Got my grocery delivery this morning from Tesco and the driver gave me a free box of goodies to celebrate Wimbledon! Can find any reference to it online with details of how long it'll go on for, people started thanking them for their boxes via Twitter on Tuesday.
My delivery came from the Ashby de la Zouch store. Don't know how many times you need to have shopped to be classed as a loyal customer, we have had a delivery around once a week since November-ish. We also have delivery saver so maybe that's a factor, or maybe it's just random.

It could be a area specific thing, or the drivers got given a load to give out to reduce wasted stock

Could be. Mentions on Facebook from Tesco Montrose, Cambridge, Ryde, Wokingham, Melton Mowbray... Some people have had them for a certain number of shops. Seems the managers can decide who gets them and why.

Plain or fruit scones would be far more appropriate. Butter and double cream is also a prerequisite to great scones and crumpets. If Tesco are going to embrace a British summer tradition, they could, at least, get the constituent items right.
For their biggest annual spending customers, a free bottle of champagne should accompany the food.

It's that time of year again. Rain, tennis and that great, British institution - crumpets, strawberries and cream. Oh hold on, wait a minute....
