just received my sim card and it says my total monthly cost is £15. any ideas whether i should cancel it or contact virgin mobile. i already had a virgin mobile online account so they just attatched this new sim to that.

For what? Making a mistake? Usually a contract is formed once the item is sent, check their terms. If it is then you'd be wasting your time.

Ha-ha i failed the credit check. I'm obviously not their type of customer... Doh!

I took out the 12 month sim-only deal on 3 anyways!

I also received the "credit check declined" email. Lol. I contacted the number in the email CPW sent me and was put through three different people. The first person said that he can't give me information on why the order was cancelled due to the 'declined credit check' because the mobile network won't provide any details as to why lol. Then the guy said he can forward me to relevant department to discuss this further and the second person done a credit check with me over the phone and confirmed that my credit is perfectly fine and the reason why my order got cancelled is because the sim only deal was a technical error on their website & apologised for the 'inconvenience' lol. Inconvenience by back foot! & I asked why was I sent a email stating otherwise & she said it was also a technical error lol. Then she forwarded me to the sales team so I could get the deal again because she said once it's cancelled she can't re-order it over the phone lol then when I was put through to the sales team they said it was a technical error & I could get the deal but for £15 per month and everyone that got the error deal won't be honoured it.

Why wouldn't they honour it? I have had a sim only monthly deal with them for 2 years £19.50 unlimited Text,calls and data. This is a good deal.

I suspect they will all be cancelled, I guess they are working through the list and issuing the cancellation emails. My order was confirmed but on back order. I won't worry too much if I / when I get the cancellation email. Given what has happened in the past 24 hours this is nothing to moan about really.

It's now £7 per month, with only 500mb data (4G), 150 mins and unlimited texts

hi.. I order this sim and later call the customer service of car phone warehouse. From there I found that they put it by mistake and nothing in this world is free. And it's £15 per month.. So beware before u order

Just spoken to company. They say this is a website error and transactions will not go through.

Ordered mine, 3 years back T-mobile had the similar glitch and still with them but they are now charging me 20p-50p per month but I ain't complaining! The only issue I have is that smart phones are changing and the new ones require micro sim and I can't change the sim cause lot of people whom went to EE (who took over t-mobile) have cancelled the deal and start charging full amount £12.

Hope they honour it, T-mobile did!

If you fought hard you might get the 1 month if you screamed and shouted, but since its on a 1 month plan it would defintely not have to be honoured past that (the 1 month contract works both ways). And also even if it was 12 month, the T&Cs state that they will give 30 days notice of any changes, so they could issue this change on day 1 of the contract.

Though I am hoping you are right in this case.

I think the key words here are "prices and availability are subject to change", so basically you are signing up for a free item that might not be free.

Ordered and heat given. But why am I getting a whiff of rodent with this. If everything is in order it means that, not only are you getting a sim with 2gb data, unlimited calls and unlimited texts for free, but it will be free every month, as you have to complete a direct debit form agreeing to £0.00 being debited from your account each month. Also, if orders are processed and sims issued with no further contact to say there has been a mistake, but we can offer you this really great deal at £25pm or whatever, then there is a legal obligation for them to honour it.

So keeping all digits crossed and wishing I had a dual sim phone now.

For those wondering if it's a fraud:

There are no virgin media sim only deals on the carphone warehouse website when you search. This page is obviously old or incorrect as they don't have any sims for virgin!

You've got to be in it to win it, but giving over card details on a very, very slim chance of it coming through isn't for me. From what's been recently mentioned r.e. calls to customer service and the traction this "offer" is soon to get I can't see any way it'll be honoured.

Saying all that, I got caught out last year with a massively mispriced 128gb micro sd card through Amazon which they said they wouldn't honour and for once, I just let it go, only to find out a few people dug their heals in and had it honoured!

Contractually they have never stipulated a monthly fee or what it would be after, except that it is free, so if approved we have a winner. Only issue is if they try to cancel order before or after ???

naa, can't beat that. it was 12 months contract and had free booster (i got the Usa calling one at the time). they repeated the 'error' a year later too.
Even when it was time to cancel i got retention deal at £5/pm

Just got off the phone to Carphone Warehouse. They have confirmed that it is a technical error on their website and the orders will not be going through. O well... Will wait for my cancellation email

I put my order through, but when looked at final page it also shows a phone has been ordered with it too!!! At no point did I select a phone and definitely would not have ordered the one showing if I had!!! Will have to wait for confirmation of acceptance now to cancel this, I guess :-/

Pointless as its not a rolling contract so after 30 days will only get standard packages high-priced taffifs if wish to stay with them, plus it's a terrible network, but goodluck with being on hold for a very long time trying to sort anything out with cpw

Applying the rate of inflation to 0 would be a tough one...

Credit check will still be done. And they will change the price next month. Not worth the hassle imo. Go direct via quidco to virgin if you want and get 1 month free anyway after cashback - which is all you will get here.

Ok, found the link on page 2, placed order, think it will be cancelled and not honored, its CPW but not a cashback offer and seems like a typo, VM dont have to honor unlike Tmobile who were the network. Lets see what happens

Right spoke to live chat - they say deal is legit - ordered - then called up the CC - they aren't sure whats going on - said will investigate and get back to me later on - so the wait continues lets see how it goes.

It is definitely not 4g. i work for Virgin Mobile. We will have 4g by the end of the year but this is definitely a 3g deal

Furthermore that tariff doesnt exist on our systems any more so will not be honoured

Righty-oh; I went through it and it clearly stated that the monthly amount is £0; double-checked it is a CPW site, received a confirmation email, took a couple of screenshots of the bank & card details.

This is not through Virgin but through Carphone warehouse. Virgin offer 4G to business customers only . I suspect this is a trap by CPW to get new customers by deceit. Later on they will say the 4G info and the price info was a mistake which they have now rectified . They will be watching how many fools will be jump at the deal thinking it is free when actually later you would be spending hours on the phone to CPW, trying to cancel. Many will just give up and stay with them when they find its not easy to cancel and CPW will be making money by deception. /pretending ignorance. I have only learned from experience not to trust CPW at any cost.

That's true, but then Virgin have always told me that they often don't know right up until days beforehand that they're introducing something. The guy I spoke to a while back said they didn't know until a week beforehand that they were carrying the iPhones and that it was likely that the situation would be the same for 4G as well as they were still actively trying to work it out.

It's very highly unlikely that this is on the standard network, but with the way they do things, I suppose you can't entirely discount the tiny possibility that it might be.

They might honor it i just got the life mobile sim deal for £1 a month which runs off EE's network a couple of weeks ago.
I get 4000mins, 3000text,4gb data so you never know.
