Is this actually free? I've noticed on some of their advertising forms that their previous offers of free eye tests were only valid if you purchased some glassess afterwards.
As stated earlier, other opticians do tests for free. Specsavers regularly have free vouchers printed in newspapers or indeed can be printed online.

Is there generally any thought that any of these companies are better/worse with their eye examinations? Personally I have a very simple prescription but my mother has a variety of issues and the last time she bought glasses from a local optician (bloody expensive ones too) they turned out not to be right. She had them altered twice without charge and then when they still weren't quite right, she was told there would be a third change and a charge required at that point. Had I been here at the time then I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have gotten away with that.
So advice on this topic is much appreciated

Just had my eye test in the Birkenhead store and I can assure people that it is free. I had to go and pick up my daughter's car straight afterwards so couldn't stop and buy glasses today. No hassle, no trouble, nice people and a great service.

Strangely enough davelfc, I am having an eye test tomorrow at the Birkenhead store. I have been there for the last few eye exams and have to agree with you that they are very good there.
