Does what it say on the tin/ title. However, I'm actually interested to see if others find this speeds up your internet browsing experience. For us - family of 5 with various devices - we suffered from variable internet speeds 1.5-6 Mbps (TalkTalk). Once I installed Spybot Anti Beacon on all our PCs, we now get a steady 6.75 Mbps.
Just me? Or will it speed up your computer's connection to the internet as well. Please take before & after readings from Ookla - the best internet speed monitor http://www.speedtest.net/
I'd be very interested to hear your results - thanks.
OK I pinched some blurb from Antdav - thx - it's over a year old:
Microsoft’s new and more aggressive monitoring of Windows systems has caused considerable discussion. Whether you believe all the telemetry is a privacy concern or not, you might be interested in an easy way to block the extensive information gathering. The developers at the well-known anti-spyware company Spybot have now provided a free utility called Spybot Anti-Beacon that makes configuring many privacy settings very convenient.
The utility can be used in Windows 7, 8.x, and 10 and comes as either an installer version or a version designated as portable. The portable application actually comes as an EXE installer that places a number of files in a folder. Also the portable is labeled version 1.4 while the installed is version 1.5. I tried both and there seem to be a few added configurations in version 1.5. Normally, I go for portable apps but in this case I would choose the installer version. The download and descriptive pages for each can be reached from this link. The downloads are 1.6 MB for the portable version and 2.6 MB for the installer version. Space actually used when installed is larger at around 4-8 MB.
btw just takes 30 seconds or so to download, install & immunize your computer

Virgin media with 4 people logged in . I think it might well be that Talk Talk who we were with before Virgin Media might be the fact that you have a lower download speed ?.

we could upgrade to faster provider but we get 100% free international calls with TT which is worth a few quid as my wife is always phoning family & work abroad - not a boost - they offered it to retain us when I was set to leave them
moving house soon so will get a faster provider

Nice. We were with Bulldog/Pipex before Talk Talk took over, the speeds dropped to 500kb and it got to the point of buffering for 35 mins to watch anything online.Complained before Bulldog got taken over and got a £5 a month package for internet and stuck with it because it was so cheap. Then virgin came along and offered a multi package and it just really opened up the full internet for the whole family, online gaming, watching bbc iplayer etc.
Trying out the Spybot program and will let you know how it goes.my AVG doesnt like it at all though lol.

That's my speed on wireless, with Virgin. All in £32 per month for line rental and broadband. I only joined last month and they put the cost of my package up by £4. Not going to complain as the broadband has been excellent, with my speeds always above 100Mb. I doubt this program will get me higher speeds as I get over the speed I pay for already.
