to upgrade, 7 weeks before the deadline is just a dirty marketing trick. Of course we should ecpect nothing less from this lot.

my son was also in italy and used phone for week ringing me in ni and i was ringing him and did not add any extra charges on either of us.now i know this is not the same as the ireland plus bolt is only available to people on island of ireland north and south but i would like to think there is bound to be a bolt similar in england etc for the £5 per month.
Let's hope EE follow suit

P.S. From memory, that £19.20 offer had 40% offer the regular price, so it may be hard to upgrade to anything mid-contract near that price point for that amount of data.
no top up but you can add £2 top up and it becomes 123 sim for cheap calls
Slightly annoying!
I think you'll find your current contract covers a lot of data in the EU already (?2GB) and you also have access to the £5/day countries.
And you will be able to access all your data in the EU mid-June as far as I figure.
If you're a Vodafone Red customer, this offer doesn't add much more than what you currently get if you're on a high data tarriff.
I want to take my tablet
Three maybe better value for money but its really frustrating when the data is slow as 2G in the US.
Used out and about in America with very little issues, and used hotel WiFi at night if needed. All for no additional cost, far from utterly useless.
All it will do is slow down technology advancement to a snails pace
Estimated cost to build a 4G / LTE network in the UK is approx £1 billion (in the USA its even more) - that's just the network itself, not the IT/Operations to support it, and a 3G network to cover areas that 4G dont cover you can easily double that figure and more money to actually operate it
I got mine (20 gig data SIMO) in Oct 2015 & I've just added Vodafone Global Roaming.
Anyone who thinks that networks are cheap to design, build, maintain and upgrade is delusional and ill informed.
Maybe I was OK as use a VPN....
Either way, hit up some LG forums or ask Vodafone.
FYI info every operator has paid the license fees and yet they are able to offer better fares and deals !
GO figure !
Seems you are in awe of VodaCOn or an employee. They are still an evil company.
Unless you can tell us who offers better value?
"Are you having difficulty with roaming on your device? If you’ve got 4G switched on, it could be causing you problems.
Normally your phone will switch from 4G to 3G automatically but for some networks in certain countries, you’ll have to do it manually.
And don’t worry - this won’t affect your phone’s performance as roaming is only available with 3G speeds"
europa.eu/rap…htm
Considering waiting until my Quidco has changed to Confirmed though - in theory that should happen very shortly...
Some networks restrict your roaming to 3G, but we let you use 4G abroad wherever it’s available. And thanks to our extensive network of global partners, we offer 4G in more countries than any other network
"From 11 June we're making a couple of important changes to your price plan. The cost for your monthly plan will increase by £2.50 (this will be clearly shown on your bill). We're also introducing Roam-free which means you can use your data, minutes and texts abroad in 40 destinations at no extra cost. Plus use your home plan in 60 extra destinations with Roam-further - just £5 a day on top of your monthly plan and only on the days you use your phone. We'll get Roam-further set up for you between 11 Jun & 31 Aug, but if you're travelling before then just text ADD to 40508 for free from your Vodafone mobile.
