Took the Audible trial last year and cancelled after a week. 4 months later I noted they were deducting payments, despite confirming I'd cancelled, they soon realised their error, got refund within 7 days. Tread carefully with trial period

I'd really like to know this too. I don't think they are as plentiful as free kindle books but I still bet there are a few gems I am missing out on...
Yes, only other one I've found (admittedly not having done an extensive search) is "The Oedipus Plays", which is perhaps a bit more of niche appeal.

Don't forget Librivox. Readings are by volunteers, so not always "professional" acting but some are very good, and always enthusiastic. Mainly classics and older books (out of copyright). There are loads, and some surprises. Worth a look; I've listened to many of these. https://librivox.org/search

If you have a library card you can download free audio books through One Clickdigital. If you physically borrow an audio reading then you'll have to pay, like borrowing a DVD. But if you download the app onto a smart phone it's completely free and there are some good books - over 6000 to choose from!

Agree. I'm working my way through the Jack Reacher series at the moment, a mixture of ebooks and audio. Unfortunately not compatible with Kindles. I was unaware of this when I bought my Kindle.

You can use a program to convert them so they are kindle compatible it does sometimes have some random errors like pages with only a single word on but thats rare and hardly a bother. https://calibre-ebook.com/
