I was looking for a good deal on a Sim only setup and come across this one for Virgin via Carphone warehouse. Not sure if this is a mistake or not - but shows as free? It is 2GB data and unlimited text and minutes - 1 month contract and free delivery or collect at store. Details in the URL in this post.
If I've misunderstood this then apologies in advance - please message me and I will remove it. It seems to good to be true...so assume there is something I have missed.

Obviously the part where you messaged them to notify them of the error therefore ruining the chance of them not noticing and the error going through.
Well done sir

HankHandsome
15 Jul 16#48
That's true, but then Virgin have always told me that they often don't know right up until days beforehand that they're introducing something. The guy I spoke to a while back said they didn't know until a week beforehand that they were carrying the iPhones and that it was likely that the situation would be the same for 4G as well as they were still actively trying to work it out.
It's very highly unlikely that this is on the standard network, but with the way they do things, I suppose you can't entirely discount the tiny possibility that it might be.

This is not through Virgin but through Carphone warehouse. Virgin offer 4G to business customers only . I suspect this is a trap by CPW to get new customers by deceit. Later on they will say the 4G info and the price info was a mistake which they have now rectified . They will be watching how many fools will be jump at the deal thinking it is free when actually later you would be spending hours on the phone to CPW, trying to cancel. Many will just give up and stay with them when they find its not easy to cancel and CPW will be making money by deception. /pretending ignorance. I have only learned from experience not to trust CPW at any cost.
prowla1
15 Jul 16#52

Taken from "Live Chat" when ordering
Is the Virgin Media Micro SIM card 4G - 1 Months for Free a mistake or a legit deal?
What you see online for the deal is legit stuff.
last question, after the free month does the charge go up to something ridiculous?
No what you see for the contract for the sim is what you will carry on paying and only will be charged if you go over what you get.
SIM ordered!

15 Jul 16#149
I was tempted by this, just spoke with Carphone Warehouse chat to clarify, here's the transcript:
Scott: Hi, I've seen an offer on a 'Virgin Media Micro SIM card 4G - 1 Months', unlimited texts/calls/2GB data - showing as Free. Is this correct? Seems too good to be true
Shalayne: I've just confirmed that this may be a website error. We may be able to price match for you however, as the deal on our side is for £7.00 for 150 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB. Please contact our Direct Sales Team - 0800 049 6250 and they should be able to sort this out for you. I do apologize for the confusion.

Contractually they have never stipulated a monthly fee or what it would be after, except that it is free, so if approved we have a winner. Only issue is if they try to cancel order before or after ???
woldranger
15 Jul 16#157
You've got to be in it to win it, but giving over card details on a very, very slim chance of it coming through isn't for me. From what's been recently mentioned r.e. calls to customer service and the traction this "offer" is soon to get I can't see any way it'll be honoured.
Saying all that, I got caught out last year with a massively mispriced 128gb micro sd card through Amazon which they said they wouldn't honour and for once, I just let it go, only to find out a few people dug their heals in and had it honoured!

Ordered and heat given. But why am I getting a whiff of rodent with this. If everything is in order it means that, not only are you getting a sim with 2gb data, unlimited calls and unlimited texts for free, but it will be free every month, as you have to complete a direct debit form agreeing to £0.00 being debited from your account each month. Also, if orders are processed and sims issued with no further contact to say there has been a mistake, but we can offer you this really great deal at £25pm or whatever, then there is a legal obligation for them to honour it.
So keeping all digits crossed and wishing I had a dual sim phone now.

"* Savings based on upfront cost. Subject to credit check and min. 24 months contract. Due to fast moving nature of this market, all offers, prices and availability are subject to change. All information accurate at the time of publish. Data allowance only applies to use in the UK."
I think the key words here are "prices and availability are subject to change", so basically you are signing up for a free item that might not be free.

slightly diff tack here peops,
Wondering anyone know when the Octacore LG stylus 2 plus ( LG K530 or LG K535) launches.
After a phone smart phone with DAB radio capability?
Most handsets just have the FM radio
the HTC Lobster years ago had DAB/Freeview but dismal performance not to mention the battery drain
yeah anyone with any info on cheapish LG Stylus 2 or LG Stylus 2 Pus kindly share
cheers

It does say 4G data but Virgin only offer 3G data....
Carphone could be just getting rid of all their only Virgin sims as they have stopped selling Virgin as it competes with their own ID tariffs.
I'm more of the feelin that they will have absolutely no obligation to honour this
If you fought hard you might get the 1 month if you screamed and shouted, but since its on a 1 month plan it would defintely not have to be honoured past that (the 1 month contract works both ways). And also even if it was 12 month, the T&Cs state that they will give 30 days notice of any changes, so they could issue this change on day 1 of the contract.
Though I am hoping you are right in this case.

Ordered mine, 3 years back T-mobile had the similar glitch and still with them but they are now charging me 20p-50p per month but I ain't complaining! The only issue I have is that smart phones are changing and the new ones require micro sim and I can't change the sim cause lot of people whom went to EE (who took over t-mobile) have cancelled the deal and start charging full amount £12.
Hope they honour it, T-mobile did!

hi.. I order this sim and later call the customer service of car phone warehouse. From there I found that they put it by mistake and nothing in this world is free. And it's £15 per month.. So beware before u order

I also received the "credit check declined" email. Lol. I contacted the number in the email CPW sent me and was put through three different people. The first person said that he can't give me information on why the order was cancelled due to the 'declined credit check' because the mobile network won't provide any details as to why lol. Then the guy said he can forward me to relevant department to discuss this further and the second person done a credit check with me over the phone and confirmed that my credit is perfectly fine and the reason why my order got cancelled is because the sim only deal was a technical error on their website & apologised for the 'inconvenience' lol. Inconvenience by back foot! & I asked why was I sent a email stating otherwise & she said it was also a technical error lol. Then she forwarded me to the sales team so I could get the deal again because she said once it's cancelled she can't re-order it over the phone lol then when I was put through to the sales team they said it was a technical error & I could get the deal but for £15 per month and everyone that got the error deal won't be honoured it.

Booooo, I rang them and they can't help. I didn't get a confirmation email because "there seems to be a typo on your email address".
Odd that because it's worked every other time I've spent money with CPW. So the order was cancelled "because they couldn't get in touch with me".
Has anyone got time to report these cheap bstards to trading standards? I don't so I will just send a disappointed tweet and not put any more business their way as they've fallen into the "dodgy and untrustworthy" category of store.

Thinking about it more, although I'm no expert, I don't think there's a contract in place due to there being no consideration on our part. This effectively means, even if they dispatched the item, they could legally still cancel the deal.

Scroll a little way down and there is a table showing all of the best deals.
The deal is the top one
Definitely the carphonewarehouse site!
lol
waiting for cancellation email,
Best case scenario
possibly a 5 pound voucher as an apology
4g is limited to business customers.
They might honor it i just got the life mobile sim deal for £1 a month which runs off EE's network a couple of weeks ago.
I get 4000mins, 3000text,4gb data so you never know.
It's very highly unlikely that this is on the standard network, but with the way they do things, I suppose you can't entirely discount the tiny possibility that it might be.
Furthermore that tariff doesnt exist on our systems any more so will not be honoured
Good luck to those ordering
Is the Virgin Media Micro SIM card 4G - 1 Months for Free a mistake or a legit deal?
What you see online for the deal is legit stuff.
last question, after the free month does the charge go up to something ridiculous?
No what you see for the contract for the sim is what you will carry on paying and only will be charged if you go over what you get.
SIM ordered!
"Your pay monthly plan will be adjusted every year by the rate of inflation".
Expect charges to go up anytime unannounced, be prepared for that! although ordered.
Who's gonna call up CPW to inform them of their error?
Ordered this now as well!
Can you get out of the contract?
When I worked at Waitrose almost 2 decades ago, I had a woman come and tell me that the multipack kitkats were scanning at 10p but the ticket on the shelf was much higher and we should correct our machines.
Even when it was time to cancel i got retention deal at £5/pm
Now time to play the waiting game.
Anyone know how long this sim will be active if not used right away?
Ordered
Note - easy way to add >1 to your basket is just to hit reload on the page this deal sends you to.
would that mean they will update the price later when it is available?
Will watch with interest over the next week to see if I've missed out on a bargain
EE is great been with them for past year pay £16 unlt mins+unlt text+8GB 4GEE data, international calls+ iPhone visual voicemail, only had an issue once.
VM on other hand were terrible along with some of their cs staff!
Hope this is of use, good luck to anyone who's gone for it though!
So we all know where this is going..
worried if they did a fruitless credit check...
Saying all that, I got caught out last year with a massively mispriced 128gb micro sd card through Amazon which they said they wouldn't honour and for once, I just let it go, only to find out a few people dug their heals in and had it honoured!
They'll probably cancel them as I suppose.
The final page said you will receive an email.... I cant remember entering my email address or i may have auto completed my details.
Did anyone get a conf email?
Though at the bottom, it states again that they may cancel it! So good luck!
"Thank you for waiting, I just had a look into your order, it does not give any charge owing, so there's nothing to worry about."
So keeping all digits crossed and wishing I had a dual sim phone now.
I think the key words here are "prices and availability are subject to change", so basically you are signing up for a free item that might not be free.
Wondering anyone know when the Octacore LG stylus 2 plus ( LG K530 or LG K535) launches.
After a phone smart phone with DAB radio capability?
Most handsets just have the FM radio
the HTC Lobster years ago had DAB/Freeview but dismal performance not to mention the battery drain
yeah anyone with any info on cheapish LG Stylus 2 or LG Stylus 2 Pus kindly share
cheers
Carphone could be just getting rid of all their only Virgin sims as they have stopped selling Virgin as it competes with their own ID tariffs.
Might be worth asking there as well....
Have ordered earlier in the day but this all looks fishy to me. Great way to get people's data for free.

I ordered one Sim just Minutes after the deal was posted around 9pm last night....at that time the sim card was showing as in stock....(by the time the deal hit heat and Whatsapp alert the stock had changed to pre-order)

.....oh wait.. No....., no....,,, it can't be..... it's a blo*dy cancellation email!
Dam you gizza for telling them! That's why they are cancelling all... Oh well at least I'm still using my t-mobile sim for free which I got 2 years ago... Actually they are charging me 0.20p-0.50p per month.. Still happy
"Yeah right" what? You couldn't be a bit more cryptic, could you?
