*BF2 "Revive" is no different than a regular BF2 "Vanilla" version!*
Ok so this may be a bit confusing, but put simply Battlefield 2 Revive Project is a team of dedicated guys who have made Battlefield 2 from the ground-up, and have released it for free.
And in October they will be releasing Battlefield 2142 Revive. Feels like a good freebie to me.

Is this not simply an illegal knock off of a game you can still buy in the shops and which still has servers running?

do the server's still work? I thought the Gamespy shutdown broke them and the this is a workaround to implement a new master server.

BF 2 was awesome, huge maps, excellent vehicles including fast jets. Was a resource hog and took a decent spec PC to run (back in 2006) but was just good.
I think at this point the game is classed as abandonware, their is no way of obtaining the game through official channels any longer as the game has long been out of print and Origin have ceased distribution, See the Origin storefront for the game: https://www.origin.com/en-gb/store/buy/battlefield-2

Pretty cool. Hadn't heard of this, I'll check it out, thanks. I've been playing BF1 the last couple of days so it's given me the Battlefield itch again.

Wasn't aware this was a thing, but I am very happy to see they're working on BF2142, one of my all time favourites.
Thanks OP
